How science changed the world

As everyone knows, science is the research and experimentation to better explain the universe and certain branches use that information to better the human race. Many laboratories exist to better society by creating anything from medicine to weapons of mass destruction. At this particular lab in Steubenville, Ohio, scientists are researching how to end world hunger by using a new technology that is able to turn regular matter into digital information and then back into matter.

Once the matter had been converted into digital information and then back to physical form it was simply called digital matter. In order for something to be considered digital matter the object had to be scanned and converted at the molecular level, from there slight mutations would start to occur.

The first experiment was on a rotten apple. Once scanned the rotten apple was regenerated and became ripe again. Several days later and the apple had grown into a small size tree that was capable of producing fruit, but this single apple tree produced 5 different types of apples. The first was the normal red apple, it was then follows by a green, yellow, and honey crisp apple. The first four were completely normal and the scientists thought they had succeeded, until they cut into the 5th apple, the last apple looked normal but when one person bit into it it had a sour taste.

The scientists didn't think anything of it and thought there was a 1 out of 5 chance the apple would be bad, this actually made them excited and they decided to celebrate, they were able to create and successfully reproduce fruit because of the digital matter. While the celebration was going on one person was able to sneak off in the commotion.

This person was the test subject that bit into apple number 5, he was making his way down the hallway until he reached a large metal door labeled "Digital experiment room". The balding scientists swiped his I.D. badge and opened the door, slowly he walked up to the device that originally created digital matter, the device looked like a giant computer with wires running to a large cylinder. Inside the cylinder were several pixels, this was the base form of digital matter.

The man typed on the keyboard, activating the pixels, soon the digital matter started moving inside the cylinder. The hyperactive pixels were looking for a way out, soon they started to multiply in frustration for it was trapped. After multiplying for 10 minutes the glass container started to crack until it finally burst, immediately millions of pixels rushed out to scan and convert everything in the room.

Digital matter washed over the machinery and scientists, until it smashed into the wall. For the first time something had stopped the pixels from converting everything, this room was lined with a thin layer of antimatter. The multiplying pixels condensed down and seconds later exploded outwards again, the process repeated a number of times before finally the digital matter was free.

Once outside the walls it was trapped in, the pixels gathered in number and an alarming rate and exploded outwards. The longer they traveled the faster the pixels seemed to be moving, within 20 seconds the pixels created a shockwave the started to take over the area and within a day or two maybe even the whole world.
