Chapter 13 - First Hunt part 2

Stepping out of the chamber, We decided that we would drag the child's body out of here after the goblins are slaughtered. It would be pointless to drag it out while under attack only for us to join him in that state. Continuing down the dark and damp corridors small footsteps could be heard as is the goblins were plotting something. before long more glowing eyes appeared from within the darkness. Three goblins stepped within the lanterns glow and began their assault.

"KEEEEIIKK"

the larger of the two goblins stepped forth with a buckler in hand and a club. Meanwhile the two in the back simply followed in his footsteps each wielding a dagger. As soon as the 3rd goblin stuck his head out a silver dagger whizzed past my ears and nailed it right between the eyes.

"Kaaaaaaaaaa!"

The small body before long fell face first digging the dagger even deeper in its skull. The sound caused the other two goblins to become distracted and look back. Without a second thought I dashed forward and concentrated my mana into my fist. Throwing my left fist into a straight line my knuckles connected with the 1st goblins throat before rapidly swinging my right into a wide arc. The Goblin quickly threw its shield up intercepting my fist while simultaneously thrusting its club.

Although the club was rather crude the raw force behind it was explosive. Denting my armor and forcing me back the two goblins gained confidence. The second goblin quickly tried targeting the dent in my armor only to to be intercepted by Prim. The two daggers collided and sparks flew but due to Prims larger size she was able to push the goblin back for the time being. Recovering from the impact I dashed forward and again let mana flow into my fist.

'If I hit enough times I'm bound to trigger the elemental burst.'

Unleashing a barrage onto the buckler wielding goblin. All it could do was its best to defend against my onslaught and a couple of hits managed to land. No elemental burst occurred but a solid hit from my right fist managed to connect and with a loud snapping noise the buckler immediately fell. Crying out in pain the goblin only had fear in its eyes and turned around to try to run. Quickly dashing forward I managed to push it down and stop its retreat before slamming my fist into the back of its head over and over. Prim's skill with the dagger proved to be too much for the Goblin and before long had multiple lesions across its body. Instead of trying to retreat it ran forward and made its final attack. pushing the dagger into Prim's arm it lost its balance and fell, and without any hesitation Prim shoved her dagger into the goblins throat. The only thing that could be heard was the goblin choking on its own blood as it passed away. With shaky legs I stood up and couldn't help but lean against the wall for support while Prim grabbed the knife she threw."

"Are you okay Prim, we should have about five goblins left, but we can retreat if your injury is deep"

"No, its a small cut, the armor stopped it from doing any serious damage."

"That's good, lets continue, We should be reaching the end of the cave soon."

After about 2 minutes of walking the cave's ceiling began to rise up higher and lead us into a room filled with human remains, bones and a small wooden door towards the back. We found the person responsible for the scream, unfortunately he had met a rather gruesome death of having his face bashed in by some kind of blunt weapon, most likely a club.

"Keep a lookout, I'm going to see what's behind the wooden door."

"Okay, just be careful, we don't know what could jump out."

With a nod I approached the door and swung it open. Small screams could be heard and a total of 3 goblin children huddled together in fear. Their was a pang in my heart from the sight, but I also knew if I let them live, they would only cause sorrow and death.

"Prim, Its goblin children, we cannot let them live, but I have an idea."

"what do you mean, we just kill them and leave before anymore goblins show up."

"I know that, but this is the perfect opportunity to to have our partners gain more exp. and even increase in size."

"Yeah, your right, but im jumping in as soon as I see any danger."

Looking back at the goblin children they seem to be aging fast causing their bone structure to look somewhat off. Then the realization dawned on me, these are half breeds made from human and goblin. Holding the lantern up to get a better view of the hole in the wall were the goblin children were laid three females that seemed to be unconscious and chained up against the wall.

"Prim, make sure the goblins don't escape, it looks like we might actually have some survivors."

"What, then we need to hurry and leave this place, they might be in critical condition."

pulling out the goblins and walking up to the three women, it was easy to tell that only one was living. The other two seemed to have died from the goblin children. They had deep scratches and bites all around their breast. The third one hand an especially deep gash that caused blood to spill all over her body. Reaching into my bag I pulled out thin blanket for emergency situation and put it down next to me. The chains were rusted and so were not so difficult to break open. Laying her down and covering up her dark exposed skin with the blanket I began carrying her out and explaining the details to Prim.

