The family had opted for a traditional wedding which was beautiful in its simplicity. It was held outside. The groom was in red and black kilt with a white shirt with flower wreaths in his hair, the bride walked down the tiny aisle to the haunting music of pipe music. After the ceremony was over, it was time for dance and of course whiskey.
All the while the ceremony was going on, Feanor didn't leaver her side even for a moment. As the festivities started, he held her hand and enthusiastically joined in the circle of dancers. Idril was grasped from the other side by another lad and they started moving to the music.
For Idril, the whole thing was a dream. The beautiful music, the laughter and merry making with the man of her dreams, it was all too much. She was as if floating in the air, without a care in the air, eagerly drinking in the experience, living it to the fullest. She also saw Feanor in a different light. He was laughing, dancing to the tunes with vigour, pulling her along with him, teaching her the steps. It was an altogether different version of him. Idril has never seen him laugh out loud like that or talk to so many people at once.
After what seemed a long time, she started getting tired. Feanor sensed that and gently separated her from the throng. They went and sat at one of the corner tables.
Feanor took one of her legs on his lap and started massaging her foot. He looked up at her.
"Did you like it?"
"Honestly, it is beyond anything I have ever experienced. The whole thing is surreal for me." she leaned in and kissed the tip of his nose, "Thank you for making me come here. It will always be a precious memory for me."
His fingers left her foot and curled around her hand, "Care to make a life time experience?" He queried in a deep voice.
Idril looked up at him, her gaze mingled with questions, uncertainties and excitement.
He brought his face closer to her, so close she felt his breath on her cheek.
"Stay with me? Forever?"
She was lost in the moment. They both were. Idril had a thousand doubts but none of it mattered. She was sure everything would turn out to be fine. She lifted her chin to nod.
"Fea? Hey, Fea. Long time."
Feanor closed his eyes. A look of intense irritation passed his face. Then he turned at the woman who had called his name.
"Hello, Kate." He wasn't even pretending to smile. "Yes, long time."
