Chereads / That Mysterious Guy / Chapter 24 - A Surprise Visit

Chapter 24 - A Surprise Visit

Two days had passed, and Deana and Spencer were finally discharged from the hospital and now preparing to separate ways and live in different directions.

Liam pushed Deana's wheelchair toward their car. He opened the back seat and was surprised when Spring immediately went inside and sat.

Liam turned to Adam and was astounded by what the dog had done. The fathers look at each other.

"Spring? Come out, boy!" Adam tried to call the dog, but it ignored him. "Spencer!"

"Dad?"

"Look who wants to be taken home…."

His eyes grew bigger. "Spring! What are you doing here? Our car was over there," he pointed out the pickup truck. But Spring just lay down on the seat and pretended to sleep.

Spencer glances at Deana, but her eyes are gleaming with happiness. She climbs into the car immediately; the dog is pillowed on her lap.

"I'll take care of him!" She told the adults.

Liam and Adam looked at each other and then nodded. "We will visit once in a while to check on him. Don't worry. He is a good dog," said Adam, "but if something happens, call us anytime."

"All right. I think it was fine. We will take him in. Deana's has-beens showed so many interactions since she got close to these dogs. She is showing a good sign."

"Um, Deana?" Spencer is worried about Deana. After that night, she cried.

"I will promise to take care of him," Deana assured.

Spencer smiled and reached his dog's forehead. Spring just ignored him and lay on his back. He heard Deana giggle.

"Spring, remember, don't be naughty, okay?" He told the dog.

Spring whine but keep pretending he's sleeping. "Call me if he becomes too naughty."

"Hum!" she nodded. Deana and Spencer talk a little more.

"Deana shows progress on her behavior," Liam spoke to Adam.

"The incident about her mom would still be fresh to her," Adam remarked.

"That is true. But this new environment helps her get over slowly."

"Am glad to hear that... I am so sorry for what my son did to Deana. We will give him intensive discipline for what he did."

"I won't stop you if you believe that is right. Although truly I felt scared that time, I will let you handle that matters as his father."

"I want him to become a better man. He needs to discipline."

Liam patted Adam's shoulder. "We will go now."

Adam nodded. "Take care. Bye, Deana!" he then glances and waves.

"Bye, Uncle Adam!"

Deana nodded at the rest, then waved at Spencer and the other two dogs: Winter and Summer.

It's been a month since that incident. Denise ran down the stairs after she saw who had just arrived.

"Spencer! What are you doing here?"

"Um, I just wanted to visit if Spring is behaving well."

"Oh, you don't have to worry. I take care of him as well!"

"Am glad to hear that." Spencer planted a smile on his lips. "Um, how about Deana? How was she?" he then asked afterward.

"Ah, she's doing fine. You need not worry about her."

"Oh, okay… can I see Spring?"

"Sure! They were at the back of the house."

Spencer follows Denise, and he sees Deana giving a bath to Spring. The dog saw him, and he ran toward him.

"Hey!"

"Spencer!" Deana calls out for him, and she is smiling brightly. Unlike before, she is way shy.

"Hi, Deana."

" Oh, your clothes!" concernedly, she looks at him.

Spencer looks down at his clothes that were dirtied and wetted by Spring. "Hmm… Don't worry about it. I have extras."

"Hmm?"

"Ah… from a vacation camp." He smiled at Deana; he couldn't explain it to her.

"Oh. That is why you haven't visited for a month."

"Yeah." Spencer notices; she talks a lot and smiles now. "Are you in the middle of giving him a bath?"

Deana nodded. She then called Spring to finish his bath. The dog runs and rolls on the ground.

"Let me help you," he offered a hand.

Together, Spencer and Deana bath Spring. Deana was shouting and laughing. Liam arrived from his round to the vineyards, and he witnessed this. He was stunned to see his youngest daughter reacting like this.

"Spencer!"

"Uncle Liam, good morning," he greeted.

"Am glad to see you. Just got back?"

"Yes, Uncle. They let us go home this early morning."

"Great! You should both take a bath and change clothing before you catch a cold."

"Okay, Uncle. Thank you."

"Stay for lunch."

"Sure, Uncle Liam."

Spencer stays. A maidservant showed him the guest room, and he took a quick shower. After getting clothes, he looks outside the window. The Reynolds vineyard is at a mountain hill. The ocean from this view is beautiful.

Spencer is enjoying sightseeing when a knock on the door. He opened it and saw it was Denise.

"Hi! I just wanted to tell you that lunch is serving now. So you can come down now."

"All right, thanks." he politely thank her.

Denise smiled sweetly, then walked ahead of him to lead the way. Spencer just followed her quietly while Denise talked random things. Then Denise brought him toward a greenhouse.

"Spencer! Come on!" Liam gestured for a seat for him.

"Thank you, Uncle Liam," he said, then seated in the chair across from Deana.

Denise was seated next to him, which made her installed on his left side, and Liam was on his right side. The food that was served was tasty. The Lenzburg family owns a grand restaurant back in Basel City and a few places around the country. But the home cook at this house is enjoyable.

But one thing he notices is the family casually eating while conversing cheerfully. It doesn't need proper behavior like how he's trained to act appropriately and have table manners. And it would help if you didn't speak up, but the adults who should have the talks. Except, if only around his father, he doesn't mind these etiquettes.

Lunch is over. Spencer thanked Liam for a delicious meal, but he had to go home now. He promises to revisit Spring as the dog does not want to return home. So he just let Spring stay further with the Reynolds family.
