"General Atlas V. Blood, for your many years of service we thank you. But now you must die for the sake of the people. The mage has been given a vision that if you are killed victory will be ours."
The king stood up from his throne and making a rather exaggerated hand gesture. The General stood there amongst the crowd of guards all ready to attack him at a word from the king. He had served the kingdom well all of his life, so why were things turning out this way? All he wanted to do was settle down and start a school for orphans. His dream had been the only thing keeping him going through the long and strenuous battles over the years. He wanted to make the kingdom a better place so that no one would end up with the same life that he had, and now after all of his work the king treated him this way.
"If you do not accept, all of the children at that project of yours will be killed, if you do accept then I promise that each of them will be given a good home and education. Know that this appointment brings me no pleasure, but if the war can be won this way then I am fine with a sacrifice such as this."
The General gripped his fists tightly, the king would keep his word, but this kind of thing was disgusting to the Genreal. The king knew that the General would do anything to protect those children no matter what becouse that had been the way things had always been. The General pulled out his sword and raised it high, pointing it toward the king.
"I will except your offer, but I doubt that you are planning on doing the job here or yourself. You know what that would do to the troops who are already unsure of your rule. So what is your plan?"
The king fell back into his chair and waved for the guards to lower their weapons.
"I am well aware that this is most unfair, given everything that you have done, so I want to add some extra incentive to make your passing easier. You are aware of the army which is on it's way to the capital?"
The General nodded his head slowly, the army sweeping over the land destroying everything in its path was quite common knowledge to everyone in the kingdom. It was due to them that the war was being prolonged even further. The kingdom had already been dealing with the threat from the east, but when the west began to attack it had started to drive the kingdom into a corner.
"What of them?"
The king lowered his head and sighed, before raising up again and looking at the General head on.
"You had plans to build a school here did you not? You will be dropped in the path of the army which will be crossing the great river. The situation is simple, for every person in the army that you kill, I will put one copper coin towards your little project, and you will be remembered as a hero. I think that it is a fair enough deal don't you? Just remember if you try to escape I will kill of them slowly, and painfully."
The General nodded his head and re-sheathed his weapon, with a small smile forming on his face. If he was going to die at least his dream could be fulfilled.
"Alright, but I want this in a blood oath and on an official document. Other than that make sure that the children are taken care of, so that I may rest in peace."
The king nodded his head and a soilder came forward with the nesisary documents, and after the Genreal had finished reading them he nodded his head and signed both of the documents with his own blood, and then watched as the king did the same. After all of the work was done the General turned and began to walk out of the meeting tent.
"One more thing General..."
The General turned and was surprised to see that the king and all of the soilders present were saluting.
"Thank you for your sacrifice mentor, this will not be overlooked."
The General saw a tear starting to form in the kings eyes and waved to him before walking out of the tent.
"Goodbye for now, see you in the next life."
As he walked away he steeled himself for his fate, he was growing older and he had lived a rather long life. But he still wished that he could have been able to teach at least one group of students, he also wished that he could have said goodbye to the children one more time. These things were the only thoughts that filled his mind as he made his way to the place of his death. He rode his battle horse Joker to the edge of the battlefield for the last time. Three soilders had accompanied him to insure that he didn't try to escape, but they almost wished that he would, and if he had tried they would have helped him to so even if it cost them their own lives.
The General suddenly dismounted and looked to the soilders who emidiatly did the same.
"Thank you for coming this far with me. As a favor to an old man, please make sure that Joker is taken care of."
He patted the horse's neck and handed the reins over to one of the soilders who nodded their heads in understanding.
"He might get a bit crazy sometimes, but he is a good friend."
He rapped his arms around the horse's neck and gave it a small kiss on its nose as a goodbye, before turning to the soilders.
"Thank you for this. Now you had better get going, after all the army will be here at any moment."
He smiled at them and then turned to the battlefield ahead of him. He would take out as many people as he was allowed, and he would make enough so that the school would be built no matter what.
He waited there for twenty minutes before the army came into veiw, their number covered the ridge and as they poured into the valley it turned black with soilders. He drew out his sward and stabbed it into the ground, waiting for the line to draw near.
"Who are you, and why do you stand in our path?"
The leader of the army raised his voice towards the lone soilder standing in their path without any fear. But the response that he received did nothing to solve his confusion.
"One hundred coppers in a silver, one hundred silvers in a gold, one hundred gold for my goal, so all that I need are ten million sacrifices to build a proper school."
The General had put these numbers into his head, and thrown everything else out. He was no longer a person, he was a goal, he needed to take out ten million enemies no matter what it took. He pulled his sword out of the ground and began charging tward the line of soilders without hesitation.
At fist the commander had no idea what to think of what he was seeing at the moment, and he couldn't quite rap his head around the fact that a singular old man was charging tward them with the intent to kill, until the old man reached the line and cut down ten people with the strike of a sword before they could defend themselves.
"Attack!!!"
That was the last word that the leading commander was able to get out before he was cut down along with those around him. As he fell to the ground he watched as the old man cut through rank after rank of fighters without hesitation.
The General slaughtered everyone in his path for days on end without stopping for a second, every couple hours his weapon would break and he would pick up one from the dead lying on the ground. He began to lose track of time and his eyes were unable to see anything until finally his sword swung into absolutely nothing. His eyes cleared up and he saw that he was standing in a pile of corpses.
"Nine million nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine down..."
He fell to his knees in the lake of blood which covered the feild and let out a scream of frustration. Rain began to fall from the sky cleansing his face. He was tired, now that there was no one left to kill what would he do? There was still one left... He tried to pull himself to his feet but he couldn't move a muscle. He had failed to accomplish his mission and now he would die in a pool of his enemies blood without a scratch on him it was almost pathetic. As his eyes closed he wondered if the king would pay the extra copper for old times sake, and then everything faded to black.
"Congratulations!!! You are dead!!!"
The General opened his eyes and found that he was in a strange place surrounded by white flowers. He was no longer covered in blood and tattered armor, and was instead in a simple white tunic. He sat up and saw that the person who had said such a rude thing was a tall man wearing a strange white outfit that the general had never seen before.
"I don't really have time to explain things to you properly so I'll give you the short version. We need you to teach a class of students becouse reasons, and that is all that you really need to know. When you arrive at your new location you will be provided with the nesisary information on your new world, so bye!"
Suddenly the General's vision faded once more and once more he woke up in a strange location. He sat up and found that he was wearing strange clothes as well with no idea what had just happened to him. He was now on a rather strange looking bed which was extremely comfortable, to the point that he didn't want to leave. His body felt lighter and his senses sharper. As he looked around the strange room he took in all of the new things that he had never seen before. Soon his eyes came upon a small book which was laid on the floor next to his bed. He leaned down and picked it up carefully.
