Chapter 6 - Life's Stones

Life just keeps throwing stones at us.

From left, right to center.

Knowing that we'll be able to take and endure the pain as the stone hits us.

As if it is waiting for us to fall on our knees battered and bruised, and say enough is enough..

Sapphire Rose had been hit by many of life's stones to last a lifetime, but they kept coming.

Each time she rose from her knees and stood taller. This time around though, life had decided to throw her a rock which would definitely crash her to the ground. Well, unless a miracle happens.

Sapphire had just turned eighteen two weeks ago. She was three months pregnant, on the verge of being homeless and jobless.

Hunter Wentworth and the Fontana family had put in word all over LA that no one should hire her. Even the rundown cafes and restaurants refused to hire her. They had basically destroyed her public image and blacklisted her.

She was barely surviving even though Alec was generous enough to give her a helping hand.

Sapphire had no idea how Bryan Fontana had found out that Alec was helping her because he threatened to cut him off. She could not allow that to happen.

Alec had always dreamed of opening his Art Gallery so he had to comply. He still helped Sapphire only when he was sure that his father's goons were not following him.

Today Sapphire was going to her appointment and Alec was late. She did understand because he had to leave school then loose the security hired to tail him. Bryan would surely go to the extremes to make sure nobody helped his step daughter.

Sapphire was about to give up waiting on Alec and start walking when he pulled up. She heaved a sigh of relief. Walking had become had at three months pregnant. She seemed to bigger than normal at that stage.

"Hey, sis." Alec greeted cheerfully which only annoyed Sapphire.

"Hey, yourself asshole. We're late." She grumbled moodily.

Damn, the hormones were really getting to her.

Her eyes were always pale blue since they kicked her out over two months ago. She was angry at the world but she was more angry at her so called family, and her child's father. Sapphire silently swore that they were going to pay for everything they ever did to her. One way or the other.

"I'm sorry, those goons were hard to lose today. Anyway, how is my niece doing?" He asked her.

"We are not she that its a she, but we're fine. I seem to get hungrier as the days pass. I think I might carrying more than one child." She answered quietly while rubbing her swollen belly soothingly.

The car suddenly jerked a little followed by Alec's girly screech. "What? So I get to have more than one niece or nephew. Yes, I call dibs on painting their rooms." He admonished excitedly. He was practically dancing in his seat while driving.

"Be careful you jerk or you are not going to be painting any rooms." Sapphire yelled at him.

By the time they pulled up at the hospital parking lot. They were already fifteen minutes late.

"So, are we going to know the gender today or what?" Alec asked.

Sapphire couldn't believe have brother. "For the a hundredth and one time Alec, I want the gender to be a surprise." She said already frustrated. Alec just pouted like she had refused to hand him his favorite paintbrush.

The appointment went smoothly though there was more than one heartbeat, Sapphire said that she would wait till her next appointment to establish how many babies she was carrying.

In times like this she wished that her dad was around to hug her close and tell her that everything would be fine for he would fight her demons away.

************

Alex could barely sit still during the flight. As soon as the jet landed in LAX, he alighted as the bats from hell were after him. He nearly fell down the jets stairs in his haste.

His family members were behind him watching with mixed reactions. Andrew was busy laughing, Amethyst and Seth just shook their heads, Alcander and Emma were just worried about their son and two sets of twin boys, one set older than the other thought that their always calm and collected uncle was finally losing it.

The older set of twins Ryder and Rylan McCall were sixteen. They had inherited their father's tall build, blue eyes but had rust coloured hair.

The younger set of twins,Dylan and Dexter McCall had inherited their father's built but had the Galanis signature blue eyes and red hair. They were ten years old.

"Would you hurry up, I don't have all day." Alex growled.

"Relax brother, it's eight in the evening. We'll go home, get some rest, and search for Alec tomorrow." Andrew chastised.

Alcander, had to agree with Andrew for once. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but Andrew is right. Save your strength for tomorrow."

Andrew gasped at this playfully offended. " Hey! I can get serious sometimes you know."

"More like never." Amethyst and Seth laughed behind their hands.

"Come son." Emma called her son as she led the way to the awaiting limo.

Alex heaved a sigh and followed closely behind. They were right, though, no searching made at night would be fruitful, and never argue with Emma Galanis. She's the iron lady with a gentle heart.

The LAX airport was always busy, nobody hard time for the other, but today was different.

People stopped whatever they were doing to stare at the beautiful family.

It was a sight you never saw every day. All redheads, except for two brunettes, and three handsome men with rust coloured hair. One thing, that stood out the most was the blue eyes.

"Who are they?" That's what everyone wanted to know.

They strode through the airport confidently as if they owned the place. Even the little ten year olds had that confident stride.

A common person might have not recognized them, but the news people definitely would. Well, they would only recognize Alcander, Alexander and Seth. Alcander was the face of G Industries before Alex, who is now the face of the business after he took over. Seth runs his own multi-million dollar security company making him the face. The rest of the family ran this behind the scenes or owned their own businesses.

Amethyst had her own successful clothing line but refused to be the face saying that it would be difficult to go out with her children without being bounded by the paparazzi.

Andrew on the other hand runs his own gallery. He simply never liked being outside of his basement, where he did his art unless it was important.

The family got into the limo luckily not running into paparazzi.
