Chereads / A Lucid Dream / Chapter 16 - Desperation

Chapter 16 - Desperation

'How am I supposed to handle it? She has just got me into her teleportation', was my first thought but again, she went through this three to four times. My whole body felt it, it felt like someone just threw my body into the air. It must have been tough for her every time she had to go through this. And where the hell did she bring me? I looked around and yes, it was her room.

I whispered her name softly so that her parents wouldn't freak out finding us here. It was not easy, she wouldn't wake up. I slowly walked to the door and opened it. When I saw no one out there, I decided. I went out and there her mother came from the garden side.

"Prakash! When did you come?"

'Okay, let's do this naturally!', I said to myself. "Just now, Aunty." I stood there awkwardly, I was not sure whether to tell her that she fainted or not. It was better to tell her, she was about to find out soon anyway. So I spilt the beans, "I came here with Sita. But… she fainted earlier so I brought her here."

"What? Where is she?", she was scared as expected.

"She's in her room.", she ran to her room and checked on her.

"Stay here, Prakash.", she fled to the kitchen and brought some water. In the meantime, I tried to wake her up. She made some sound and frowned with her hands on her head. She looked so much in pain. Her mother fed the water and thanked me for bringing her home safe. Sita told that she was hungry, so her mother hurried to the kitchen.

"Sigh! Are you okay?"

"Ah, I am fine. Are you in pain anywhere?", I didn't answer.

"Does that matter? You are not normal!"

"That matters, I know how it pains when you teleport.", she was not happy about this.

"Don't think about anything and rest well for now. We'll talk about this later.", Sita's mother brought some Idly with her.

Aunty insisted I had some Idly too, but I left saying, I was tired and would like to sleep first. She thanked me once again and when I was about to leave, Sita's father returned home after a morning walk. I greeted him and rushed home. I heard Aunty feeding Uncle about the incident, as I walked. It was a hectic morning.

Mom nagged me for losing weight as soon as I entered home. I couldn't be bothered by it.

"I am tired ma, I couldn't sleep well on the bus.", I strode to my bed and fell hard into it, "Don't wake me up!"

I woke up that afternoon after a long nap, but it did not wash away the fatigue and pain. I texted Sita.

"You fine?"

There was no reply.

I tossed the phone, washed up and had lunch with mom. Dad had left to work. I told my mom about Sita too. She would hear it from her mother even if I did not say anything. Mom started talking about how they were healthy when they were about our age. She was saying she would visit Sita that evening. I used to go to Sita's place when we were younger a lot, for doing homework, doing project works, playing and I remember once we neighbourhood friends searching neem leaves in bi-cycle when Sita had smallpox. I had once tricked her to eat tender neem leaves saying it didn't taste bitter at the tender stage.

I heard a notification ringtone. It was a reply from Sita.

"Yes. Are YOU fine?"

"Do you feel like this every time you teleport?"

"Feel what?"

"The pain…"

"So you are still in pain after all.

Sorry!"

"Don't be! Can I ask you something?"

"Hmm!"

"This is the fourth time you have teleported if I'm not wrong. Have you detected the reason?"

"I already guessed that it happens when I sleep. But from what we have seen this morning, it could be me getting unconscious counts too…"

"Can you control the destination or what?"

"I guess, yes!"

"WHAT!"

"Along with desperation."

"Desperation?"

She did not reply again. But she had seen the message from me. What did she mean by 'desperation'? Was it something like if she wished to go somewhere in desperation and lose her mind, she teleported to that place?

I asked the same once again through text, and she replied, "Yes."

"How? You even teleported to my room the first time. Did you desperately want to come to my room in Hyderabad?", I shouldn't have asked, maybe.
