Chereads / Avoiding Love [Discontinued] / Chapter 6 - Job on

Chapter 6 - Job on

Thankfully, if I remember right, it would be a few days before the next chapter of the prologue... right?

Now, I have to think... think before I get suck deeper into this damn hellhole.

That vampire at the library... with Kyle just now... a creature from Hell, what else?

Hell is the same as here as back in my previous life. What we all think of it, cursed and ruin souls getting a hell lot of pain in a fiery hellhole.

Except, here, the souls transform into monsters, like that vampire in the library.

Hell was supposed to be maintain by God, but now...

And what was the purpose of that happening in the prologue...?

... ... ... ...

Then, I remembered. In Angel's Love, Kyle was supposed to simply warn the heroine about the circumstances happening and she rushed to him to find out what he meant. The vampire was never supposed to be there. Only at the end of the prologue, but not now.

Does this mean that the story might be getting out of hand?

I will simply make my own story.

That was what all reincarnated people say, but does it actually work for them? They ended up with men falling love with them left, right and center.

Can't I just try?

Well then, what's next? The next character, because they seemed to be popping out of nowhere.

I was unfortunately right at that point.

"So, the school holidays are going to end soon. Are you going to enroll to school?" Katya asked.

I flapped my hand dismissively. "School is a waste of time. I've already learned everything I need to know."

"Then, what are you going to do?" Adam asked.

"Work," I let the word tumble out from my mouth. What else can I do, if not school. At least I will earn money for it and maybe have enough to go to an island in Milwaukee... and live my days love free and peacefully...

"Work? Seriously? Isn't that worse than school?" Adam asked.

"If I like it, it won't be worse. In fact, I'm going to interview tomorrow."

"Interview? Already?" Katya spluttered.

"I'm going to be bored eventually from just reading books and playing games. Nah, just do something productive," I gave out my reasoning.

"What? Are you going to become a priestess and be ordained?" Adam teased, for my obsessive religions.

I shook my head. They both looked surprised. "No, something lucrative, like being an accountant." I was Monopoly Queen back in my previous life and my math is superb. This would no doubt be good for me.

"Well, good luck," they both said, "You'll need it."

How right they were...

***

I was wearing a crisp business dress and was walking to the company address on a slip of paper. Right on time, I proceeded to the boss' room to be interviewed. What shocked me was that the boss was so young. About my age.

Blue fiery eyes and a shock of green hair, crisp and curt, he does strike as an adult but there was also plainly childish about him that struck me toward my age group, he was staring at me arrogantly and with contempt.

"I didn't expect the applicant to be so young," His lips curled into an unpleasant smile.

"I didn't expect the boss to be so young," I retorted back. He looked aback, shocked and had a frown on his face.

"Unless you are Sherlock Holmes, don't deduce out what you can't explain," the boy said dismissively.

"So, how old are you?" I asked.

"Age does not matter," he said curtly. "State your name and experience."

"Krista Loverin," I said, and a black look suddenly appeared but disappeared as quickly that one would have thought they hallucinated it. I plough on, "PhD in Mathematics and has interned at another company before." I gave the files as authenticity.

Actually, I did get the PhD, thank online classes and being a genius, but the internship was a lie, thank the Internet for being the most useful tool in the world.

The boy (because I'm nearly certain of it) just harrumphed.

"How am I certain that this was not all forged?" The boy asked sternly.

Lying well was truthfully the survival tactic for the business world, so as in the stardom world. So, I got this covered.

"You can phoned them for authenticity and I am certain that they will confirm," I said calmly. The PhD, definitely, and the fake company, all is needed is a fake number and a voice changer. Why fo you think there are many successful con artists?

There was still this skeptical look on his face but begrudgingly he held out his hand, "I am a very strict person so one move..."

I shook his hand, face impassive save for a smile, "Of course, Mr...."

"Salazar. Scott Salazar," he said.

I stiffened. Scott Salazar, the third capture target of the faction, Rouge. Filled with angels of ambition and cunning. Right now, I just decided to give a fake smile and decided to ignore him as much as I possibly could.

"Sure, Mr. Salazar. Then..."

"Work, starting tomorrow 9 sharp," he said dismissively, going back to his work.

"Yes, sir," I said, and decided to leave when the door burst open and a black mask assassin went out, knife branded, his eyes at Scott.

"Aahhh!" I screamed, and never without it, I took out the pepper spray to his eyes.

"Agh!" He screamed, still holding the knife and slashing out of nowhere but his other hand furiously wiping his eyes.

Thank God for martial arts in my previous life as I immediately simultaneously knee drop him at the groin and twist his knife arm to get the knife and put it at hold on his throat.

Scott only stood there, arms folded with a smile.

"Thanks a lot for your help," I spat.

"You had it covered," he just smiled, "You got spunk, Loverin. You might be a great asset after all."

"And you might be very dead if not for me," I said. How quickly he changed his tone after the event. Kyle's words flashed before me: Be careful with everyone...

Such a truth of my situation.

He was about to retort when the door opened again to reveal two, more welcomed, people. At least they didn't run here with a knife.

The first was a lady, whose hands was on her mouth at seeing the situation as she squeaked, "I will call the police now." And she rushed off.

Another person, a girl with auburn hair and a hard honey eyed look just shook her head, smiling at the whole situation. She came over and immediately karate chop at the assassin, who immediately lost consciousness.

"There. You can let go of the knife now," the girl said.

I did, as Scott shook his head, saying, "Same ol' Hanna."

"Well," she said briskly, "I was just going to visit you, and this happens," she flapped dismissively at the assassin. "You really need to work on that attitude of yours."

"And not you?" Scott asked with a smile.

Then, Hanna looked at me, quite empty, and said, "I think your business is done here."

I bowed my head and immediately left the scene.

Hanna Cruze, rival for Scott, politician of a great party and demonic at it too. Truthfully, you wouldn't believe they were angels, but even angels need covers at Earth, right?

The job had gone better than I thought, except for that assassin. And thus, the chapter ends.

Which was sort of anticlimactic, because the heroine would of course have demanded the reason for the assassin's presence.

They would say it was business related.

But I know it was Heaven related.

All the more reason to avoid those angels as soon as possible...
