Chapter 10 - The Plan

'It's been five days and I am nearing level 100 now, but I think I'll wait until my photosynthesize skill is maxed out until I rank up.'

* (1-star life form)

-[Yaban] (Tier 1)-

•Lv 82/100

•Adolescent

-Skills-

•Language Understanding Lv Max (Inherit)

•Photosynthesize Lv 5

'These days eating meat skewers that fall down everyday has been my main source of levels as a Yaban eating meat is supposedly an achievement, but it's getting harder to level up doing the same thing and as I get higher level.'

'I seriously think it will take a week for me to get to level 100 and even longer for my skill to max out.'

'Anyways I've got a pretty good picture on how the world works now.'

'When any being ranks up the most that their tier can raise up no matter their achievements is two tiers. Of course even then, just raising even one tier is hard enough not to mention two.'

'As the higher tier you are the harder it is to tier up when you raise your star level. That makes it all the more harder to reach the high tiers.'

'With this, the star level a life form is does not indicate their strength. If anything it represents how much potential they have left as 9 rank ups(every being starts as a 1-star life form) is the max.'

'How strong something is, is depended on how high their tier is, but of course those higher star life forms generally have higher tiers.'

'You can't tell what tier any being is until you fight with them, but you can tell how high a star life form they are if you focus on them and imagine their star level.'

'I tried this with the grass and was shocked to find they really had a star level.'

* (1-star life form)

-???-

'Grass will probably almost never get the chance to rank up in its lifespan, but who knows there might be a few that have ranked up somewhere in this vast world.'

'Now on to the beast system. The beast system works pretty much exactly as the class system, but beasts evolve into a higher species instead of classes. It's not uncommon for a species to change into another after ranking up.'

'Such an example is that a tree that has a lucky encounter such as surviving after being hit by lightning or something can rank up and evolve into a species that no longer is rooted to the ground and gain sentience'

'Another difference between the two is that for those that follow the class system when they rank up the process is instantaneous like a flash of inspiration. While for beasts they must find a safe place or have someone or another beast they trust to guard them as they become vulnerable when they rank up.'

'The period of time of vulnerability is normally a few hours, but gets longer the higher the star life form they are and tier they are evolving into.'

'But to compensate this those that follow the beast system are generally a bit stronger than those of the same tier that follow the class system.'

'Another interesting thing is that there are a few special variations when ranking up. For the class system it is called a hidden class and for the beast system it is a mutated beast.'

'Then there are the gods. Gods are being who had reached tier 10 and ascended into godhood. There are three classifications for gods: lower gods, middle gods(just called gods), and high gods. There is also the myth that the system was created by a god-king. A being higher than even the gods themselves.'

'Nothing much is known about these gods as it has been almost 1000 years since any being had ascended to godhood from the highlands.'

'I don't know where this highlands is, but when a kid asked, the teacher said that they were too weak to find out now, but if they wanted to know, then when they became stronger they should go to any of the countless port cities that surround the continent by to the ocean.'

'Anyways back to to the gods. What happens when one becomes a god no one knows, but every few hundred years a god will rise or fall in status with a god sometimes even perishing.'

'What we do know is that gods observe the world and if they find anybody that interests them they will give them their blessings. Those with the blessings of gods will gain a skill related to that god's divinity when they rank up.'

'While I'm still trying to process all this information at least I now have a way to get revenge on those damned wolves.'

Joshua at that moment had a twisted grin on his face remembering his first night with Ban and the despair he had felt in that moment.

Though the grin still looked somewhat cute on the face of a Yaban, but Joshua didn't need to know that. It would only further hurt his already fragile ego.

Sometimes it really is as they say "Ignorance is bliss."

'I'll first need get to level 100 and max out my skill and evolve before I can even think of revenge now.'

'Now that I think about it those big Yabans with a short horn on their heads are probably Yabans that had evolved.'

Joshua then had a small frown on his face.

'But they are too weak. At most they could hold off regular wolves. This isn't going to cut it if I want to kill the red wolf.'

'I need to think of things to do that would count as an achievement. That way I will have more choices to evolve into when I rank up with hopefully a few being a higher tier than tier one.'

With a plan in mind Joshua stayed in the town trying anything to gain achievements and level up faster from doing a hand stand(paw stand) to digging into the trash and finding rats to kill.

With his speedy progress Joshua hit level 100 in the next 5 days, but his skill was only level 8 and Joshua had hit a bottleneck.

...

'Sun light... energy... wait.... WAIT! What if instead of using the energy converted from the sunlight I stored it in my body instead?!'

It wasn't until another whole 2 weeks that Joshua gained enlightenment when bathing in the sun that his skill unexpectedly leveled twice reaching the maximum level.

'Finally... now it's time. I don't think there are any other viable achievements I can go after as a Yaban.'

'It's time to rank up and evolve.'

Joshua gets up from lying in the sun with a faint smile.
