"You're late."
That was the first thing that Clyde said as soon as he saw Syra arrived at their work station. However, his scowling face was not the first thing that Syra noticed when she got there.
Instead, what caught her attention was the state of the room itself.
It was a total mess!
There were countless empty vials scattered on the floor as well as dangling parchments here and there, to the point that Syra could not help but twitch her face upon the mere sight of it.
"How were you able to work in such a disorganized environment????"
Syra asked out loud as she looked in Clyde's direction with disbelief clearly written on her face.
"This is what they called, systematic chaos."
Clyde replied with the same air of nonchalance that he usually had around him. At the same time, his arms were also crossed in front of his chest as he gave Syra a look that seemed to say
'Why do you got a problem with that?'
Before Syra could even stop herself, a scoff escaped her lips already.
"Systematic chaos you say?"
Syra asked back with an obvious edge of sarcasm in her voice.
'Just look at the audacity of this guy to give this mess a justice and even called it some sort of system at that'
Syra thought inside her head but decided against voicing it out.
Meanwhile, seeing her reaction, Clyde raised an eyebrow. So while casually picking his ear, the other party asked Syra again.
"Why? Have you not heard of 'systematic chaos' before? From what I know, it was actually a word termed by mortals. Besides, this same mess was also the reason why you are needed here. So you must be thankful for them. Because without this mess, you won't have a purpose. Now stop wasting time and go clean this room. I want it done in the next hour. I will be back."
Clyde issued his command and leave without waiting for Syra's response. Syra , on the other hand, watched his departing figure while making a face.
"How was he even able to mess up this place to such an extent?!"
Syra muttered to herself as she eyed the chaos lying before her eyes.
"Well, basically, Master Clyde is a busy body. He had a lot to do so he barely had time to clean up."
Out of the blue, Syra heard Naomi's voice from behind her. When she turned around and looked for the source of the voice, she saw that the other party was carrying a mini version of a pail and a mop; proportionate enough to match its small size as the other party was just a cat, to begin with.
"Don't you guys have magic? Why can't you just use it to get things done???"
"Then our life will be more boring then??? Don't you think??"
Instead of answering her question, Naomi only asked her back.
"Errr, well at least it would make your life less complicated."
Syra replied to show her point.
"We prefer it this way. Besides, Master Clyde hates wasting his mana for trivial things such as this. He would rather let this mess unattended than spending effort to clean the room only to mess with it again the next day. I used to do this alone, but now I am glad to have a company and someone to share my burden with."
Syra remained silent afterward and just let Naomi do the talking.
"It usually takes me a day to clean Master Clyde's workplace. But now that you're here, I believe we could finish cleaning up in no time."
Naomi beamed as though cleaning was the most exciting thing to do. Syra on the other hand just simpered a smile on him since she did not know how she should react to that.
The cat, however, did not seem to mind the other party's lack of response as he just kept on talking and giving Syra a head's up of what she had to do
"You could get your own cleaning materials in the room next to us. There's a cupboard over there where you could find everything you would need. I'm sorry if I was not able to bring you one myself as my little paws could only accommodate this much."
"Sure, no worries."
Syra replied as she made her way to the said room next to where they were.
