Chapter 20 - Eating Out.

Ronan attended a lecture and Jake happened to be there, so Ronan invited Jake out to eat, they hadn't chatted for a while and they both had time now.

"So, what's with the big house?" Ronan was curious about the house.

"Its mine, anyway it doesn't matter." Jake responded, changing his expression had a slight change and Ronan decided not to pursue his question anymore.

"You still doing textbooks? I have a few I need finishing." Jake was interested in the previous business deal, or at least getting his own textbooks done.

"Sure, I can complete them for you, but I can't do other peoples, I have several things going on right now and I don't have a lot of time to spare." Ronan was straightforward with Jake as always.

"You mean those apps? I have your messaging app, but not your other app." Jake was a little interested in Ronan's apps, after all his first one was quite successful.

"I can send you a link for it, it's quite new right now so it'll probably have some bugs, if you find any just send me a message then I'll get them fixed." Ronan replied before sending him an email with a link to his app.

"Also if you need some info just ask, I can help since I've played the game a couple of times already." Ronan offered Jake as much help as possible.

"It's new? really? You have this many downloads and your telling me that it's new? your messaging app is good, but I didn't think it was over 100k downloads good. When did you release the game anyway?" Jake was surprised, he didn't expect his friend to have 2 apps that were relatively popular, especially his second app, it had over 100k downloads already, it took several weeks, if not months, for his first app to get 100k downloads.

"I suppose it's just my reputation." Ronan bragged without knowing if he even had a good or bad reputation.

"Reputation my ass, you only have 2 apps." Jake replied, which in turn made Ronan happy expression turn downcast.

"Well, you know anything can happen, after my second app will come a third and then I should have at least a reputation, if the third app doesn't flop that is." Ronan replied.

"You have plans for a third? Your second has only just been released you should at least wait a while to make a third, at least take a break or something." Jake was a little worried about Ronan's health, it wasn't good to focus on making a lot of money in exchange for his well being.

"I haven't got an idea yet, I'm going to release a couple of expansions for this one first, I'm already partway through my first one, you want a beta for it? although you probably won't get a key until its near release, maybe a month or so." Ronan went on endlessly praising his game hopefully getting Jake to play it, maybe he would enjoy it.

It was then that the system gave him a mission.

[Recruit 10 Beta-Testers.]

[Reward: Unknown.]

'Really, now you give me a mission, and I thought you said I wasn't ready.' Ronan was bewildered.

'Relax, you wanted a mission and this is it, take it or leave it.' The system replied before going silent.

'Fine.' Ronan went back to his chat with jake.

"So, normally I let my coders test the game out, but they can't right now, they're coding the game, fixing bugs and helping with my expansions, and I really need some help with the testing of the game, can you help out? Maybe ask around for people who may want to help with beta-testing?" Ronan asked, he hoped to get this mission out of the way, although it had no time limit it did have a reward, and it was unknown so it made Ronan curious.

"You have coders? you can afford to pay them?" Jake was focused on the first point.

"Well, not technically, they get experience which they can put on their CVs and if the app makes it big then it'll count for more and if it doesn't they don't have to say that they participated in the game so only my reputation takes a hit."

"Well that seems like a nice idea, you should probably expand it to other colleges, not the big ones yet, just the semi-mediocre ones and then when your operation is big enough you can go to the big colleges with a good enough reputation that they will take you seriously, after all, you pay them and they can get experience, especially on your messaging app, that'll look great on a CV, after all, it isn't often that people who aren't working yet have worked on such a big app." Jake was impressed with Ronan's recruiting means.

"Also don't worry about the beta-testers, but you should advertise it online as well, a lot of people who are playing the game would probably like to help you make it better, but you should make a separate server so that it doesn't ruin the game balance." Jake advised Ronan on several things to do with beta-testers, some Ronan already thought of such as Beta only servers.

"Okay, thanks, I'll contact my advertisers on making an advertisement for beta testers." Ronan thanked Jake.

"You have advertisers as well? Well, I guess that's for the best, or else you won't be able to get this amount of coverage in this little time, also you should get an accountant, to prevent people from skimming from your profits, I'm assuming you have an analyst for your games views along with your advertisers, to prevent them from sending you fake reports so they can keep some of the profits for themselves?" Jake gave Ronan a little advise and help.

"Nope, I don't have either of those? You got someone to recommend, also I can't afford anything expensive, my funds are little tied up." Ronan replied.

"It's okay, my family company is connected, I can get them to you for free, in exchange, I want a couple of beta keys, only 15 or so for personal use." Jake proposed Ronan.

"Are you sure thats it? You know they'll probably cost over $10,000s if not a month then at least every year." Ronan was surprised with how generous Jake was being.

"Sure, I find it interesting, besides I don't lack that little bit of money, after all, you've seen one of my houses." Jake said, revealing a little bit more about himself.
