Chapter 9 - Behind the alleys

"What's up?" I asked Adam and Katya, who were up in the morning and looking gloomy.

It's been a week since my bar hopping and ever since, strange unusual things have been happening. In fact, with each happening, I have noticed Scott, Hanna, Adam and Katya, the characters consistent in my life to be more dour and crazy protective of me.

I have a vague idea of what's happening, but not much, because per usual, I forgotten much of the otome game's plot until a certain event pops the memory out.

"Another killing, brains eaten out of his skull," Adam said dully.

"That's gross," I said.

"Are you going out?" Katya asked, noticing my purse.

"Yes, I just want to explore the boulevards. No big deal," I said dismissively.

Katya and Adam looked at each other before both saying at the same time, "Be careful."

"What am I?" I asked, "6 years old?"

Then, I walked off, huffing.

But I don't necessarily blame their worries. Brain eating people on the loose, what the heck, law?

Either way, I decided to leave on my own to the hustle and bustle of city, although with a slight worry of a maniac prowling around, everyone resumed their daily business. Because why worry when it hasn't gotten so serious yet?

There were a lot of things I wanted to do, the boutique, the bookstore, the library... which I would have done if I weren't so unlucky. I wanted to take a shortcut and sparse of people to go to a bookstore. That's where my luck fell to the bottom.

I stumbled upon a body, his brains eaten out as could be seen by the freaking bloody top.

I immediately backed away, figuring out that taking the long way with plenty of people wouldn't hurt after all.

"Where do you think you are going?" a voice whispered.

Fear gripped me as I turned around to notice a dark looking dude, tanned and scruffy with dark sea green hair and wide midnight blue eyes dilated almost to black. Blood was tattering his clothes.

"Are you OK?" He then asked me, as he looked at the body and then at me. He was slowly approaching me and I was slowly backing away... until my back hit a solid brick wall.

"What... what did you do?" I asked, my voice more calm than I actually feel.

"Huh?" The boy said, "Nothing. I just tried to save this man's life, but I didn't manage."

"Uh huh," I said, skeptical.

"To show good faith... I'll tell you my name, Rex Rinaldo."

Rex Rinaldo, capture target and final one, under the eighth faction, Shadow. An anti-hero of sorts with the air of mystique and darkness that it was hard to believe he was an angel. 'Devil' was a better term to suit for this boy. But don't be fooled by his good nature, because much deeper is where his true heart lies.

Before those 8 males, he was SO my type... but now...

"Krista Loverin," I blurted out, and immediately, as expected, his demeanor changed. Darkness seeped into his image, his eyes immediately fathomless.

"You chose the wrong time to come here. You are coming with me," Rex said.

I laughed, "You think I will?" I was immediately on guard with this male, taser at the ready.

"Oh yes, you have no idea what you hold in this situation..." Rex said.

"Why? What's-" I began, but was interrupted by another voice that said, "What's going on?"

It was a girl, her white hair scruffy and flecked with dirt and ice cold penetrating eyes.

"It's time. I have found her," Rex said shortly.

"Finally, this will all be over and done with. God will surely sway to your position once you got the girl," the girl said.

"Shh, Ray, do you want to reveal everything to this mere mortal?" Rex asked.

Ray Niki, rival of Rex. A complete sadist and violent girl whose fist attribute better than her smarts. Brute force was all there was to it for her, and unfortunately it would go downhill for anyone whoever made her an enemy.

And God... mortal... those words: it's all getting closer.

'It's starting...' a voice echoed.

Indeed, it was right, the second last chapter and the final meeting of the cast was upon me, meaning...

"GET OFF ME!!!!" I screamed, and trashed around.

But Rey, being more streetwise, was stronger than me. He pinned me down to the ground, that my hands can't even reach the taser to zap him.

"You don't know what's going on, so I'll let that slide. But stop being stubborn now... come quietly with us. It will be a better fate coming with us than what is to come if you don't..."

"Will that be?" I snapped, "I don't think so."

"Do you know why the killings happen? Anything strange in your life..." He said softly.

The heroine's face would show something, but I'll betray nothing. Instead, I scoffed, "It's none of your business anyone. You can freak off."

"You'll find out soon enough. It's time," he nodded to Ray.

"That was easier than I thought. Finally, the world at peace..."

'The world at peace...' What does that even mean?

Rex slowly brought me up, but my training led to me to take from those opportunities... I immediately judo flipped him, and reached my taser, if not for another hand stopping me.

"You are feisty," Ray commented,"But I'm even feistier," she smirked.

It was a tangle of limbs and a few zapping, but I managed to get off them.

"You really have no idea what you are doing, huh? Fine..." Rex shrugged, "We will just find you later..." he said it casually, but I paid no heed.

I ran through the alley tracing my steps, to go back to civilisation with a feeling of dread. It will be soon... soon that all 8 will come just like last time. Will I have the willpower to deal with it all over again?

Why the hell was I reincarnated into this hellhole?!

And a hellhole it was when I saw ahead of me, rotting limbs, groaning sounds and bulging eyes. All heading towards me. Zombies...

'So that's what ate all those brains,' I thought.

'What else?' I thought again wearily.

Where the heck were the pea shooters when you need them?!
