Chapter 4 - 4 Lactose n Lavatories

The bun was truly a delicacy. Bai Chen couldn't help but hope that all the food here would be that good. She rubbed her stomach happily. The day had started positive and all she could hope was that it would end positive. She was the heroine after all! What could possibly happen?

Bai Chen wandered the streets for a while, discomfort in her stomach. She dismissed it as period pain. Who knew? This girl was around the normal age to get her first so it was probably the case and rather unfortunately, as someone on the streets of an otome game with no money, she had no way to tell. There were no public bathrooms to use. Spoiler alert, it wasn't.

Soon enough, Bai Chen found herself chasing around to different restaurants to find a bathroom.

None of the restaurants would let her in because of her tacky attire.

Dmanit! Who would guess this body had lactose intolerance!

Sh*t

A/N: Literally. Get it? Haha im so funny

Dashing from store to store, Bai Chen finally found one that would allow her in. The grievance inside her raged on like the pain in her intestines. Finally, she was relieved of the pain and stumbled out of the store, inwardly cursing herself that she didn't play Doki Doki Heart when she had it. But if she was honest, if she did complete it, Bai Chen's death would probably be brought forward from smashing her head with the controller. Repeatedly.

Feeling ill, hungry and tired, Bai Chen sat down on the side walk to sleep.

"Young miss!" a masculine voice called. "I found her!" Bai Chen laid on the brick walkway with pale sunken cheeks. The voice and slight tug on her clothes awoke her.

"...Hello~" She hollowly called, feeling her body be dragged and placed over another's. She moved like a slug, slipping onto his shoulders drowsily.

Finally! The saviours have arrived! Bai Chen looked like a sultana; small, dehydrated, and with a brown discolouration of dirt. The fact her house's servants realised it was her was impressive in itself, but who knows, it was probably the aura of a protagonist.

After being lugged to a carriage, Bai Chen slept for a few more hours until they stopped at an inn. It took a few more days of travelling until they reach the Fleur residence. The luxurious place was a far stretch from the box Bai Chen was living in a few days ago.

Bai Chen got out of the carriage onto the expansive estate's brick driveway. Fortunately, her foot injuries were cared for or else even wearing shoes would be painful.

Walking in, many maids and butlers were lined up on both of her sides. They all bowed in sync. Many of them had the same faces. It was obvious that the design team didn't bother putting too much effort into the NPCs.

Bai Chen limped in, two of the maids removing her coat and running away with it. The dress she had changed into was light blue, the same sky blue as her eyes.

The house itself was two stories with a large winding staircase on both of her sides, both led to different suites. One was hers and the other was her parents. The white walls were decorated with paintings and the carpet was gold. A maid opened the door as she stepped into her room. "Welcome back, Miss." Her room was gorgeous, even more so than the rest of the house. The ceiling was painted with a mix of blues, pinks, and oranges like a sunset. The four side walls were white and soft, thick carpet covered the floor. There was a king size bed directly in the centre of the room, a lounge set on its left and two doors leading to separate rooms on it's right. There was also a door beside the lounges as well.

All this time Bai Chen was flabbergasted by what she saw. It was expected as a heroine, but she was rich! Woohoo! Never would she have to go a day without a meal nor eat instant ramen for a whole month ever again! Not again would she work shifts at ungodly hours to buy a limited edition figurine. The world was her oyster!

Bai Chen paraded around her room happily, eyeing the bed in the centre hungrily. She removed her shoes. After a few glances she built up courage and climbed on top of it and started jumping on it, ruining the sheets in the mix and sometimes flying a foot or two off the air. Fortunately the roof was tall and Lily was on the petite side.

The maid to her side stood monotonously. She was puppet-like with a dull gaze and lax body as if unseeing of the phenomenon in front of her. Lily would never do anything as immature as what was in front of her yet her stare was lusterless.

Bai Chen didn't notice as she continued jumping about sometimes striking a pose midair. On the way here and in her previous life, no one around her owned such an expansive bed. Delicacies came in many forms however a good nap was probably the best. After tiring herself out, Bai Chen landed on the bed with crossed legs. She huffed for a few minutes while catching her breath. The maid beside her was still unnoticed. She lied her head down, squishing it between two of the pillows messily laying there after her destructive reign on the duvet.
