Chapter 9 - Aftermath Part 2

Awaiting for Prim's answer felt like it took days, It seems that she has never been asked to form a party with someone before. Her eyebrows furrowed as she continued to think, but after her considerations she finally agreed.

"I'll join you Elias, but what exactly is your class?"

"Oh, I haven't really had the chance to check now that you mention it."

"You defeated a 2 star monster while classless!? Thats insane, what the hell!"

"Shhhhh, Prim we're still in a hospital *blushing*, but how about joining me tomorrow to choose my class?"

"That sounds great, oh ummm, I unfortunately don't have a place to stay at the moment, any suggestions for an place to sleep?"

"Then you can stay at my place, I have extra space and won't charge you since we're forming a party anyways."

"If you insist, thank you for the hospitality?"

"I know how shitty it is to be not have a roof over your head so its not a big deal, also, I don't imagine you have much belongings, so we can go shopping after i choose my class as well. As much as I wouldn't mind seeing you walk around my house naked, I don't think you'll appreciate it."

"that sounds like a good idea, especially if we're gonna work together long term. Plus I'm not super partial to the idea of only wearing 2 pairs of clothes. "

"Yeah, I wouldn't like that for myself either. Not only that, I can't have you at half strength if we're gonna hunt together. Might as well enjoy what could be our last day with some good clothes."

"You do have a point, fine, I give."

Settling into our final day at the hospital, things we're far more comfortable than when I had woken up there. But the thought of how Owslo and I had bonded kept bothering me. As much as I wanted the answers I knew that it would get me nowhere since I had no way of knowing.

As the moon rose above the falling sun I was able to figure how to have Owslo stored within the tattoo on my right shoulder, it felt like it was a completely different space using the tattoo as a door. Although Owslo was stored, I could still communicate with him and bring him out anytime I pleased.

I didn't notice it at first but the tattoo changed when Owslo was stored, The rune turned into actual obsidian, almost like an emblem.

According to Owslo, The Anophthelor didn't actually die until after we we're bonded so we should have gotten split exp from it.

"Status"

instead of actual stats, bars of different stats appeared, in depth analysis can only be checked by specified classes.

Exp, mana, level, ally list and a map appeared on the blue screen.

Since I formed a party with Prim, her and Levy we're now displayed on my map and ally list with small bar next to their icons, such as mana, along with their level.

Since they were bonded it also gave me their star level, which sat at 1 star, same as mine.

My mana bar was full and my exp bar was only at half. There are 20 levels within each star level increasing by 5 for every star level afterwards, while the first 5 star levels were the most common to obtain, the other 15 took considerable effort. With the defeat of the Anophthelor my current level was 10 while Prim's was 12.

My map only displayed Ranstor and its various shop's while anything beyond it was completely blank. It was simple but it gave you necessary information until you could get finer details.

Owslo and Levy shared the same levels as Prim and I but they we're still in their infant stages, which meant that all they are doing is casting support spells from the sideline.

Since I've been in the hospital for a couple of days, my place should have been repaired by the owner by now. Thank goodness for insurance, It really was worth paying that extra coin for it. Since we were in the hospital Prim and her beast were being fed, which meant that beast food had to be added to the shopping list.

Realizing that I never checked the reward for slaying the Anophthelor I quickly sat up and opened up the leather bag. It was filled with quartz coins, counting them they totaled to 25.

It wasn't an insane amount, it could definitely pay my rent for a year and a couple months. With this amount I could definitely afford hunting equipment for Prim and I.

The reward should have been a lot less but I'm guessing the monster caused some damage within the city to have made its bounty so high.

Since I had nothing better to do I might as well work on my mana grade. Even if you reach Level 20 withing a star grade, unless your mana levels are able to handle the shift, you could end up losing your life, or become unable to advance to the next star grade for an unknown amount of time.

Siphoning the mana around the hospital felt eerie, almost ominous.

You could feel the pain of everyone in the hospital, heavy and depressing. Immediately stopping from how different it was, I couldn't help but gasp.

"Hey, you okay, whats wrong, need me to call a nurse?" called out Prim

"No, no, I just tried refining some mana but the mana within the hospital is so eerie it threw me for a loop."

"I tried the same while you were sleeping, Its probably due to all the sick and injured, but its dangerous to absorb mana like that if you can't handle it, some have even lost their minds from it."

"It seems I'm not ready for it then, sorry for waking you."

"Its fine, just try and get some sleep, we do have things to get done tomorrow you know."

"Yeah, your right, goodnight, don't let the monsters bite."

"Like they could even catch me."

With that final statement she rolled over and fell back to sleep. Looking into the darkness of my room my vision slowly began to fade as the minutes ticked by until eventually I was lured into sleeping.
