Chapter 19 - 18 Sketch

The schematic screen was not like regular repairing or upgrading. When he opened up the interface he was greeted by a black screen, on the side were several different options for him to select from. Currently the option selected looked like a pencil. Engi nodded as he looked at it. The first thing that a new design needed was a shape.

He had already decided on the shape of his design, so this part of the process went by relatively quickly. He had decided that it would be a cloak, so he simply had to draw one out. The interface took over from there, creating an actual life like cloak on the screen.

His next step in the process was to input the functions. He had already decided that it was going to be an invisibility cloak, so selecting the option was rather simple. As his first schematic the cloak could only have one function, which was alright with him as he only needed it to do the one thing.

The third step was to inter the runic formations needed. There was a spot for three different Runic formations, and he quickly entered the two formations that Alexander had already decided were the best fit for the cloak. A third formation was available, but he skipped it for now. He would always be able to come back and edit it if something needed changed.

The materials themselves did not matter so much, what was important was the function, Even the shape was not important. But he had chosen the cloak, do to a certain work of literature that became movies that involved a wizard wearing an invisibility cloak. The idea had always intrigued him, so he decided to make one.

It did not take long before he had finished the entire process. Before his, the schematics for an invisibility cloak were laid before him. When he selected create the system would automatically correct any mistakes that had been made, making it into a completely functional creation.

His finger hovered above the create button for several minutes as he reviewed all of his work, in his mind it all seemed flawless, and yet it did not really seem like he had created anything. When it came down to it, all he had done was add a couple formations onto a piece of cloth.

This did not feel like something he had to waste a schematic on. Through trial and error he would be able to make this in a short amount of time. It was also not something he would mass produce, so the schematic would truly be a waste if he were to save it. He hesitated for only a moment before he decided to clear the schematic.

He exited out of the schematic menu and stood up from his bench. Behind him Esabel was quietly working on one of her own creations. He found himself admiring the view of the small orc. He once again took out his sketch book and began to sketch the scene before him. His mind seemed to drift into another space as he became absorbed with his drawing.

The orc in front of him was rather beautiful. Her red skin was tattooed all over. From behind he could see a black and grey tattoo going down her spine. The tattoo was of gears, gears that seemed to tear through the skin. Each place were a vertebra should have been was a small gear. The tattoo seemed rather simple, and yet the image was rather profound.

The tattoo on her back was caught in exceptional detail in his drawing, as was every part of her. Her slightly hiluched over appearance. The gaged earrings in her lobes. The well defined muscles in her body, and her soft skin. Her short hair was the hardest to capture. It was cut in a trendy style, at least it was trendy back on earth. Her beauty was something that Engi could not deny, even if they were fundamentally different races. He could see how half orcs came to be.

He was so caught up in his drawing he did not. notice that Esabel had gotten up from her bench and made her way over to him. He did not notice that she was standing behind him, watching him sketch her. He most definitely did not notice the smile on her face as she looked at the sketch.

He was so caught up in the sketch that he did not notice the world around him at all. The entirety of his being was focused on the pencil and paper in his hands. An indeterminate time later he was finished. Esabel was once again sitting at her bench, working on her creation. In his hands was what could only be called a masterpiece. The most beautiful sketch he had ever drawn.
