Irvene's point of view
The room was spacious enough to study the experiments and move around comfortably. The unconscious miner was brought to a small seperated room. A few injured miners from earlier were being treated.
We followed where the miner was being brought but it wasn't on the small room but another one. It seemed that we went there because that small room was the only way to get on the other room. Erill Wanemoon spoke some words before we entered. They must have placed a magic barrier. The other room was big and no one was there except for beds and things related to alchemy and medicines.
The beds wasn't normal like in that other room because it was chanted with a few spells.
"Archmage Elvina, you two may sit here to discuss with Headmaster Estrama," Erill Wanemoon said.
I nodded and we sat on the chair and there was a study table in front where I assumed was Headmaster Estrama's table. He sat afterwards and began discussing about this incident.
"The miner was one of the miners that had worked at early morning in that dangerous mining area before you work since they'll not interrupt you. They were the skilled miners whose the only team to go on that mining area for the time being. This is the first time such thing happened," Erill Wanemoon explained.
He's holding papers in his hand and then gave it to the Headmaster after checking each page. I observed Headmaster Estrama's expression. He only maintained a blank face. I don't know if it's really the first time this had happened.
Nonetheless, I should go to that mining area immediately after this.
"Then no matter if it's a skilled miner or not, we should restrict the miners from working there because it could cause more casualties than benefits. We see it already, a single miner took all of us to fight against. If more of them would act like that, I don't know what would happen here," I explained.
Headmaster Estrama was really persistent to mine minerals in that area but I explained it in a different way for him to stop the work in that place.
He seemed to be convinced though. The Spirit Mining Company was at risk here so he couldn't make such quick decisions especially if it could destroy our country's most mined diamonds.
In the end, Headmaster Estrama agreed to my advice. I sighed in relief after that. Meryll's glare towards Headmaster Estrama still didn't falter though, such a hot-headed woman but she did her best to prevent picking up a fight on the Headmaster. Both of them would have been seriously injured if that happened.
Afterward, we checked on the miner's condition and the black aura surrounding him were decreasing little by little. The Headmaster said that the miner would stay here for two days at most. A few people experienced on Alchemy came and checked his conditions.
The miner released such strong powers so it was to be expected. I'm certain that he would be safe as he's a skilled miner of Headmaster Estrama.
Since there's no more work to do here, Meryll and I started to do our original work. We already knew the way, so we walked there by ourselves.
On the way here, we saw two persons walking by and they stopped in front of us.
"Archmage Elvina, the metal pole were already fixed and is working well. Headmaster Estrama said that you could check it if you want," he said.
Afterward, they bid goodbye and walked away.
"Let's check the metal pole," I said.
We walked towards it. The pole was releasing magic from time to time like the first time I saw it and there's nothing wrong with it. We walked inside after that and took a short time to reach the end.
The dark aura it's releasing became much denser although most people wouldn't feel it even it's a skilled miner as long as they didn't specialize on Alchemy. The difference wasn't so large, but a person skilled in Alchemy would notice the difference behind it. The continuous stay in this area might be the reason the miner behaved like that.
Even though, it's still not completely studied, some related cases of people acting different after going to a certain place were studied years ago. The dark aura seemed to be the same but it's much worse than the earlier cases.
Since I'm a mage and my father studied Alchemy, I specialized in it. Meryll could also sense the difference given our harsh traning to different fields years ago and as an assassin, she should have a unique sense of her surroundings.
This mining area held mysterious powers that the knowledge about it couldn't be easily announced to the masses.
"Meryll, could you lend me a hand?" I asked.
"Of course, I've been waiting for what I have to do!" Meryll answered.
Right, we're just been observing this place and nothing else.
"Then, use your two blades and try to break this stone that's releasing the black aura," I said.
Then she's stunned for a second and looked at me.
"Are you sure? I'm afraid that there's only two possibilities, either nothing would happen or this mining area would be destroyed if I do that," Meryll said.
I knew that but we should try it for the time being. We could get outside if something bad might happen with Ivy and Elis or if worst, I could use the portal.
"Don't hesitate, it's dangerous as it is. If we don't do anything then the Headmaster may continue to let the miners work in this area and the incident earlier will not be the last," I said.
"Okay then, I won't let that happen!" Meryll said.
After saying that, she did her strongest attack. Her two blades grew slightly and glowed in dark red and she strongly hit it on the wall that's releasing that dark aura. It could be said that her attacks were as strong as a skilled warrior.
Assassin class have lower physical attack than most warrior class because assassin specializes in speed and also magic, although they prefer blades than staffs or wands.
After her attack, a burst of wave came forth. It's due to her strong attack. I balanced myself well to avoid falling and prevent using too much magic since I used a lot of it yesterday and I need to regain it for the time being thus, I asked Meryll to do this task.
The effects of Meryll's attack were gone now, but nothing came off afterwards.
"Nothing happened?" Meryll asked.
Or so we thought...
After a while, we felt this small place moving and we saw the wall that's releasing the dark aura formed a huge crack. It emitted a huge amount of dark aura and another burst of wave made of the dark aura appeared.
This time any people would notice the difference of the amount of dark aura released. I hurriedly put a small barrier circling with Meryll and I to prevent us breathing that air. I'm worried that one of us could get affected.
What to do? I have to stop this as soon as possible!
