Chapter 13 - 12 Private engi 3

Engi might have been having an existential crisis, but some things are so ingrained into a person that they will continue to do it regardless of the situation. Engi had been working out every morning for such a long time that he found himself doing laps around the deck of the ship not even an hour after his incident in the bathroom. Esabel had reprimanded him, telling him that his actions had scared the girls. Engi could only shake his head in response. How could these girls who were so dominate be scared of a single man who had a hangover.

This was simply a thought he had in passing. In all honesty he could understand their concern. It was a shame that there was no real bathroom for the males. Most of the few males who were on board simply used the servant bathroom to clean themselves. This was not acceptable for him however as he was an actual enlisted member of the army, a member of the prestigious mechanic company to boot. The military officers would shit themselves if they made a mechanic bath from a bucket of cold water in the servants room. Even if he was a male.

He recieved a few stares as he ran his laps around the deck, the sailors seemed to think his actions were odd. He was even stopped by the captain, to see if he was ok. He only had to briefly explain what was he was doing before the captain nodded. She signaled for one of the sailors to come over and had her take him to the training room.

The ship came equipped with a full sized gym, that included every type of equipment you could think of. There was even gravity chamber rooms that would increase the pressure on a person's body. There was also various different areas that had specialized training for weapons. There was a firing range, a sword practice area, even a boxing ring.

This area was perfect for Engi. One of the key points of the game Infinite Universe was that you not only recieved stat points from leveling up, but you could also raise your stats by putting effort into training. The higher your stats were the more training you have to put in, so it was best to start the training early. Right now he was level 3, and his physical stats were only at 3. Compared to a class with physical attributes his were at the lowest that they could possibly be.

This was alright with Engi though, It would be best for him to build up his body and stats with his own hard work, each step gained would be gained through his blood, sweat and tears. This would allow him to truly know the limits of his body and give him a better sense of control.

He knew that he was not capable of handling the gravity rooms, so instead he worked out in the open area of the gym. The process took him an hour, and he had developed quite a sweat by that point. From there he went to the firing range. As a mechanic he did not have great physical attributes, but his perception and dexterity were rather high. If he were to learn how to use a weapon a fire arm would be the best bet.

Yesterday he had put together hundreds of rifles, sonhe had a basic understanding of how they worked. The energy core provided the inertia the ammunition would need to fire. This inertia was released when the trigger was fired. The ammunition itself was various sized of round metal balls. The ammunition used in the firing range however was simply rubber balls to limit the potential damage a firearm could doing something were to unexpectedly happen.

He felt the familiar feeling of the assault rifle in his hands as he examined the formation that powered it. This weapon had a common low powered formation that was capable of repeatedly firing. It was not an automatic weapon, rather a semiautomatic weapon. The meaning of this was that any time he pulled the trigger a bullet would fly. The formation itself was set up so that as long as he had ammunition he could fire hundred of shots before it needed to be refilled. The downside of this particular rifle was that the shots themselves were not overly powerful.

In other words this weapon was a great way for him to practice, to eventually gain proficiency in fire arms without having to waste a schematic to build his own. He had read many guides on how to fire a rifle during his time on earth, but this was his first time actually being able to use one. He held the rifle as he was instructed, bringing the butt of the rifle to his shoulder with the barrel extending outward. He looked down the barrel with both eyes open, and adjusted his breathing, only pulling the trigger when he had completely exhaled before he inhaled.

The first bullet he fired flew down the firing range, barely grazing the humanoid target. His shot had been wide, he had messed up during the firing process. Mentally he reviewed the process, finding he had made an error with his breathing. He tried again, this time.making sure he was more steady, the breath completely out of his lungs as he pulled the trigger.

The bullet again went wide, this time not even hitting the target. The process repeated over and over again as he found small errors that he had to correct. When he was finally able to hit the target consistently he put the gun down. He still had work to do today.
