Many of you seemed confused about Lucifer and believed I have introduced a new character. But it is not the case. Seb, Harriot, and Lucifer are the same characters who are seemed to abusing Sydney in the prologue and were in the barn on that unfortunate night. You can refer to the chapter named in the woods to refresh the memory.
"Where am I?" She whispered looking at the interior of the room while her chest heaved.
The memories of the last night flashed to make her cower but she felt different. Removing the covers she looked at her body and gasped. "What,.....what?"
Her lips trembled while eyes dared to spill the tears as she looked at her belly.
It was huge not the way she recalled. What?
"You are up?" She heard Noah say before she looked up and shivered. She looked at his stoic expression. Is he going to hit me? She tried to move but wasn't accustomed to her own body and looked at her belly again.
"They are fine, don't worry," Noah said while rubbing the back of his neck. They, she thought.
Soon, she looked at someone entering their room with a table from the corner of her eye but she couldn't stop looking away from Noah's hands.
She recalled how he threw punches on her yesterday.
A sob escaped her lips that she tried to muffle with her hand on her mouth. Tears spilled as she closed her eyes recalling all that begging she did for him just to handle her like she was some punching bag.
"Are you fine?" Noah asked the moment he noticed her state. He looked worried as he took a place beside her for her just to farther away while shaking her head in no.
"Sydney, I swear nothing happened. She is nothing." He tried to explain while her hand came forward to rest on her belly as she tried to make some more distance between them. And this made her look at her belly again.
"Out," He ordered the maid.
"You are fine, just breathe," Noah whispered to her panic state but she wasn't listening to him she would look at her belly or his hands.
"What's wrong with me?" She whispered to herself looking at her belly.
"You are fine," She heard him say, "Our babies are perfect too," He added and her eyes darted to his face. Taking her still state as her calm he informed while getting up to take the meal from the trolley. "You should have something. You were out for hours"
Her instincts only told her one thing. Run!
The door of the room was away but she noticed another door at her left. She noticed his gaze at her but decided to get inside and lock the door at the speed of light.
"Sydney, are you fine?" She heard him say,
With her hand on her mouth, she tried to muffle her cries. "Sydney," This time his voice was soft but she knew his real face. He was a beast just like any other person in this world. She looked for an escape but couldn't find it. A huge window with a thin curtain informed her that she was on some top floor. The estate was huge but not something she can recall.
"Where am I?" She whispered,
She tried to recall anything but couldn't.
"Sydney, say something. You are scaring me." She heard Noah and only panicked. She knew he was sweet-talking just to get her out of here,
Thousands of possibilities roamed in her head but the worst was to get herself in his hands again. The pain was fresh in her mind and she was surprised with the absence of scars and bruises on her face. She looked perfect in that huge mirror except for one thing. The huge bulge ahead of her that made her sob loud.
"Sydney, open the door or I will have to break it." Noah's voice boomed from the other side of the door and she looked at the door in pure horror. She tried to look for the escape or anything but find nothing except a razor.
"Sydney, Relax! And stay away from the door." He said and she looked at that door scared and jumped in fear looking at the door that was taken down after two or three thuds.
Leaning onto the wall she looked at his huge figure and knew that little blade she was hiding behind her back will not help her.
"Everything is fine, Sydney. Just breathe." He said looking at her devastated state. Taking careful steps he started closing the gap between them while asking,
"Tell me what is wrong?"
"There is nothing between me and her, Sydney. I promise." He added,
"Stay away," She said looking up into his eyes. He saw her eyes bloodshot and only worried more.
"What's wrong?" He asked trying to cup her cheeks. But the moment she felt his hands on her face she jerked his hands away making that blade fall and tried to get away, only to get caught by his stronghold on her arms.
"OMG, You are bleeding." He gasped looking at her hands and it didn't take him any time to realize that she had her wrist cut.
"Why?" He asked shocked.
"Leave me, please," She cried profusely while trying to get out of his hold.
He knew he can't listen to her request right now. So, picking her up he took her inside the bedroom again and shouted, "Call the doctor." and pressed the covers against the long cut on her wrist.
"Healing me, so, you can hurt me again? I hate you. You are a monster! Let me Go!" She cried and tried to get away but he held her in place.
"You have your memory back?" He asked,
"How can you act as nothing happened? I despise you." She said and they both noticed some people coming in.
The doctor who was supposed to be inside the mansion all the time rushed to take a look at her state.
She didn't care about anything. Her accusing gaze made him shiver. The eyes who adored him all this time were full of hatred.
