Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Day One of Training

Mary had booked plane tickets for all four of them to travel to an island not known to many. They got on a plane late that night. It was a small plane that could fit around 10 passengers. "This isn't commercial, is it?" asked Lucas. "Nope, this is a friend's plane. I saved their life, so they owe me some favors," replied Mary as they onboard the plane.

The flight was smooth and they landed safely. It was night time on the island they landed on. They all got off of the plane and unloaded their luggage. Shay looked around and asked, "Where is the hotel?" Mary smirks and says, "There are no hotel, motel, or cottages. It is only us and nature." "This is going to be lit!" replied Lucas. "I'm not a big nature guy. Living in a forest for two months will not be exactly fun," said Quint. "We're not here for fun!" said Mary seriously, "We are here for training, nothing else!" "Yes ma'am!" said Shay, Lucas, and Quint at the same time.

"You all need to work on your strength and cardio, I've been too soft on you and it has caused you to be lazy and weak. Grab these boulders and carry them around the island," said Mary while pointing at three boulders. "Mom, I don't think that it's possible to do that," said Quint. Mary stacked the boulders on top of each other and picked them and ran around the whole island while carrying them. Quint, Lucas, and Shay looked at her in amazement. It took only three seconds to complete a lap. Upon completion, she put the boulders down. "Whew, back in my younger days, I could've done that in half a second," said Mary. They all were in awe of her speed and strength. "See, it can be done. Now grab a boulder and get going," ordered Mary.

They all approached a boulder and proceeded to pick up the boulders. They all lifted the boulders easily. "What are you doing?!" yelled Mary while raising her hand and let loose electricity from her hand and onto them. They all shriek in pain from the electricity going through their bodies. "We were picking up the boulders as you told us to!" replied Quint as he was still visibly dealing with the after-effects of being electrocuted.

"You used your spirit energy to lift the boulders. Pick them up without your spirit energy supporting you. Only weaklings depend on their spirit energy for this type of task. Try it again!" ordered Mary once again. They all struggle to pick up the boulders, but eventually, they were barely able to pick the boulders up off the ground. "Give me one lap!" barked Mary.

They started walking and after five steps, Lucas dropped his boulder and says, "There's no way we can do this, it's too hard!" said Lucas while panting. Mary approached him and electricity flowed from her hand to Lucas. He screamed aloud from the shock. "Pick it back up!" yelled Mary. He hurried up and the boulders began taking steps one again. Quint dropped his boulder when he traveled over three meters. He hunched over and attempted to take a breather, but Mary ran beside him and shocked him. Quint yelled in agony and picked his boulder back up. Shay laughed at him and that caused her to drop her boulder. She received the same treatment as Lucas and Quint. It took them 11 hours to finish the lap.

After putting the boulders down, they dropped. "I'm so exhausted!" said Shay. "Yeah and my organs and muscles are in pain," stated Quint. "You're mom is crazy. My body is aching all over," said Lucas. "Get up! Did you know that using your spirit energy to with your physical energy lowers your stamina? That's why you all will train your body's stamina and at the same time, your strength and speed. Using your spirit energy multiples your base physical abilities. So we will train our physical power in order to be even stronger!" explained Mary. "I get it!" said Shay, "But what's the point of you're going to kill us first?" "Stop complaining and run fifty laps around the island!" commanded Mary.

Shay, Lucas, and Quint struggled to stand. Their muscles were sore and possibly injured due to all of the shocks delivered by Mary. "Do any of you think Mom is enjoying this?" commented Quint. "She definitely is," answered Lucas. "Yeah, look at that malicious smirk on her face," replied Shay. "Do you all have something to say?" said Mary while standing right behind them, no one had heard her approach. A come went down their spines. Mary shocked them once again. They hit the ground immediately and curled into the fetal position. Mary laughed at them and said, "I won't be talked about in front of me."

They finally got back up and started to run. They started off slow, warming up their muscles and speeding up. Mary ran beside them, waiting on someone to stop she could shock them. The feast of them being shocked drove them to run even faster. It took them two hours to finish running the laps.

They were all visibly exhausted, sweat running down their bodies and most of their veins were protruding through their skin. "Good work out there!" said Mary while smiling and willing off her sweat, " Get some sleep. We'll be doing this tomorrow." They all went to sleep while Mary trained.

The next morning, they woke up to Mary hovering over the water. Shay ran to the beach and yelled to Mary, "Mom! That's amazing! How are you doing that?!"

"Doing what? Hovering?" asked Mary. Lucas and Quint ran up with huge smiles and both said: "That's so cool!"

"I'm practicing a new technique. I started working on it years ago and now I'm getting closer to perfecting it. Once it's ready, I'll pretty much have a perfect defense," replied Mary as she lowered down to the water and walked on top of it towards Quint, Shay, and Lucas. They were amazed at her ability to walk on water. At that moment, Quint realized just how strong his mother is and how big of a gap in power there is between him and her. "After your laps, I'll teach you to understand exactly what your powers are," said Mary as she stepped onto the beach.
