After World War III, all the sadness and greed washed away with those who claimed to be the best. There were no more nuclear powers left after war. Two-third population of the world died in war because the whole world was engulfed in the flames of war. Since West and its allies started the war therefore, they were most affected by the war.
Many countries were destroyed not just in the west but also in the east. In south-east, there were countries which were devastated before war due to population decline. So, they didn't have much of a choice except for tagging along with them.
After war, a new age of mankind emerged on the world map. A world, free of country system. What replaced them, were Empires. They were formed by merging the remaining countries together. In total, there were four empires East, West, North and South.
The division of the empires was solely relied on the leaders of people. Many were against it and opposed the idea. But after few years, they agreed on joining the empire.
The West Empire contained the people who were living there before. Same with North, even though it was the smallest. Although, there was no enmity between North and West but they still demanded a separate empire.
South Empire was divided into two parts. One was situated between Pacific and Atlantic Ocean and the other one was the whole continent in the south-east.
As for the East Empire it was the largest. It contained two whole continents. And the strong hold was the middle-east, which controls everything in the east empire.
Time went on and several years were passed in the blink of an eye, Empires evolved and, on the top, was the East Empire. Call it economy, education, athletics or technology, they were on the top. The people of other empires envy the people who live in the east empire.
In the end, peace prevailed all over the world.
...….
Year 2519, in the West Empire, an ambulance was rushing to the hospital in a rainy night. An unconscious lady and a child were covered in blood.
"Sir put some pressure on the wound! She's losing too much blood!", a woman wearing mask suggested a middle-aged man who was already putting some weight on the wound of unconscious lady. She turned and picked a bandage from below.
"I am a cop, not a doctor!", the man responded.
"Sigh! Alright!", she said in a despondently and directed her attention towards the child who was laid on the couch where the officer was sitting. She murmured while treating his wound, "This child is hurt really badly in the head. I wish if I had time I'd have—"
"BEEP~ BEEP~ BEEP~....", the monitor fluctuations changed.
The woman glanced at the monitor. "Oh no! her heart rate is declining!" she said in shock. She grasped a new towel from the bag below and handed it to the officer and instructed, "Sir use this to put pressure on her wound!"
The officer grabbed the towel and did as the woman ordered. "I am doing my best but the bleeding wouldn't stop no matter how much pressure I put on. (pause) –hey lady! will she make it to the hospital?", officer asked doubtfully.
Woman looked at the unconscious lady and replied, "s-she will! I won't let her die on my watch!"
"Good!", officer nodded.
The woman picked up the receiver and dialed the number. "Hello Saint Maria Hospital!?"
"…Yes, this is Saint Maria Hospital. What's your emergency?", the respondent answered.
"This is Emily from rescue department team. I am bringing two patients an adult female and a child. Female is in critical condition. I am preforming an emergency surgery to stop her bleeding. She needs to be operated right away or else we'll lose her due to blood loss. I suggest you to call in a team of surgeons now. I will be arriving at your hospital shortly with a local police officer Larry."
"Got it!", the respondent hung up the phone.
Emily put down the receiver and stared sternly at the unconscious lady and muttered, "Please don't die on me. Just hold on for a little longer."
...….
Next day, a man arrived at the hospital in a black sedan car. He looked like a person who was in his late thirties. He came to the waiting area where he saw a person was lying on the seat. His upper body was covered with his blazer. He stood before him and took off his blazer in a sneaky way. The person appeared to be a male in his late twenties.
"WAKE UP, YOU LAZY ASS!", the man yelled at him.
Jake's whole body jerked he got up and saluted, "Sergeant Jake reporting SIR!".
"To whom you're saluting I am standing here you idiot!", the man informed him from aside.
Jake followed the voice to his left and looked at the man, "I am sorry Detective Simon!"
"Sigh! Why don't you go and take look of yourself in the mirror?", Simon shook his head slightly.
"Yes Sir!", Jake nodded and walk towards the restroom.
Few minutes later, Jake arrived before detective. "Why don't we hang out in the cafeteria and have some coffee. It'll ease your mind. What do you say?", Simon asked Jake.
"Yes sir.", Jake nodded.
Simon and Jake sat across each other. Simon put the cup down on the table and suggested, "Now, organize your thoughts and tell me everything from the beginning—but—keep it short!"
"Yes sir", Jake affirmed. After a pause, he reported, "On the night of September 19, 2519. A case was filed by the only heiress of Guryon family against none other than the current heir of White family. It was reported that—"
"Wait! Are you serious? When did that happen?", Simon interrupted. "You didn't know about that?", Jake asked in surprise.
Simon shook his head. Seeing latter's reaction Jake sighed and said, "Okay, in that case I think we should—"
"No, no, carry on with your report. We'll discuss that later." Simon cut in.
After a delay Jake continued, "Ahem!... as I was saying before I was interrupted…that a case was filed by the heiress of the Guryon family against the White family. She reported that Whites had threatened her. She also reported that her life and her child's life was in danger. And after five days she was brought into ICU ward. Sigh! And there she died." Jake paused for a moment and continued, "The doctors are performing an autopsy on her. We will have some results. But the child is—"
"What about him?", Simon inquired while he got up from his seat. And leaned beside Jake and stared at the vast sky.
"Nothing. It's—it's just…he is just three and half years old and became an orphan." Replied Jake. "I know it's none of my business but that kid is too young and lost his only parent who loved him dearly."
"What a cruel world!", Simon commented.
Simon patted the latter's right shoulder, "Sigh! This is the harsh reality of this world, and we are just turning a blind eye towards it—but—on the bright side—" he glanced at Jake who was feeling down. He smiled and continued, "…there are still some people, who can understand other's loss and pain. All we can do is, to cherish those people. Because, they are a good sign for a bright future of our new generation."
Jake nodded with a doleful look on his face. Simon turned around and noticed Jake was still feeling down.
Jake was about to take a sip from his cup when Simon commented, "GOSH! You look like you tasted your own droppings."
"Aw! GOD! YOU'RE SO DISGUSTING SIR—I am never eating with you again!", Jake grimaced. He put down his cup on the table in disgust, and left the cafeteria.
"Heh! talk about change of mood." Simon smiled cheekily and drank the remaining coffee in left by jake in one go.
"Ugh! Man! He has terrible taste—now my day whole day is ruined." Simon exhaled with disappointment and left the cafeteria.
