Lyana Debaux's POV
"So, tell me about yourself," Edmond asked me as I was putting my hand in his and one on his shoulder. I was arching my eyebrow at him.
"What do you want to know?" I asked him before he was waltzing me around the floor. I was looking at the gem that was my target for tonight but I have to learn the security first before I can strike and take it as mine.
One way or the other.
"Well, I know your full name and your job but I don't know where your workplace is," he said as he was looking at me before he was pulling me closer. I smiled before I was twirling and he was pulling me into his arms. We were in each other's arms.
"Hmm, now that was a serious question but I'm not sure if I want to tell you. I mean, what if you're a serial killer or worst, serial dater," I said before I was turning around and we were in the same position that we started. Edmond smirked.
"Well, for one thing, I can safely say that I was not a serial killer. I was in charge of this museum that we are in right now," he said as I was smiling at him.
Perfect.
"Do you mean that you were the head security of the museum of the Louvre?" I asked him as I was twirling around him with Edmond's hand firm on my waist. I think he liked it.
"Something like that,"
"My, my. Mr. Edmond, you don't tell me that you are in the security business," I said as I was moving closer to him as I was trying to roam his body. He might think that I was being direct but I was trying to find the clue of who he was. But Edmond kept his distance from me.
Damn!
"It was nothing special. I was just overseeing things and I hope that La Femme Bleu did not show up," he said as I was turning sharply at him. So he knows about her too.
"What do you know about that cat burglar? I heard that she was hard to catch," I said as I was smiling inwardly when I know that I never get caught once since I was doing that side job.
It was magical and I felt alive.
Edmond shrugged as we were moving around the dance floor. The first song has ended but we kept on dancing as if we don't have any care in the world.
"Hmm, it's hard to say because I just know about her like 48 hours ago," Edmond said to me as I was laughing at him.
Pity, you should have known me for my greatest crimes.
"Wow, I never thought that I would find someone that did not know anything La Femme Bleu. Every person that I met has been talking about her. She's like an urban legend or something and here you are, not knowing a thing about the elusive thief," I said as I was baiting him. I wanted to know about Edmond Lattone and how he did not know about me.
AKA La Femme Bleu.
"Well, it was safe to say that I was protected by the news that we have back in my home country," he said as I was wounding my hands around his neck. Edmond did not seem to mind.
"Hmm, and what country would that be?" I asked as we were slow dancing on the floor. Everyone was being intimate and I think I liked this atmosphere with Edmond. He made me feel safe.
Maybe because he did not know that I was having a double life.
"It's the UK. I live in Scotland before I was transferred here," he said as I was moving with him. He has encircled his arms around me as I was smiling sweetly at him.
Genuinely for the first time in my life.
Usually, I would be seductive and flirty with the men that would be beneficial for me but with Edmond, it was not like that.
I felt like it was something more.
"Boy, we have been dancing for quite some time," Edmond said as the new tune was starting. I did not care about it nor did I was aware of it. I smiled at him before I was pulling him closer.
"I think I want to be with you all night," I whispered before Edmond's blue eyes were staring at my sky blue ones as well. I think he can feel the attraction between us.
"I was hoping that as well," he whispered before I was chuckling at his confession.
"Come back with me tonight, to my place?" I asked him as I did not know what just happened. I cannot let him inside my place, I did not pack my stuff for my thieving yet!
"It would be wonderful but I have to work tonight," he said as I was looking at him. I sighed as I was nodding at him.
"I understand. Perhaps, later?" I asked him before Edmond was chuckling at me.
"Perhaps after all of this was done, I can come back and be in your bed, love," he said before he was calling me 'love' in English. His accent was thick when he was saying that word and I think I was affected as well.
"Lattone!" Pierre was calling after my dancing partner before I smiled at him.
"Looks like someone was jealous that I have you to all myself," I said before I was looking into his eyes. Edmond smirked.
"You should not be feeling jealous, love, because all I can think about is you, right here, right now," he said before he was kissing my lips. I don't know what came over us but I was kissing him back and it was explosive. I never shared a kiss like this before.
"I see you around?" He asked before he was pulling me off the dance floor. I giggled at him.
"I will be waiting for you then," I said as I was caressing his arms before Edmond went away to talk with Pierre. I was biting my lower lips as I was looking at Edmond and his physical appearance.
His chestnut blonde hair.
His lean, muscular body.
His blue eyes.
I was smiling like an idiot before the reflection of the Tanzanite gem was flashing in my eyes. I turned to look at the gem before Edmond was moving it with some other guys. I was sighing as I was being out of my focus right now.
Do not think about him, you have the stuff to do!
I was moving away from the dance floor as someone was asking me to dance with him. I refused before I was making my way and I was greeted by Arianna Contos, the gem collector.
"Oh, Ms. Debaux! I don't even know that you're coming," she greeted me before she was kissing my cheeks. I was looking at the Tanzanite before it disappeared from my sight as I sighed inwardly before I was looking at this woman.
"So, what do you think of the Tanzanite of Africa?" She asked me as I was smiling at her.
"It was wonderful. I never see anything like it in my life," I said as Arianna was nodding at me.
"I know right? It was awesome and as a gem collector and a gem inspector, I have to say that it was Grade A. Grade A, baby! But of course, we have to make sure that it has the highest standards that can be compared to emerald or sapphire but I think Tanzanite will be next to hit sensation," Arianna said before I was smiling at her.
"Tell me about it," I said as I was looking around before Arianna was speaking to me.
"Oh, are you searching for someone?" She asked before I was looking at her. I shook my head.
"No, I was merely looking at the exhibition around. It was nice and I think I wanted to have some fresh air then," I said before I went out of the ballroom of the museum before I was in the Statue Garden and sighing loudly as I was looking at the stars.
"What should I do now?" I asked before I was sitting on the bench, taking some time out for myself and how much I need my alone time.
