Edmond Lattone's POV
Okay, to say I was tired, it was an understatement. I was listless and that's just journey alone. You cannot ask me to be functional when I just arrived in Paris and I have to do the spot check for all the security measures and parameters.
"Ah, you must be Edmond Lattone, the Englishman to supervise us. Do you think we cannot handle it ourselves? I'm Pierre Vouivre. I hope you don't find your travel here difficult, oui?" He asked me as he was smiling at me. I smiled back at him as my memory served me better.
Getting denied for my passport before I have to explain it over in the cubicle.
Having mugged by some Roma that was passing by as I took the metro. But I was faster than him as I took out his hand from my pockets and I warned him who I really was.
Then, there was a lady that smack me in the head for mistakenly took me as a pervert as I was looking at her butt. But merely, I was looking at the poo stain on her pants. Well, her loss. I hoped she did not go to work like that.
"Yes, very pleasant indeed," I said as I was shaking his hand. He smiled smugly at me before showing me around.
"I don't know why the Interpol was not trusting the Frenchman to do his job. I mean we have Frenchs in that organization," he said before he mumbled in French.
"And to think this Englishman was better than us? Hah! They were mistaken,"
And to think that I don't speak French. Well, too bad, old man.
"Yes, and you think this person did not understand a word that you said," I provoked him. Before he can be mad with me, one of his officers was in a rush to see us.
"Sir, there's been a breach," he said as Pierre looked at him.
"What do you mean, there's been a breach?" He asked him as he was gripping his collar.
"La Femme Bleu, she has come here," he replied.
"Under broad daylight. That was so not her style," I said as I went to the accident. It was nothing out of ordinary until I saw one of the big jewels were out of place.
"It's Marie Antoinette's Tiara that have been gone missing. How many are they?" I asked as I was putting on my gloves to inspect the place.
"There's only one crown of hers,"
"I'm sure there is," I said as I was putting some dust and shone the UV light onto the accident and the place that she might be holding.
Well, there's no fingerprint.
It's true what they say, La Femme Bleu did not miss a thing. I sighed before I looked around the podium and saw a message. More like a coded one.
"Well, two can play at this game," I mumbled before I put out the message as I have deciphered it and she wanted only me to read it.
"Okay, anything you can add to this mess, Inspector?" Pierre asked me as I shook my head.
"I think your security has been breached. Has the stone been here? Somewhere or in the basement?" I asked the director as he shook his head.
"No, it will arrive later this evening for the ceremony. Apparently, the Africans did not trust us with that either. No wonder we need you tonight," he said as he was crossing his arms on his chest. I smirked before I took off my gloves.
"Well, the land security has been tight and the only problem and the loophole that you have in this museum was that it did not have the security for our thief to breakthrough. May I see your server room?" I asked him as I was looking around. Nothing was being broken which means she came here like everyone else. But how?
"Sure, right this way sir," the officer said as I went to leave the director in that room and I went to look around the server room.
I entered the passcode and username of the officer and looked for the breach in there. Just as I thought it would be, it was there.
"Okay, I think we need to upgrade your security for tonight's event," I said as I was typing something onto the coding and I hoped it will be working tonight.
"Sir, what are you doing?"
"Well, just making your encryption layer thicker and harder so our thief will not come easily into our tuff," I said as I was putting a few more, just in case.
"And how do you know to do that?" He asked as he was very curious about this. I arched my eyebrow as I was looking at him but I was still typing fast onto the keyboard.
"Well, one can never succeed without any extra skills that they have right?" I asked him as he was nodding at me. I put the last line of code and uploaded it into the server. Maybe it will be functioning in 30 minutes.
"There, all done," I said as I was getting up from the chair and went out of the server room. I was yawning. seriously, I need to nap or tonight I will look like a zombie for sure.
"So, everything's good?" Pierre asked me as I was meeting him in the lobby.
"For now. But I will not put my life on that. You need to do more upgrade and maybe get better security," I said as I was looking at Pierre. His eyebrows were knotted together.
"Well, Cartier was the best security company can give to us,"
"Well, you need better. I heard there was a tech company in Scotland—"
"Okay, if you're promoting English product, we will not be taking it and besides," he said as he was pushing me through the entrance,
"If anything happened, you can solve it, right?" Pierre asked me as I was yawning again. I nodded at him.
"Good, now why don't you take your nap and we see you tonight. Ciao, Mr. Edmond," he said as he was closing the door. I shrugged as I was making my way back to the apartment.
I was putting on the key into the keyhole and got inside. I did not get a chance to look around yet as I was rushing toward the museum. And now that I have a few hours for myself, I can finally take in my apartment.
It was cozy, to say the least with a single bed that was closed to the window as they overlooked the Louvre. It has a small kitchen and fully furnished. There was a bathroom near the closet and there was a desk beside the closet. Everything that I need.
"Well, at least I was not picky," I said as I yawned before I hit the bed. I took off my shoes with my feet and laid there for a second. After a while, I was dozing off to Dreamland.
I grunted and groaned as my slumber was being disturbed by noise. What could it possibly be? I squirmed and when I listened to it more carefully, it was my phone, my alarm to be exact.
I sat up straight as I fished it out of my pants and I looked at it. It was at 6 PM. The ceremony was in one hour and I was not ready!
"Damn it," I cursed before I went to take my towel and hit the shower. It was the shortest shower that I ever had in my life. I was walking around as I took out my dress pants and my jacket. I was not in there for a formal appearance, even though if I could, but right now I was on duty.
I combed my hair using my fingers, it was still wet and I don't have time for it to dry. I went to put some deodorant and some cologne onto my body as I was taking in my appearance.
"Uh, good enough," I said as I went to take my phone, keys, and wallet. I rushed through the door and locked it. I walked out of the building and I was being hit by millions of lights coming from the museum and I wondered what will happen tonight.
I hope it will not going to be a disaster.
