He made a small burrow that was large enough for the woman and child to fit in and motioned for her to go into it, after that he piled the dirt back around them leaving room enough to breath and see. And them he pushed himself into the the thorny bushes and covered his mouth in order to stop himself from making any sounds from pain. After a bit, the sounds of people came close to their location.
"She couldn't have gotten out of that place by herself, find her now, or the boss will have our heads."
They poked around in the bushes with rods but couldn't really get far into them becouse of the density of the bushes. The rods were able to scratch him slightly, but not enough to break his skin, just leave several scratches on him. The reall thing that caused a problem was the thorns which drove into his skin more and more as they continued to poke around. By some miracle they overlooked the pile of dirt as it seemed fairly solid on the outside, and in their minds a single injured person wouldn't be able to conceal themselves to well.
"No sign of anyone here. Maybe she went on her way, trying to find her group again."
Atlas waited for ten minutes after hearing the sound of people walking away, but he decided even then that he shouldn't move. The system still had the warning about his safety so he continued to sit there perfectly still waiting.
[Warning!!! Host is no longer in emidiate danger, but should still be carefull when traveling with hunted individuals.]
The warning had finally arrived after over an hour of waiting, which had been enough time for his limbs to start freezing up from damage and overuse. Slowly he dragged himself out of the briers on his elbows pulling the thorns out of him as he went until he finally go untangled and reached the pile of dirt. Picking up a nearby rock he dug the two out of the dirt and then leaned back against the rest of the pile exhausted.
"They left for now, but who knows if they will return. So what do you want to do about it?"
The woman pulled a small whistle out of a pocket and held it up.
"I can use this to call someone to help, but it would be better if we were a bit away from this location because of the fire."
Atlas nodded his head in agreement, the burning structure was looking increasingly unstable, like it might give out at any time. It would be dangerous to leave call someone to this location.
"So where do you suggest going?"
The woman thought about it for a moment and then pointed past the burning building towards a small hill in the distance.
"That is probably the best location to send the message. But do you think that you will be able to get there in your condition?"
Atlas pulled one of the polls which had been stuck in the briers by the people who had been looking for them. He used it to pull himself to his feet once more.
"I should be able to make it. How about you?"
She nodded and stood to her feet holding her child close.
"Well then, we had better head over there quickly then. I'm no doctor but your injuries are bad, we need to get them looked at emediatly."
Atlas nodded and the three of them walked tward the hill.
The small building was located on the very edge of the campus in the area between the barrier which had been set up to protect the students from the mutated monsters which roamed around in the fog. The small building had five students who lived in a special dorm cut off from the other students becouse of their lackingness in various fields. The students sat in their chairs waiting for their new teacher to arrive in so that they could judge his level of ability as a teacher. They had gone through twelve different teachers in the past six months. Each of the teachers had quickly grown tired of the students and gone back to the main building. And that was partially due to the pranks that they would play on each of the teachers. The students fell under the category of power holders, which was a small number of people that had awakened supernatural abilitys after the fog had set in and the monsters had appeared seventeen years prior. All of the known power holders had been children born after the fog had set in with only one know acception. The remaining humans had banned together in a United Corperation to fend off the creatures which would attack at random times times. Once the power holders had begun to apear the united corporation had gathered them up emediatly and put them in the schools to learn how to use their powers to save the remainder of humanity.
The children sat there in their desks without making a sound, while wondering to themselves who in the world their new teacher would be since they had already kept the children waiting for more than half an hour. Ralf, a hot headed fourteen year old propped his legs on his dest and leaned back. His size and fiery red hairaid people assume that he was a punk of the highest degree, and he gave them no reason to deny their first impressions, since every time he would come in contact with a person out of his class he would end up in a fight with them. He was the third oldest of the group and didn't really bother to associate with his other classmates, becouse he didn't really like them all that much if he was going to be honest. As he felt himself drifting off into sleep he heard the sound of several people walking toward the door which lead into the classroom. Instantly he sprang back into his chair so that he was sitting properly, eyeing a bucket which was placed precariously over the door, set to fall on the next person to walk into the room. They had expected only one person to be arriving so they had gotten the initiative on the pranks, but now Ralf was worried. His ability was unclassified, becouse no one could r eww ally figure out what exactly it did, but one thing he did get was slightly enhanced senses, which was how he was able to hear that there Were three people walking down the hall, his predictions had never been wrong on this kind of thing, but for some reason he felt extremely uneasy about something though he couldn't tell what.
He didn't have to wait long, because as soon as the door opened a person wearing combat clothes stepped into the room and was about to be fallowed by three other individuals who had been the ones that Ralf had senced before, but suddenly the person in the combat clothes reached out his hand and caught the bucket which was full of a strange green liquid and smiled his hair was covering his eyes which made Rlaf feel even more uneasy.
"What a warm welcome."
He stepped aside and let the people behind him enter the room after setting the bucket down on the ground. The class room was deadly quiet as they watched in horror at the next I individual to enter the room. He was none other than the leader of the United Corporation. He wore a grey suit and had his face had a tired look to it.
"Sorry about that, I had heard that these kids were a bit on the rody side, but I didn't think that they would pull something like this on your first day."
The other two people were security guards and they stood on either side of the leader and stood at the ready. The Person in the military outfit waved his head and smiled.
"It's nothing to worry about it Dirk, they are just to full of energy that's all. Don't take it to hard, they don't really have a good understanding of things so it's only natural that they might do something inappropriate without realizing it. By the way I think I forgot something in the car, I'll be right back."
He walked out of the room leaving the leader and his guards alone with the five children. The leader took a deep breath and smiled at the children coldly.
I'll say this to you just once. You people might be the ones who will be able to save the world in the future, but if you disrespect him again I will make sure you suffer greatly, saviors or not. He traveled quite the distance to help me out so don't make me regret my choice to house you here."
In exchange for the children being taught in the school their families were given extra protection and food from the government. All of the children were very much aware of this fact and knew that to anger the leader ment death. The story was that he was previously part of an elite mercenary group which had been know for stopping wars just by showing up. After the fog came they were the ones to unite the people and take them to a safe location, it was one of their members which was the only ability user who hadn't been born after the fog set in, but other than that no one knew anything about him.
"Thank you for waiting, the spider leg was still logged in the back of the truck so I had to get it out."
The leaders face instantly lit up and he laughed a bit before giving the person a hug.
"Well that's fine, I needed to speak to the students for a minute anyway. I'm sure that they are in good hands. Oh don't forget Mother wants us to have dinner together at seven so don't be late like you usually are."
The person in the combat clothes smiled and waved the three people out of the class room after he had said his goodbyes. He then turned tward the class and smiled.
"Helo students, my name is Atlas, and from now on I will be your teacher. Let's all try to get along."
He smiled wildly and pulled the hair out of his face to reveal His eyes which seemed to be constantly changing color, which was the sign of the highest level ability holder, the bloody general.