She couldn't say a thing and gave me a simple nod with an ashen expression.

Summoning Owslo and instructing Prim to do the same we walked over to the entrance of this last room and explained what our beast had to do.

Without hesitation Owslo leaped forward and used his mana to turn his canines into obsidian along with his claws. One of the Goblin children tried to run only to have the back of his neck snapped by owslo's powerful jaw.

The largest of the group attempted to attack Owslo and Levy took the opportunity to swoop down as fast as she could and attack. Wing outstretched she used her mana to freeze the tip of her wing and create a blade made from ice. she wasn't strong enough to slice the goblins head off and only managed to get halfway through. unfreezing he wing she tried to pull away only to have the last goblin swat her down with all of its might. Attempting to stomp on Levy, Owslo leaped forward and scratched its eyes and stood in front of Levy for protection. a sudden glow began surrounding Owslo and his size slowly began increasing until he finally doubled in size. He now stood 12 inches tall and a rune had appeared on his forehead. Other than these changes nothing else had seemed to appear. As if following in suit Levy underwent a similar change. Her size had also doubled from 4 inches to 8. Recovering her stance they both went on the offensive, while the last goblin child could only writhe in pain. Owslo clamped down on its head and before long all movement ceased.

"You did great Owslo, and you as well Levy, Now lets go before any other surprises happen."

"As you wish master." -Owlso

Picking up the unconscious woman we quickly made our way towards the entrance. The wafting scent of fresh grass and trees was the only thing on mind due to the horrid scent of the cave. A total of 3 hours had passed since we entered the cave and although the sun was out there seemed to be some sort of eerie darkness hanging in the air. As soon as we stepped out of the cave there was 4 goblins dragging a woman's that neither me nor Prim recognized.

Setting the woman in the blanket down I was finally able to wield my great-sword. As the goblins rushed forward Prim threw dust into their eyes causing them to halt their attack. Taking this opportunity I swung my great-sword sideways with all my force and manged to cleave one of the goblins in two. Blood gushed forward like a fountain and coated the remaining three goblins. Dashing forward Prim activated what seemed like a skill, Dashing forward and back in a small area with her daggers drawn she was able to inflict multiple wounds on a goblin. Being too tired from my previous fights and the weight of the great-sword I decided to use my fist again. Swinging with all my might I landed a hit on a goblins stomach causing it to vomit immediately. Without wasting anytime I pushed it to the ground and slammed my fist into its face until I could feel its skull sink inward.

The feeling of my knuckles throbbing in pain and bones snapping under the weight of my strength is one im finally becoming accustomed to. The fourth goblin clearing its eyes only to witness the death of its comrades sent it into a panic of fear. It quickly turned tails and ran as fast as it could but before it got much distance it ran into a large figure that knocked it on its back. As it began to look up a spiked club came slamming down on its head.

A larger goblin with red skin and a crown made from iron looked down angrily at the now dead companion. "Fooooooolish weakling! Human no scare Stump!"

Stump then began flexing all of the muscles on his body causing them to bulge and his size to increase. "You Die, I smell children blood." It began its approach until it reached striking distance. Grabbing my sword just in time before it attacked with his club I was able to defend myself but the weight of the impact was greater than I had expected and brought me to my knees. Prim launched herself forward slammed dagger into its shoulder only to have him throw her off with ease. Thrown back Stump smiled and continued to bash his club onto my sword. The only thing I could do was hold my sword and have my hands go numb from the force of the blows. Owlso quickly jumped out and bit into its arm causing its onslaught to cease while my mind to slip. Grabbing my great-sword and infusing it with mana I thrusted it forward and managed to cut deep into Stumps torso. My mana amassed into one point and suddenly bursted inside the goblins body cause a hole to appear within its chest. Before falling Stump used the last of his strength to slam his club into my shoulder. Hearing a crack and causing pain to flare, my consciousness slipped away from me and the world went black.
