Chapter 56 - Combat Class

As of right now we are in the classroom waiting for the next teacher for our next unknown lesson, during the time we spent getting here I tried to ask the shadow guards again but they didn't quite give me the answer I needed, looks like it's not only old men who need some help with precise answering.

In the hour that we spent, all of us were silent, we were stuck in a thinking process one that was slow but gives the most logical answer. It's talking to yourself mentally of which then you give yourself the most logical answer by default. If you ask questions that are broken down from the or original you'll get more precise answers from yourself. After that, once you do that you play a game of jigsaw to match the info up. You end up with a pretty convincing theory and conclusion.

In the classroom all of us had our own thoughts completed.

"Conclusions, anyone?"

That was what we were all interested in, theories, we could all trace the steps backwards and work it out for ourselves.

"True, "

Dominic was the first to answer.

"True,"

Tigers both answered.

"True,"

Eleanor then answered.

"True,"

Anastasia answered and waited for mine which they all knew was going to be.

"False,"

I said.

We left it at that.

Now to all you people that don't know why I thought the information given to us today was false. The truth is I didn't, I just thought they were giving information after a process of selection and careful word picking. Meaning that they were only telling us what they want us to know as 'truth', but the fact is they skip out on all the important bits of information. There were a thousand questions I could of asked about spirit blood.

What is it's direct relationship to the clashing?

How do we still have enough spirit blood to still have myths around till this day?

If spirit blood was past down genetically how come the branch families never came?

What is the point of spirit blood?

Is spirit blood physically blood or just the name?

Does that mean we have blood from the spirits?

And ect ect. No one wants to hear anymore questions correct? Well now you get what I mean. The way to get information is the slowly extract it out of someone who isn't previously tainted. Our parents apparently went through the same school and same education. This means that they too were left out on parts on important information, it might be that they haven't been completely filled in. Regardless they still had extra information after they 'graduated' otherwise their picking of words wouldn't of been so obvious.

Now this would lead to, if we wait for a while then information will come. Since I'm impatient and bored kid I would like the information now please. So therefore we have to get it from the present head of the origin of the information.

The door opened silently and in came a person, he walked over to his teacher's desk and sat down staring at each and everyone one of us in the eye and he waited for a period of time. The long time made my train of though get shoved into the back of my mind. He then started.

"Your thoughts are written on your face, they show in your eyes and transfer through your mouth. There will be no talking or thinking about irrelevant topics so continue to keep your thoughts at bay.

Now I will introduce myself, I am Nicholas Malligane Coltus."

That's right, it's my father's turn to teach. The genius all rounder, that's what the rumours say, but his strength and passion lies in the military. That's why he's the head and not one of his brothers.

"I will be your teacher for combat, this will encompass both hand to hand and weaponry. First I will assess hand to hand, so partner up and spar, I want no injuries."

We all stood next to the person beside us as to partner up quickly. Father was not a person who waited for the slow, he'd leave you in the dust the second you can't keep up.

I stood next to a tiger but I didn't have a good enough look to see which. We were all tense and waiting beside desks.

"Clear the desks and prepare, 2 lines, face your partner,"

We each took a desk and placed them to the side of the room in an orderly but hasty manner, trying to be quick. Then we got into position and faced our partner. With a better look at the tiger's face, he was Keung, the younger one of the two and the more sporty and dominant one. He smiled at me with an arrogant air, seems he thinks he can beat me easily.

"Start,"

Don't understatement me, I'm a Coltus for a reason! I went in and attacked first with a push of my legs which sent me flying into my opponent.

Unprepared as he was he left himself unguarded. I threw a beginning fist at his nose to start the fight, still, he had quick reflexes so he brought up his guard with shaky technique and he was unprepared.

Midway through the air my first retracted as a revealed kick, that kick was then by a leg which twisted in. He used a traditional Chinese art that had a little rough touch so it would be more convenient for transitioning move to move. I admit, he's good but not there yet. With the blocked kick I used the momentum to half grapevine and get into a blind spot. Then he twisted realising what I was doing. I remained straight faced and went down as a punch cane driving in. I swung back up and grabbed his arm, then with a pull shove and push he was immobilised in the ground with a hand held behind his back.

"Surrender,"

I heard tiger wheeze out and then he relaxed his whole body signalling submission.

I let go of his and he sat up and massaged the worst which I held.

My father made eye contact but didn't do anything, he continued on to the next group and watched their progress.

"Mean, of course you couldn't go easy on me. What kind of friend is that?"

He complained and I just raised an eyebrow at his antiques. I reached out of one of his hands and hauled him up to stand.

"The kind of friend who is concerned for you level of hand to hand combat."

He gave me a questioning gaze paired with a smile.

"Sure,"

He replied back.

I looked across at the other pairs which were about to finish.

Kong was paired with Eleanor and Dominic with Anastasia.

The winner of the latter pair was obviously going to be Anastasia, she's a beast in martial arts, better then her brothers by a landslide. Dominic laid flat in the ground, chest rising and falling heavily with furrowed brows pronounced on his face. Seems he couldn't believe he lost to a girl.

Don't worry jackal, she's not just any girl.

In the other pair it was actually a surprising outcome, Fox was dodging this entire time and when the moves of the opponent became sloppy she honed in on the kill with a punch to the stomach and arm around the neck.

"Surrender,"

King said simply, as if been said a thousand times already.

"Aiya , my brother's hopeless in martial arts,"

Keung butted in and said with a sigh. Seems someone has been sparing with the big brother.

"Good, seems you are all decent enough."

He spent the rest of the lesson correcting our technique and critiquing our strategies in combat. Then time was out and we were picked up by our shadow guards who stood at the open doorway waiting for us.

We stood up, thanked our teacher (I didn't) and made our way back to the shadow guards.
