"I don't have anyone on my mind," Aaron noticed the hesitant answer that came out from her lips. It was obvious to Aaron that she lied to him but he remained silent. Aaron took out the phone from his pocket when he received a call. Elizabeth stayed silent and saw Aaron while he spoke to someone on the phone. "It must be Mark, his assistant," she thought and continued to look at Aaron with questions on her mind when he looked at her before ending the call. "Was it your assistant?" she asked him and in return Aaron gave her a simple nod.
"The guy who crashed Liam's car had accepted that he was hired by someone.... to hit Liam's car."
Elizabeth covered her mouth in shock. Even though she had her own doubts about the accident being a preplanned one, she hoped that it was not true but when the truth was out she couldn't help but blame herself more.
The entire day Elizabeth kept thinking about the people whom she found suspicious from the day she came to know about her mother's letter to this day. The answers to the questions she was trying to find stopped at one point. Everything she thought was connected to only one family, The Winchester's. The only person who had the capability of not disclosing the truth was Marcus Winchester. If he was the one who was behind the murder, what could be the reason for a man like him to torture a woman to death. Another question raised on her mind when she thought about Anthony. It was true that the man was sincere to his work but will he take the side of the truth even when one of his family member was accused?
There were a chain of thoughts which she was unable to break and find the answers. She prayed for Liam's early recovery so that she would stop being guilty atleast to a certain extent.
Half a month had passed and still there was no information about the man behind Liam's accident. The news was focused on Liam, 'one of the most powerful business man's son was hospitalised after a car accident'. People started to assume that Liam Winscet was targeted because of his father's enemies which was rubbish but that is what Liam's family members were thinking about Liam's accident. Aaron on the other side, continued to investigate secretly with the help of Liam's colleague, Curtis Parker. Elizabeth stayed at Aaron's house and whenever she wanted to visit Liam, Aaron drops her.
Elizabeth woke up in the mid night. She felt thirsty and found the water jug was empty. She got down from her bed to get the water from the kitchen, she noticed that Aaron was not on the bed. She took the jug to refill it. On her way coming back to her room, she heard Aaron's voice from his study room.
At first, Elizabeth didn't want to listen to his conversation on the phone but when she heard the name 'Margaret' she couldn't stop herself from listening. She walked to the door and stood near the wall making sure that he won't be able to see her, the door which was slightly opened was quite enough for her to see him and listen to his conversation.
"I know that she was my father's personal doctor but you don't have to go to the depth. I just want you to find if he was involved in it and nothing more than that and make sure not to pass the information you find to anyone but me," she heard him say which made Elizabeth tighten her fist in anger. This man blamed her and left her saying that she was a kind of person who would take the side of her mother who murdered another woman. Elizabeth's anger rose as the seconds passed. She couldn't stop herself and ended up opening the door completely and barged into his room. Aaron who saw Elizabeth was startled to see her in his study room.
"You know that your father had something to do with the case then why are you trying to hide it from me, Aaron."Elizabeth asked in fury.
"You heard the entire conversation, did you?" she heard him say.
"I asked you a question," she demanded.
"I cannot tell you anything unless and until I am sure," he answered. Elizabeth snorted, "I'm sure you would morph the proofs if you find the truth."
Aaron let out a deep sigh, "Elizabeth, I'm trying my best to find out that person. I'm not going to forgive whoever is behind the death of our..." Elizabeth was taken aback for a second before he paused and said, "I mean your mother."
"You don't have to do it. I'll find everything by myself," she said stubbornly.
"As you wish," he replied and made his way to their bedroom without giving her further details.
"Aaron... Aaron. You can't leave without answering to my questions," Elizabeth followed him to their bedroom. She placed the jug on the table and crawled onto the bed immediately. "Aaron... I'm talking to you and I won't allow you to sleep until and unless I get my answers," Elizabeth tapped on his shoulder when Aaron faced his back to her to sleep.
"I'll explain everything once I get to know about everything," he replied with his eyes closed.
"I want you to explain me nowww," she stressed her words.
"I won't," he replied in nonchalance.
"You're being stubborn," she said louder in whisper into his ears while she nudged him.
"And so are you," she heard him say.
"Aaron... You can't sleep when I'm talking to..."
It took Elizabeth few seconds to analyse what had just happened. She was completely lying on the bed and Aaron was on top of her taking support of his hands by placing them either sides of her body.
"Dare to talk again and I will show you the consequences of it," he said in a calm tone but he sounded to be sure of what he was going to do if at all she opened her mouth to speak again and she did.
"I need proper answers..."
Before she could complete her sentence, Aaron placed his lips on hers. Elizabeth was frozen by the sudden attack and couldn't move and before she could understand what was happening, Aaron parted his lips from her and looked at her when he ran his thumb on her soft lips. Elizabeth could feel her heart thumping when he stared into her eyes. Their breath mingled. Elizabeth placed her hands on his chest and tried to push him away gently from her. But she couldn't when she felt his heart beat rapidly in sync with hers. There was a change in the atmosphere around them. None of them uttered a word but continued to stared. Elizabeth didn't know what was happening to her, she saw Aaron leaning closer to her again but she didn't stop instead, her hands which were on his chest slowly moved to lock him around his neck as if she was giving him permission for to kiss her. Aaron brushed her lips with his, softly making her feel a strong touch on her lips and in ways that words would never be enough. She let out a gasp when he encircled his arms around her waist to bring her closer. The world vanished instantly for both of them as they continued to pour out their emotions while kissing each other passionately. The kiss lasted only for seconds but that was enough for Elizabeth's body to flush with heat.
"I promise to give you all the answers once I find them but promise me you won't do anything which will make you fall in danger, understood?" his voice was deep as he said to her in whisper.
"Understood," she said with a nod in agreement. Everything felt different, one moment she was angry at him and yet again she couldn't stop herself from trusting him or loving him more at this moment. She closed her eyes again when she felt his fingers touch her face when he tucked her hair behind her ear gently before placing a kiss on her forehead and then he brought her into his embrace making her feel comfortable. A smile escaped her lips when she felt herself in his arms for some reason she felt for it to last long. But she couldn't stop herself to think about his father for the n'th time, she bit her lips when she heard him say, "Sleep, Lizzy." Elizabeth brushed her thoughts away and in seconds she slipped into her sleep in his arms. Aaron who felt her slow breathe on his chest kissed her top of her head as he thought about the accident which happened to Liam. He would have broken if at all something happened to her and he knew that. He pulled her more closer to him thinking about his past. The past which Elizabeth was not aware of, something he didn't want her to know about the things that happened to him. It was not that he wanted to hide things from her when they were in relationship; it was something he never wanted anyone to know about his father and his dirty schemes.
