Chapter 17 - Chapter 14

Ayana-

Alex and Lily had found an underground tunnel leading to ahidden prison. There were guards so they couldn't exactly go and take a look. John had found telling us we needed to leave right away. There was an emergency back home and he needed leave soon.

We got in the cars leaving the ball. Tristain and I were silent in the car. He seemed to be in wrapped in his own thoughts looking out the window. The whole ride I kept looking  at him hoping I could a clue to what he wa thinking. Or why he got so mad earlier. But of course he stayed silent.

We got back to the house without John who had already left. His car taking him past the house.  I couldn't help but feel a little homesick. I wanted to be the one in that car driving home. But for that to happen we needed to finish the mission.

I walked up the stairs along side Tristian, when we reached our rooms I grabbed his arm stopping him from going in. He looked down at me questioning.

I looked up into his hazel eyes letting out a silent breath, "Are you mad at me?"

He seemed to smile a little at my question, "No, Ayana I'm not mad at you."

"Oh." I let his arm go, "Okay, good." He nodded going into his room closing the door.

I go into my room taking off my dress and getting in the shower. I take a quick one feeling tired, my feet were hurting from the heels Sarah forced me into earlier today. Don't get me wrong they were beautiful but hurt alot.

I put on a tangtop and some shorts I found in my closet. Putting my wet hair in a ponytail, I grabbed one if the books from the bookshelf sitting on my bed. It looked old and used, I flipped through the pages seeing some words were faded and some missing entirely. When I reached the back there was a folded piece of paper. I picked it out but before I could open it my door opened.

I looked up, it was Sarah, Lily and a bowl of ice cream? I put the paper back in the book putting it on my nightstand.

Lily closed the door sheepishly, "Sorry for barging in but Sarah was kind of demanding."

I nodded, "What do you need?"

Sarah turned to me smiling her blond hair flipping around, "We are here to celebrate." She had three spoons in her hands and sat on my bed.

"Celebrate what?" I was confused.

Lily sat in a chair and scooted over to us. "This is the first time we actually found something useful. Finding the prison means we are one step closer to finding the six students, "she said.

I nodded agreeing with her. Sarah handed me a spoon, "So that means a celebration. And celebration means ice cream."

I took the spoon smirking a little, "Really? I didn't know you ate ice cream Sarah."

She sighed, "Yes I know so surprising, right?" She turned to me looking me in the eye, "Look I know I've been a bitch to literally everyone. But I'm not actually like that, I can do nice things for people. And I can be a really good friend. So I'm sorry for everything I said about you and..."

"What did you say about me," I asked cutting her off.

She looked away from me, "Look just know it's in the past and long forgotten, okay. Now I want to be friends, for real."

I gave her genuine smile, "Okay we can be friends. Happy?" She nodded smiling.

I nodded, "Great now past the ice cream." I really wanted some. Lily opened the rectangular shape and we dug in. The whole time we talked about school and how much we missed home. And coming to the realization of how each one of us had at least lost one person in our family.

Lily her mom, Sarah both of her parents, Alex his brother, Taylor his Dad, Tristian his mom and me with my dad and my sister. When we were almost done with the ice cream, I found myself asking them the same question I asked my sister no to long ago.

"Hey, what's it like to meet your match?" They looked at me surprised.

Lily leaned forward getting a scoop, "You haven't met yours yet?

I shook my head, "Nope."

Sarah turned to me, "You mean Trsitian's not your match?"

My eyes widened, "No. What made you think that?"

She shrugged licking her spoon, "It's  just that at the ball when you guys were dancing you looked so good together I just assumed."

"Well were not. So stop assuming." I said quietly. To be truthful I didn't mind what she assumed, the idea of me and Tristain together wasn't so bad.

I sighed putting my spoon down, "So what is it like?

Lily smiled, "Well when I met Alex it was like a love at first sight thing. He had just transferred to the school and I was supposed to give him a your. I remember when I first saw him cute and a little nervous, then we shared our first look and it was like magic bringing us together. It's like you share a feeling that only the two of you know. It's amazing, actually."

"A look," I asked her.

"Yep."

I turned to Sarah, "What about you and Taylor."

She smiled, "Well since you asked. The day was a Tuesday to be exact and I......-"

She was cut off by a knock on my door.  I got up open it the door seeing a Tristain. "Hey....can I talk to you? Alone?" He seemed nervous and a little afraid.

I nodded turning back to the girls, "I'll be right back." They nodded and Sarah continued her story telling it to Lily instead.

As soon as I closed the door, Tristain took my arm taking me to his room.
