Chapter 11 - 10 Private Engi

"What do you mean I'm enlisted? Don't I have a choice? You do know that I have to log out right?"

"Thata all been taken care of. You have a "unique" class, meaning you are league above any other mechanic. It was the luck of the orcs that you spawned as a half orc. We negotiated with the higher ups of the humans and have bargained for you. As we speak officials should be heading towards your house to make modifications to your "Pod". From this point forward you will become a permanent resident of the "Infinite Universe". "

She looked at the clipboard that was in her hand. "Your previous identity as "Guy Wilson" has been wiped. As far as your family and friends are concerned you have "Died". They will be "Wiping" your profile. As far as any one else is concerned you no longer exist. From this point forward you are simply Private Engi. A mechanic in the Royal army of the Orc warlord Shifa. I am your commanding officer. You are rather lucky. Mechanics such as ourselves are a respected position and do not fall under the command of other departments. Even the Commander of this ship cannot give you orders, so long as you complete your duty."

"But why would this happen to me? I'm a total noob, and I'm under the impression that the orcs hate males? the last I knew I was in fact a male! and I would like to keep my genitials intact thank you very much!"

"It's true that being a male is something that we did not want. However you have proved that you are able to keep your mind intact regardless of the orc hormones that run through your body. This is usually the case with half breeds, though no self respecting orc would willingly breed with a non orc. Making half orcs like yourself more rare."

Guy was freaking out by this point. His entire life was outside this Virtual reality rig! how was hs supposed to live? What about his prized possession his glasses? "This doesn't explain why I didn't get a choice?? why don't I get to go home? Isn't this just a game? a place where people come to have fun?"

Esabel shook her head as she looked at him. "I'm afraid that the infinite universe is far more than just a game. Your government lucked upon a rune that connected you to this space. The entire universe is in an entirely different dimension than what you lived in before. They managed to find a way to connect their conciousness to this dimension. We exchanged your life for the contents of your glasses, the runes you had brought back to your dimension."

" In return they are disconnecting your conciousness from your body. Your body there will slowly die, leaving only your mind alive in your "Avatar". But in all other ways your "Avatar" will still function as it did before. It has become your "True" body. If you die you will still have the benefits of an avatar, you will respawn with a loss of levels. But if that level every becomes 0 you will die for good. so be careful, you are a mechanic, we are not known for having strong bodies."

"So I'm stuck here, as an Orc enlisted in the army? How am I supposed to go on adventures? How am I supposed to have fun? How am I supposed to get a girlfriend if all of my race litterally hates males!!!!??!!!"

"You can still have fun and go on adventures. Mechanics are always needed when they go into combat. Machines break, we orcs are not blessed with magical powers like the other races, and are heavily reliant on our machines to survive and prosper. Why do you think Mechanics have such a high standing? Why do you think we went through so much trouble to obtain you? A unique class mechanic?"

Guy, rather Engi was dumbfounded. How could the race not have magic? Didn't he have an affinity towards the metal element? Was that just useless? "If orcs can't do magic why do I still have an affinity towards an element?"

"Because you're not a full orc. You're only half. Your affinity should be something to do with being a mechanic, so either fire or...no it can't be metal."

"Why can't it be metal?"

"Metal affinity is just too rare. Do you realize how over powered it would be to be able to manipulate metal particles? you could litterally build whatever you want almost effortlessly. Just having an affinity for fire makes you valuable to the orcs, almost as valuable as being a mechanic."

Engi nodded as he checked his interface. His options to log off had disappeared, and his friend list was gone. Everything else remained the same. Right under his name and class it listed his affinity. It had not changed. It still said metal. "Well I will tell you this, my affinity is not fire."

"Are you serious? You know we have ways of checking. If you're lying there will be hell to pay. You will beg to become a Eunuch after the hell they will put you through."

Engi nodded. "My interface says I have an affinity towards metal, not that I know how to use it or anything."

"keep this a secret for now, if they find out you will be forced to develop it, completely ignoring your training here. If one of the senior mechanics ask tell them the truth, but not anyone else. Do you understand?"

Engi nodded. "Yes ma'am." he paused before asking. "Is there anywhere I can get a drink? This is a lot to take in."
