Raising one of his eyebrows at her, he spoke out, "What type of nonsense is that? Did you catch a fever or something?"
Creases appeared between both of her eyebrows, and clearing her throat, she said, "Should I catch a fever to say something like this? I am serious, Oh Sookyung. Let's break whatever we have between both of us. Bohyun agreed to pay me a hefty amount of money if I decided to do so."
"Oh Bohyun?" Minjae questioned, raising one of his eyebrows.
Miyeon nodded her head and stated, "I was actually fond of her idea. In front of money, you are nothing to me."
An audible gasp escaped from Minjae's mouth as he slammed his hand on the table and playfully glared at Miyeon before saying, "Are you serious? You are really abandoning me for money? I did not think you are like that, Miyeon."
"When did you even know me well?" Miyeon retorted, "Anyway, I am here to tell you that this is our last meeting. I will be taking my leave now."
Her chair slid back as Miyeon stood up, and turning her back on the man, she was about to walk away when Minjae chuckled.
"Alright, now stop with the acting. What had actually happened?" Minjae said.
Tilting her head to face him, she arched her eyebrows, and while holding mock in her tone, she questioned, "What? You don't believe that I will be abandoning you for the money?"
Minjae shook his head and corrected, "It's not that you would not leave me for money; it's just that you have too much of a pride to accept money from Bohyun. Plus, you would not want to give her the satisfaction."
The corner of Miyeon's lips curved up at his words, and as a sparkle appeared in her dark eyes, she exclaimed, "You really know me well, Lee Minjae! I did not expect that!"
Walking over to the chair, Miyeon sat down on it and mumbled, "Why did it have to be her offering me money? Couldn't your other lovers have given me money? Then, my mood would have been better."
"What happened?" Minjae asked.
"Nothing much," Miyeon answered, "She stopped me on my way to the library and forced me into her car before threatening me. Although I was quite brave before her, I can't help but be scared now. Why do I always get dragged into the drama? It's like I attract trouble."
"That's true," Minjae said, "Either it has got to do your personality or your luck. Anyway, don't be too frightened. There is not much she will be able to do. She is closely watched by the public, and since she is in her prime time, she will not dare to do much against you."
"I hope you are right," Miyeon voiced out, "Even if I act like this, I am scared about the events of that year repeating. Although I am not careless as I was back then, there is no assurance that it would not be happening again."
Extending his hand towards Miyeon's hand, which was on top of the table, he placed it on top of hers and gave it a small squeeze.
"It won't; I am your lucky charm."