********
"I think that the doctor is right. You should give her some time to adjust to things." He heard Jasper say while breathing out the toxic smoke.
He was scared. Fear to lose her. And, didn't know if he should really avoid seeing her when she might need him the most. Given her condition during pregnancy, the doctor fears that any more blood loss could have been lethal for the twins and Sydney.
Even the thought of losing Sydney and twins was enough to make him shiver. It was the only best thing he ever had. He wanted to ask for her forgiveness but he knew she won't listen right now. She needed time to rest and the last thing she deserved is to panic about getting hit.
He gulped hard and ordered without looking back. "Make sure that she is not alone. But don't let her be suspicious of your presence too."
"Of course," Jasper said and took his leave.
Thick fog engulfed the mansion at night. The air was chilly and the night was dark. But he stared the white stoned bench from his large window where Sydney and he used to sit for hours in the evening.
Three days passed and he only went to her room when she was fast asleep and kept his eye on her by installing hidden cams. Most of the time she would only spend her whole day on the bed. Her face lost the glow and she seems sick for ages.
He stayed at home but there came an urgent matter seeking his presence. But he made sure for Jasper to be near her room and got out planning he will finish the matter soon.
She looked at his car getting away and recalled how happy she used to be for once in her life and believed she found her true love. How she was ready to forget all her miseries and foolishly tried to walk beside him.
"I want to get away." She said but no reply came.
"I know you are here, Jasper! I am talking to you. I want to get away." She said and Jasper entered the room with his head bowed.
"I am sorry, my lady. But this is not possible."
"Shouldn't you take the responsibility for once?" She asked looking right in his eyes that he denied to lift up.
"You were the one who took me out of Blake's mansion. You said he was a good choice. He is not!" She complained and said the last word with a sob.
"You should give him some time." He mumbled the words.
"I don't have time. Can't you see! I am,... am pregnant. I don't want these babies to have such an abusive parent at any cost." She pleaded.
"Look at me, Jasper. I am so weak. I don't want such royal treatment from you. I just want you to save me." She almost begged and sink to the floor sobbing.
Thinking about the incident from the last three days she feared this possibility the most. She didn't want to stay.
"It is suffocating." She sobbed.
"I am so sorry. I hope it gets better." He said and she fumed. Closing her eyes shut she replied with calm.
"leave,"
And he did leave. She was expecting help from someone who was nothing but on the payroll of someone who has hurt her most.
She was not unknown to this feeling. Living the betrayal of someone you trusted was nothing new to her. Addison did the same but she never expected it from Noah.
She knew she wasn't going to give him a second chance. It was not in her. She knew people never change. And getting to behind the reasons for what he did was out of the question. She can't stay here to find her lost happiness in the man who attacked her like a beast.
But what option was left? She again, looked out of the window to meet the vast land of the estate around. She knew his people were everywhere and if not there were worst people outside. I tried my best not to make someone live in this cruel world. But I am sorry my love. I am so sorry. She whispered to her belly and shed some more tears.
No matter how much she tried she couldn't make herself to eat. Everything was losing meaning. And then there was this ticking bomb inside her.
I won't do it. They don't deserve to live here. They don't deserve a father like him. She thought and even cried more.
Her mind was set but she knew she has to be very careful. Because if caught she will lose her freedom. Very well aware of this fact that he is obsessed with his children she knew she has only one shot.
At 5 pm, she saw his car coming into the mansion. A little part of her missed those lovely times. And it was because of those times that it hurt most. Everything could have been different if she was still in her bubble of euphoria. Because her reality was always bitter.
Laying on her bed at night she felt weak. "It hurts so much," She whispered looking at the high ceiling. She was mentally drained to the extent that leaving the bed was an effort.
She waited until it was past midnight. Opening the door to her balcony she was welcomed by the chilly air. Her thin lacey nightgown did nothing to protect her from harsh weather. The boundary barely reached her knees. Stepping over wasn't a problem. The height was perfect. She knew she won't survive more than a few minutes.
I am sorry that you,... " She wanted to complete the sentence but knew her crime was far gruesome to ask for forgiveness.
She was about to step on the edge when she felt everything inside her belly moving. Within an instant, her mind went to a dreadful night. When she was just thirteen and begged Isabella for her forgiveness while Isabella dragged her to the kitchen. She recalled how scared she was when that woman threatened to burn her alive.
