Chereads / That Mysterious Guy / Chapter 20 - His Reconciliation

Chapter 20 - His Reconciliation

Deana threw her body into the bed the moment she entered her suite. It has been a very long time since she cried for real. Honestly, she realized her wrong. However, she can't pull herself together after another argument with him.

They just often fought every time they tried to have a real conversation. That is why, in these two years, all was a casual hello and how are you. Nothing less, nothing more. Except for that one time months ago.

She has no choice but to tell him that Jason has proposed to her, and she says yes. After ten minutes, brother Jake picked her up from her agency and brought her to Spencer's Office.

"Are you out of your mind, Deana!" he shouted at her after she halted in the middle of his office.

It looks like he was patiently waiting for her arrival. He is leaning on his office table where his gazes are sharp and burning.

"What is wrong if I get married? I will turn 25 next year?" calmly, she countered his scolding. The truth is, her knees suddenly weaken, and she needs something to hold on to.

"Deana!"

She looked up, and she could see the veins on his forehead threatened to burst any moment from his anger toward her. Why is it so big a deal to him if she got married? She wanted to ask him this, but she didn't have enough courage.

"I have a press conference for two hours from now. You should have known that unless you intend to scold me before the conference?" she confronted him. She waited for his response.

Spencer was against her new project. It may be Jeans clothing, but as they have to emphasize the material itself and the fittings, she will only wear a small cloth to cover her chest to show her buttocks and bosom. Deana will also have a huge billboard of the brand, showing her whole body wearing the new jeans and showing her almost half-naked upper body.

Furthermore, it is an upcoming fashion show of the brand with celebrities, and she will be the new face of the runway.

She steals a glance in Spencer's direction, and she sees how he presses his lips, showing that he is only controlling his anger toward her.

"What am I going to do with you?" he heaved a furious sigh.

"Nothing. I am old enough. I can handle myself, I can earn well, and I know what projects I should accept," she said, making his gaze darkened.

"You don't know what you are talking about."

She looked him straight into the eyes, and she could perceive that he was hiding something. "Could it be possible that you manipulated all the projects offered to me? I just now realize this... most of what I receive are the huge brands." She is now looking at him with sharp gazes.

"Even so, those companies already preferred you as their ambassadress without my influence."

"Spencer!" she screamed, looking at him with disbelief. Are these passing years, her popularity in which he was all behind?

"You can go now. You need to prepare and do your makeup," he said coldly.

She bit her lower lip. Just like that? He summoned her out of his anger. Now he wants her to leave as he wants to avoid the truth regarding her career. He may not admit it, but she could now imagine the whole picture.

Her success is not on her own but because Spencer is backing her up. He is the man behind the scenes all along.

Tears threatened to well her eyes, and she held them as best as she could, but a few had escaped. Her heart tightened as it throbbed with frustration.

"I hate you!"

Hastily, Deana stepped out of the room. She stopped in the hallway and rested her forehead and a palm on the wall. And she then violently wipes the tears on her cheeks. She should have realized this from the beginning.

Not long after, she felt the two strong hands pulling her close and locking inside his warmed arms, just like that. He would come to comfort her, but there were no words that could hear from his mouth. No 'I am sorry or anything.

He simply offered his arm as a way of reconciliation. Which is would only leave her hanging and clueless; if what is he doing or what he wanted to happen between them?

She wanted to yell at him, push him away, but her arms had no strength to do so. Her lips stay pressed together, and cry, letting the words of pain and frustration wash out.

Now back to reality, there is no way that Spencer would come to her room to offer reconciliation, the usual he does after they argue. To comfort her even if there is no word he says, but he will show it by his actions.

And he stopped doing it since the last massive fight between them. So, Deana let the tears flood her eyes, even though she knew she had another set of photoshoots tomorrow.

Her phone rings, but she has no interest in answering it. It rings again, and she ignores it again. If it were Jason or her manager, she would make an alibi she fell asleep.

Again, it rings for the third time, then no more follows. But then a text message she receives. Curious, she picks up her phone from the bedside table and checks the miss calls and text messages.

Her eyes widen when she recognizes the number registered on her phone. She quickly opens the text message, and the sender is the same number as the calls she missed. She read the text…

'Thank you for the soup and porridge. I'm sorry.'

Just like that, she finds herself smiling again. It was the first time he conveyed his sorry. She knew he was forced to, but she didn't care. When is the last time she hears him saying these two words? Barely, and nothing she could recall that he apologized to her.

Ah, whatever. The only issue left is that she doesn't want to delete this message, but she needs to. She wonders how to keep it or save it. Ah, she suddenly became like a teenager having her first crush. She could feel her cheeks burning as it also warmed her heart.

Deana decided to screenshot the text before she deleted it… then she kept the photo in her secret file. Her lips tore with a silly smile.

She won't reply to him. She will pretend that she is still mad at him.
