Chapter 5 - 4

I wondered if anyone else could see the demons in his eyes, the demons that recognized me. They darkened his eyes all the more so it became as black as the night.

Then he walked closer and closer until we were only few inches apart.

Thump

Thump.

I could smell his perfume. I wanted to touch him but i couldn't so i stood as still as a statue waiting for him to touch me instead.

My heart stopped again. I forgot how to breathe.

He held my forehead with both hands and closed his eyes. I listened carefully stilling my thoughts, absorbing his voice, worshipping it, committing it to memory

He prayed in silence. You will think that he was praying to God? No he was praying to me. To my body.

His prayer was a message to me, a message I need not miss or forget. A message only I could decipher.

"Father Almighty protect and lead your child this night." He started, his bass voice soft yet commanding. I took in a deep breath and held on to because i didn't know when next i would be able to breathe.

"May she not forget your promise to her, may she love you as you love her. May she find the grace to keep her body for you for it is your temple. Lead her and protect her as she walks through your path and guide her as she follows your ways so that on the last day she together with all your saints will sit at your right hand in heaven." Amen.

"Amen." I whispered shakily.

His prayers were to me, I have listened to it and I sure would answer it because it will please me to.

"Let us say the Hail Mary." He said and i nodded.

We both murmured the Hail Mary and at the end of the murmurings I said an Amen I didn't know I could. I turned to leave fearing to open my eyes i shut them tightly.

He held me back, his hands touching mine in a way I feared the chain that held my self control would shatter.

My skin was on fire and my heart again started to somersault.

"Don't forget to pray the Rosary Gloria" He muttered and I nodded in full understanding.

More people had come to the back of the church and there eyes were on him now, on us both, but I didn't mind, I wasn't shaken. They couldn't understand the language we spoke, we spoke in tongues.

It was the kind of language that only one had the ability to speak and only the other had the ability to understand. A new type of Pentecost.

What others saw as a prayer I saw as the unveiling of a secret cave.