Somehow, she knew that they were begging. Just like she did once. "I am so weak darling. I am so sorry." She said while she recalled all those times when she talked to her twins for hours. Promised them the happiest times but now she was going to kill them. She could recall almost everything about these past months.
A while passed. Balling her fists she took in long breaths and tried to relax her nerves. "I will fight." She whispered. "I will fight until my last breath. I promise you two." Turning around she took the long steps to get inside her room again.
Closing the door behind she sank to the floor while her breathing was hoarse and skin frozen. "Relax, just relax." She told her babies. The only thing she cared about right now was their wellbeing at any cost. And she knew only she can do it.
"I always knew you were far stronger than your lean body reflects." She heard Jasper say and looked up.
"I want to help." He added,
"I don't trust you. You lied to me." She gritted and his expression changed.
"You lied about me being in an accident." She made him recall.
"I am really sorry." She heard him say but didn't react. She wanted to stay alone and he didn't leave after some seconds so she had to say, "Leave,"
"Here is the card. You see this couple. Just take my name and they will help you with anything. There will be a white minivan waiting for you exactly hundred meters away out of the south gate. Try getting out anytime between 2 am to 3 am tomorrow. The man in the van will help you to get to this couple. Trusting me or not, is up to you." He said and left the card on the table.
She was not in the state to think over his favor. This man was always loyal to Noah. Trusting him was a huge step.
"We will make it. If not this I will look for something else. But I will give you the best I could manage." She whispered and sleep.
The next day, she spent the whole day weighing her options. Jasper was offering an escape with a plan and support that she needed in her pregnancy. She knew how Noah had his men around her all the time.
Escaping on her own was an impossible feat. The last thing she wanted for her children to stay with a man who was so good at hiding the freak underneath him.
She didn't pack much. She knew she won't be able to carry any weight to the south gate and a hundred meters after. The moment night prevailed she donned a long black heavy cotton Jacket with a cream white dress underneath. In her purse, she only carried enough jewelry she could manage to pack with the cash bundles.
Her alarm went off and she sneaked out of her room real quite. It was eerily silent. She trusted Jasper's skills but could feel her heart getting louder with each passing second.
The air intends to freeze her very soul but she walked and held her belly tight. While turning to the left side from the huge fountain in the middle she whispered, "You are safe, I promise."
"She will be safe. Trust me." Noah heard Jasper say as he looked at his pregnant wife struggling in this harsh weather.
"This is stupid." He argued. "You could have arranged some vehicle for her," Noah asked,
"And, risk making her suspicious," Jasper replied.
"I will manage Jasper. But I know I can't allow her to stay away from me for weeks." He said while getting to the door of the room while he heard Jasper say while following him.
"She needs to trust herself. She needs to be alone. Independent!" He reasoned and knew if he got caught by Mrs. Miller this time, she is never going to trust him.
Sydney made it to the south gate. The street she walked was not much deserted given the time of the night. It seemed suspicious. In an instant, she knew that these were the people from Miller enterprise but tried to stay calm.
She knew it will take some time to get to the van and prayed that Jasper wasn't playing any games with her.
A couple wearing heavy jackets was strolling like it was summer and the best time to get outdoor. They must be Jasper's people. He doesn't want me to feel alone. But maybe letting me alone was the best thing right now. It was awkward.
The couple passed her and she couldn't help but turn around to look at the couple. But what met her eyes was something she expected least. He held her eyes for a while before she turned around and did her best to run fast.
"Don't run." He shouted and all the passerby's got still. She knew all of those were his people and didn't dare to stop. She got breathless when she saw a car coming from ahead. The moment she noticed the taxi painted on the car she waved. The car stopped and she got inside. The driver didn't start and she knew she had to give him some address. "Driv,..." She tried to say out of breath while the engine started.
"Just drive," She, at last, managed while looking out of the window where she saw him looking worried. He wore a disappointed expression. And, for some reason, she knew he will find her. She couldn't stop looking at him until he was out of the view and wondered if leaving him was the right choice. I loved you, Noah. I trusted you. Why?
Her left hand came forward to her mouth for muffling sobs as she spilled tears over her hopeless marriage. The sudden urge of getting back to him and ask for the reason behind his behavior rose but she contained herself. She knew getting back to him will lead her to nothing. No one ever changes.
Leaning her head to the seat, she started thinking about how cash and jewelry were enough to make her manage until her kids will be a year old. Knowing he will look for her on the airport and terminals she ordered, "There is a motel ahead, pu-" She stopped the moment she noticed the set of eyes she feared most.
"Hello, Kitten."
