He could still feel a little fatigue but a lot better than this morning he woke up.
"Boss, don't forget to take the medicine before you went to bed," Jake reminded him.
"Okay, I will…" he replied lazily, resting his back on the couch.
"I am leaving now, boss."
"Yes. Go ahead, thank you," he said, then pick up the medicine Jake places in the coffee table. He swallowed it along with a glass of water. He massages his temple and then sits up.
Spencer took off his coat and threw it on the nearest chair, dropped his body into the bed. He felt so lazy today. Suddenly, he felt the emptiness rising inside his chest, all because he could remember the past one more time.
It was summer. Who would not love to stay outdoors, go on picnics and canoeing? But this year, more guests arrive at their vacation house. Actually, they were there already, comes ahead of them.
He hated it, but his mother said that they are important friends. That he must be nice to them no matter what. He senses that his family is after something with these so-called important friends, an investor to their business.
From the window of his bedroom in the attic, he's watching the kids playing below. Then a certain young girl caught his attention. She was cute, different but just suits her. But he has no interest to mingle, and so Spencer dropped his body onto the bed and continued reading the book he had brought along in this five days' vacation. After then, he has to attend the Camp.
Later in the evening, someone is knocking on the door and the Lenzburg butler enters the room. "Young Master Spencer, the Master of the House has summoned you for supper."
He looks up at the butler and replied. "I will come down."
The butler bowed then left. He sighed. He hates gathering, meeting families, and introductions. The whole thing is his grandfather's ideas, and as the elder grandson of his, the old man dragging him around to meet the other Aristocrat families and tycoons.
Summer is one season he looks forward to, having a break from school and tutors during regular days. Spencer put down the book and fixed his clothes before he went downstairs.
The dining hall has been a little loud with the adult's discussion. His grandfather flashes a dark stare at him the moment he saw him entering the room.
"Come on, Spencer. You should have greeted the Reynolds family upon our arrival."
"It's all right. There is no rush, this is not our first meeting."
"I am teaching him since he is my heir," Lord Lenzburg words.
"Ah. How old are you now, Spencer?" asked Liam Reynolds.
"I'm seventeen, Master Reynolds," he answered politely.
"Oh, older a year to my eldest daughter. Oh, pardon. I should have introduced my daughters. This is Denise my eldest daughter. She is fifteen but she'll celebrate sixteen soon. And my youngest, Deana, she's ten."
Spencer nodded at the two girls. Denise smiles sweetly but Deana smiles shyly. "Hi, nice meeting you." He said after his grandfather glares at him for saying nothing.
"Denise will attend your school soon, so I am hoping you can help her way around."
"I will do my best to accompany her, Master Reynolds."
"That's a relief to me. And that is way too formal, Uncle Liam will do."
Liam Reynolds is a widow. Said, his wife has just died two years ago, left with two daughters. They just move from Canada after Lady Reynolds— Liam's grandmother died a month ago. Liam Reynolds is now entitled as the Head of the Reynolds House.
After Liam introduces his daughters, Lord Lenzburg introduced his grandchildren: Spencer, Matteo and Simon, 15— his twin younger brothers, and then the siblings Mikaela and Jonas, his cousins.
The moment the supper is over, he quickly went back to the attic and escaped the dessert in the tearoom.
It's been two days since then. His father brought them and they trail the woods. They camp for the night and plans to go back before sundown the next day.
Deana— he noticed how she stays quite a lot of time. If there is she wanted to speak about, she just whispered to her father. Opposite to her sister, who is talking a lot with Mikaela and the twins. Bringing three dogs along with them on this camp, he noticed that they were fond of Deana, and he could see how her face brightens, gently touches the head of the dogs.
He approached her and introduced them. "Hi!"
She looks up and shyly returns the greetings. "Hello."
"Let me introduce you to them. Do you know what kind of breed they are?" He asked her, trying to open a conversation with her. "This is Winter, her breed is a Siberian Husky. This is Spring, he is a Greenland dog, and—"
"Summer?" she finishes his introduction.
He laughs. "Yes. A Labrador Husky."
She blushed, averting her gaze away from him, feels the shyness of a sudden. She nodded.
"Every year, each of them born around the season times. Since I don't know what name to give them, so the season maybe would do."
"Cool…" she giggles lightly.
"Hi, guys!" Liam greeted them. He placed down the firewood he picks up around in the woods. They were putting up their camp in the river banks. "Oh, nice! Our tent is all up! Great job, Spencer."
"They're not helping, Papa" Deana pointed the older girls and the twins.
"I see." Liam chuckles then realized, she is openly talking even there are other people around. "Sweetheart!" he squats on the ground and smiles happily to Deana. He saw little progress on his youngest behavior. He turned his head toward Spencer and fondly looked at him.
"I guess she's fond of them," Spencer gestures at his dogs.
"I see. Her doctor did advice to get her something she would love to become her pet. Okay! Who wants to help to make the fire?"
Deana raises her hand excitedly.
