Chapter 60 - The Angel that Came Into Being

"It can't be,"

Althgar continued to mutter words of disbelieve as I diverted my eyes from the light. The light stage of the potential seeker was a lot longer compared to the tigers. When the light cleared, I swear I saw wings before they dissipated into a soft mist then eventually out of sight, if they even were in sight. Her hands were the ones covered in air so I think she only had one potential but judging by Althgar's strong reaction, I'm thinking it's a strong one.

"From the majestic Cherubim Angel you have received her healing prowess. "

I was confused, what was so special about healing prowess. Wouldn't that just be the ability of an amazing doctor? Or did he mean, magic...

She stepped out of the light and her hands were faintly glowing white, to add to that she had wings on her back. Nobody is asking her about them though, I wonder why? Shouldn't it be big for someone to have wings?

"Next,"

He called again for the second last person, Dominic. I'll be interested to know what he has.

"Ah, it's you. I'd like all my students except Mr Rushell here to leave the throne room."

The shadow guards instantly appeared which to be honest scared the hell out of me and the others. We didn't even sense them nor hear anything. It's like they appeared out of thin air. Their way more skilled then the red guards back at home. To be honest I wouldn't mind taking one of them as my teacher.

They escorted us out of the room so that Dominic could do his potential seeking in private. I don't know why this is but the king said so and it's not like you can disobey the king of earth when that's your only home. Nowhere to run after that.

A while passed, not sure how long, before Dominic came out with glowing feet and a faint glow through his whole body.

"So what did the gods grant you?"

I asked him, not too serious but enough for him to know that I expect an answer.

"Strength and speed."

That's a lethal combination, with that he could combine both close and long range as an assassin and frontal attacker. Dangerous.

Althgar stood at the open door and looked at me.

"Michael, I'd like you to do yours alone as well."

I went in confused but still with a curious outlook to this.

When he closed the door and I was asked to step in the middle of the circle I didn't do it. Instead I asked him.

"Why do I have to do mine in private?"

He looked at me with warmth in his eyes.

"All will be revealed with time."

That was it, the only answer I got. It wasn't really an answer because all it did was create more questions and still left the original one unanswered. I stepped in despite the vague answer. The light lit up, I expected it to glow brown or something related to horses. The colour on the top half made sense, it was white. Some horses are white. But the bottom colour was strange. Red?

No horses in existence were red, nor could I at the moment think of any mythical horses that were red. I couldn't see anything on the outside, only the light was visible, I don't think I could see what was 3cm in front of me but it wasn't like I could check, I tried moving but I just couldn't. It was like my body would not listen to my brain and it just acted like a statue. I tried and tried but I couldn't even tense up my muscles, I felt numb, no sensation was going through my body until one strike came. It was like a long spike that travelled through my body. It was a sharp pain that started from the bottom to the top, I felt it go through my internals and up then it almost reached my head. I wanted to shout in pain but not even any grunts came out. It was like a cold pain, no heat it was like ice. I gritted my teeth so hard that I could feel my jaw wanting to give in, my eyes were shut tight and the pain was slowing down, becoming agonising as it reached my neck and forced my head back. Is this what the others went through? This was torture!

The pain started to subside and then a new sensation came upon me. It was like a thick cloth being wrapped around my whole head and hands, it was a warm sensation. My hands then had a sensation of cracking my knuckles and also pressure on the nails that wasn't at all painful. It was a relief that the pain subsided completely. The light was dissolving into the surrounding environment and I could see the throne room now and Althgar looking at me with thinking face. Then I looked him in the eye but he wasn't looking at me back. He was looking at my hair and then scanning downwards, I looked at myself with difficulty. I needed a mirror.

Althgar walked away and I followed his movements with my eye interested on what he was doing.

He walked towards his throne and behind it was a shiny, jumbo sized mirror with gold embellishments framing the glass which was as spotless as it could get. There were no marks, not the slightest streak, and no sign of any dust.

He took it out with the help of some suddenly appearing shadow guards. It was basically a black flash, almost a shadow, the next second he or she was just there. He came down with the mirror and before turning it towards me he flicked his wrist which then sent the sensation of a heavy cloth in my body away. Now it just felt normal.

He turned the mirror around and I started looking at myself with eyes as wide as the moon. I was utterly confused but completely amazed.
