Elizabeth could feel her adrenaline rush through her veins. She could neither move her muscles nor scream when she saw her door was being opened by someone. She noticed a man's feet, he had something in his hand but before she could take a look at his face clearly, everything turned blur and the very next moment, she fainted.
Elizabeth opened her eyes drowsily to look at the ceiling. She looked at the clock, it was eleven in the morning. Pushing away the blanket that covered her, she tried to get out of the bed; but before she could put her feet on the floor, she saw Aaron standing at the threshold of the room, he was leaning to the wall with his hands on either side of his pockets.
"Why am I here?" she asked him in a sour voice as soon as she saw him.
"You are at the right place," came an instant answer from him.
"Why did you bring me to your house?" she asked him again for an appropriate answer.
"Where else would I take you with me, if not here?!"
"Anywhere but not here," she huffed.
"So you are fine wherever I take you with me as long as it is not our home?"
"What do you mean by our home and when did I say something like that?!" Elizabeth exclaimed.
"Didn't you, just now?" he asked her before letting out a small chuckle.
"Only in your imagination..." she rolled her eyes. "What's wrong with him today. He is different," she thought in her mind and looked at Aaron again to see him stare at her. She tucked her hair behind her ear looking away from him and said, " about yesterday, I'd like to...."
Aaron who was leaning against the wall, took long strides to reach the bed in no time. Elizabeth, who didn't have enough time to react to his sudden movement towards her, swallowed the remaining words which she was yet to tell him, "I was only playing my part as a husband," Aaron's eyes stared into hers when his words struck her heart.
"I.... I have to go to the office, please drop me at my place" she stuttered gazing away. She gave an expression with mixed emotions of shock and anguish to cover her blush.
"Your luggage is here and there's no need for you to go to the office. You can work from home, I already informed your uncle," she heard him as he continued to say, "Your food is ready. Get freshed and come, you need to take tablets too."
Elizabeth didn't protest this time; but silently went to the bathroom to take shower. While taking shower, for some reason, she felt relieved that it was Aaron who came inside and not someone else. She didn't want to accept but there was a feeling of protection when she saw Aaron as soon as she woke up from her sleep. She wondered what would've happened if Aaron didn't come to her place and this thought led her to a question as to why Aaron came back to her place?
By the time Elizabeth came out of the bathroom, her food was kept on the table. She looked at Aaron who was busy working on his laptop. As soon as the servant served her the food, Aaron hand signed the maid to leave the room. After the maid left, Elizabeth continued to have her food in silence. After she completed her food, "Do you know what the doctor said?" she heard Aaron ask her.
"How would I know?" she muttered.
Aaron nodded thoughtfully, "True, how would you know," he said and got up from his seat, "but you surely do know what made you stressed up, don't you?" Elizabeth remained silent when he gave her the tablets prescribed by the doctor. Elizabeth took the tablets from him without responding to his question.
"I don't want to stay where I will have to see you," stated Elizabeth in disdain, after taking the tablets.
"And I don't want you to stay where my eyes can't reach you," he said in a deadly serious tone.
Elizabeth inhaled deeply, "I'm fine. I can take care of myself," she said in a low voice.
"I never thought you could be so irresponsible, Lizzy," he said.
"What do you mean?" she questioned him.
"You heard me right, how could you be so irresponsible. You didn't even close your door properly. What if someone else came inside like I did?" this question made her speechless.
" I... I will be careful next time," she muttered.
"What if I didn't come back to bring you food," he said to her.
"So he came back after buying food for me?" she asked herself.
"I don't want something like that to happen to you again," Elizabeth didn't dare to let out any other word. She felt it would be a wise decision by not provoking him.
"I understood," she answered, "but before I agree to your words, I want you to give an answer to one question," said Elizabeth.
"And what is it?" he asked her crossing his arms against his chest.
"What was the purpose of marrying me? And you are not supposed to lie," she asked and saw a small smirk on his face. "This girl surely doesn't leave a single chance to get answers from me," he thought.
"What's with that smirk?" she thought but accidently said it out loud enough for him to hear.
"Whh.. What I meant is stop smirking and answer me quickly," she tried to cover up whatever she said.
"I didn't want the person I loved to marry someone else," his straightforward answer made her heart flutter.
"Why did he have to be so direct while answering," she thought.
"If you loved me; why did you leave me without knowing the truth?" she persistently tried to hide her emotions. Even though Elizabeth tried to hide her blush, Aaron didn't miss to notice her cheeks turn red to his answer.
"You said one question and I gave you the answer," he replied. Elizabeth glared at him until he continued to say, "I know, I've made a grave mistake by judging you and your mother in the past but I would like to correct them by helping you," his words came out with utmost sincerity.
"What do you mean?" Elizabeth questioned him.
"I saw the letter written by your mother," his words gave her a huge shock.
"My mother's Letter?" she asked herself.
