Chapter 4 - Class is in Session

Atlas stood infront of the class room smiling at the children who he was seeing with his own eyes for the first time in thirty years. It was odd seeing them in the flesh since he had really only ever seen them in the former teachers memories so it almost felt like he knew them. He had been through quite a bit of messes to finally reach this point, and it hadn't always been easy, but at least in this life he had a family of sorts who always looked out for him. The children looked a bit terrified after they had seen the color of his eyes, that was the reason why he had let his hair hang down in his eyes most of the time. Whenever people saw the color of his eyes they would know who he was and that could make things rather complicated at times.

"Well then, let's get down to business shall we?"

The children jumped slightly at the sound of his voice, which made him frown a bit out of habit. His job was to make sure that these children were able to unlock their potentials for the sake of the world where he was currently residing. When ever he thought of his goal it only furthered his drive to have it accomplished, but even with the memories of the teacher who had come before him, he had no idea what those abilitys might be. From what he could remember, the only one that showed definite signs of a particular ability, was Ralf, but he was also known as the most volatile of the group so it still put him back to square one on finding their abilitys. Personally Atlas had no intention of being a conventional teacher in the first place, he found the previous teachers methods of book learning would be much to slow and menotious, the odds were that their potentials would never be known, and he had no idea how soon the disaster would be. He couldn't afford to waste any time at the moment, it was at times like these that he was very glad that he had saved the person who would become his adoptive mother all those years ago. The conection with that family had turned out to be an invaluable asset, and it was due to that conection that he was given full authority over the lives of his student. Giving him to do anything that he pleased without question, which would make their training go over much more smoothly then it would have been, had he not been so highly connected.

Atlas walked up to the first dest and touched the shoulder of the first student who instantly disappeared from veiw. The other students all tried to get out of their chairs and get away from the teacher who had just made one of their number disappear without any warning, but it was all in vain. Atlas reached each of them without any problem whatsoever and then touched his own shoulder sending him into the fog with the other students. When his vision cleared he saw that all five of the students were huddled together infront of him and he nodded his head in satisfaction, at least he wouldn't have to look for any stranglers. The truth was, even if he had known what their abilitys were he would have gone with this method. If they would be the ones to fix this world then his job would be complete and then he would spend the rest of this life doing what he wanted to do in his previous life, save people who couldn't help their situation.

The fog wasn't all that thick when you were in it and after a minute of adjustment you could see almost as well as if you were seeing without the fog there, it was a completely different story when one was outside the fog. Then it would be pitch black and you couldn't see anything but the surface which almost looked like a solid wall. Atlas clapped his hands together which made all of the students jump in fear.

"Alright, break time is over. We have some school to do. For your first assignment will be to take out that strange creature which is watching us at the moment."

Atlas pointed to a large boar like creature which was the size of a car and covered in flame. The students looked at the creature in horror and then turned their looks to Atlas.

"How do you expect us to take that thing out? We are the lowest of the ability holders, there is no way that we could fight that thing, we don't even know what our abilities are. Do you want to kill us or something?"

It was Ralf who spoke up in a rather accusing tone of voice as he pointed an accusing finger toward Atlas, who nodded his head and looked at them closely.

"So the only problem is you don't think that you can fight that thing without a power? Well then allow me to demonstrate the false nature of your statement."

Atlas pulled a combat knife out of one of his pockets and balanced it in his hand for a minute to feel the weight before then throwing it with a tremendous force tward the beast which was starting to make it's way toward their location. As soon as the k ife came in contact with the boar it fell to the ground and began twitching uncontrollably. Atlas walked over to the beast and with his bear hands finished the beast off with one quick movement of his hands.

"See, it's super easy, and there are five of you so things should be even quicker. Now you can deal with the other one which is coming up from the other side. Oh, and just so I make things clear, if you don't finish this assignment you won't be let back into the barrier, okay?"

He pulled out another five knives and handed them out to each of the students.

"Try to make it back alive, I have to be somewhere later today."

The students all got to their feet slowly and began walking towards the monster without saying a word. In their eyes he was most likely a bit annoyed with how they had acted earlier. They all charged toward the boar which had taken notice of them and was charging forward in their direction with the determination to survive whatever tests that this lunatic had planned for them. The sight of him taking out the monster as quickly as he had was horrific, the way his face had looked made them wonder if he was the monster not the one he had killed.

They attacked the boar all at once and their knives bounced off of the creatures thick skin. They wondered if the teacher would come and help them, but when they looked over they saw that he was just watching them calmly without making any sign of moving. After they had been fighting the boar for four hours they were completely exhausted and the boar also seemed to be a bit tired. They had decided about half an hour in to fight in half hour turns, three people and then two people. This method was the only way they were able to keep themselves from collapsing. Suddenly the boar stopped in its tracks and the students fell down to their knees wondering what could have happened.

"Well I suppose we can end here for the day."

Atlas walked up and looked at the boar who was still frozen in place with a cold expression.

"You did a good job, thank you for assisting the children, here is your reward."

He twisted his hand and a pile of meat fell onto the ground infront of the boar.

"Rest up, we will be back tomorrow to continue with the training."

The boar nodded its head and Atlas walked over to the students tapping each of them on the shoulders before waving farewell to the monster who was suddenly able to move once more.

When they had all arrived back at the class room, they were in their desks like they had never been gone in the first place. They all looked fearfully around to see if the teacher had come back with them, but as soon as they were started to let out sighs of relief he appeared at the front of the room at the black board.

"Do you know understand something about yourselves?"

They looked confused, but they were too afraid to say anything in responce.

"From now on we will be spending four hours a day hunting, for the rest of that time I will be helping country and enhance your over all abilitys, so that when you actually figure out what your ability is you can properly utilize it."

The students all sat in their seats without saying a word, and Atlas smiled at them.

"I will make sure that you become a

the strongest ones here."

The statement shocked the class and made them forget their fear entirely.

"What do you mean by that? We are the lowest of all of the students, there is no way that we could be the best."

Atlas sighed and looked at Ralf who had been the one to speak.

"So? It's not the most impossible thing I've encountered you know. Anyway. class is dismissed for today. Make sure you rest up for tomorrow."

He clapped his hands and disappeared suddenly and without warning.
