Chapter 48 - Chapter 48

Irvene's point of view

Those men were only holding torches and some using magic but it's still not enough for them to see us moving swiftly to where they're standing. They all showed their startled faces and immediately guard themselves but their strength proved not enough when they couldn't follow our movements.

I took the tied man first and placed him in a far enough distance although I didn't untie him. Afterward, I ran swiftly and wielded my staff, chanted with a strengthen magic to hit them. This was all I could do to prevent them from knowing about us. Furthermore, I wouldn't use a weapon with blades, afraid that I would accidentally kill them.

That wasn't our intention after all.

One by one, I hit their limbs with all my strength and avoid their attacks at the same time. This fight proved hard when I was not using magic while one of my opponents was a mage. I continued to persist since I won't lose to them for that reason.

Meryll was dealing with a lot of them while I handled only a few since fight like this was Meryll's forte.

When they were all not moving, I hurriedly chanted a magic barrier so they wouldn't try to escape. We would not let them go until they told us their intentions.

I once again chanted another magic barrier to Meryll's enemies after she took them down. We walked near them but this battle didn't finish as we thought.

Before we had the chance to investigate them, four men appeared again. Their existence was releasing strong aura that made us realize that they weren't like these enemies we managed to stop easily.

Since it's the case, I would be forced to use my true skills.

They were wearing armors and it looked like that it would be hard to penetrate that hard armor by only using my staff with a strengthen magic. Their armors didn't look familiar either so I guess that it was a customized armor and didn't belong to Soul'e Military's soldier or other related groups.

The four of them didn't wait and attacked the two of us with their glowing sharp swords and killing intent.

Meryll hurriedly fought them while I called for someone.

"Winter!" I shouted.

The right one to be their enemy was Winter not me since I couldn't waste a lot of magic and reveal my identity.

Winter didn't fail me for she quickly appeared in front of me. I touched her shoulder once she appeared and I transferred a lot of magic into her body. I could sense that she's getting stronger swiftly once I started releasing magic into her.

"Too much magic," Winter uttered.

"I gave a few of my powers and now I command you to break their armors," I slowly said.

Her silver hair gleamed and so her eyes, her red blood eyes. I suddenly felt it was very familiar but I couldn't explain it.

Maybe, it was because she's borrowing my powers but I didn't immediately notice that I was giving almost half of my magic yet I didn't feel exhausted. I stopped and the moment I released my hand, she turned her face to the enemies who were fighting Meryll alone.

Meryll was fighting all of them when she saw me doing something.

Meanwhile, I saw Winter's hands that there's some weapon slowly forming. It formed a long ice sword and it's releasing the powers I'm very familiar too. The powers that refused to stay relaxed within my body without restricting it with a magic ring.

Winter took care of the two enemies and it helped Meryll a lot. Both of them slashed their enemies' armor with all their might and didn't stop until they saw it breaking into their own two eyes.

Although, the situation didn't look good since I sensed someone at my back. There's still another one and much stronger than the rest of them.

What was really their negotiations here that strong people started appearing?

Instead of worrying, I felt really good. I didn't know why but maybe it was just I didn't felt exhausted after releasing a lot of magic into Winter earlier. Now, I wanted to release a lot of my magic after sensing the ominous aura at my back.

I didn't care anymore. These strong people should just die. They weren't people anymore since I could only sense demonic aura lingering into them. This could only mean one thing.

They were already a person turned into a puppet experimented by a powerful necromancer. By analyzing their movements, their attacks seemed patterned and all the same, even the one whom about to ambush me.

"Meryll, Winter, our plan changed. Kill those four with armors!" I called.

They nodded and we immediately went back on fighting them.

I defended myself and created thin ice spikes that were enough to cut its flesh. The one I'm fighting wasn't wearing armor, thus I could clearly see it's blackened eyes with no emotion at all.

Although it wasn't wearing any armor, his speed was so great and he managed to stab me on my shoulder many times. Blood started to drip on both my shoulders and I hurriedly chanted a spell.

"Hidden healing prowess, level 2!" I shouted.

It repeated twice until I managed to beat him. I created ice blades much faster and attack him into his back into the fastest I could get it to travel.

I felt my heartbeat so fast. It's been a while since I experienced fighting a skilled man although only a man-turned puppet. Since his patterns of attacks didn't change much at all and even though it could be clearly seen that I managed to see through his actions, it didn't budge and fearlessly attacked me.

"The chains of iron, the giver of desperation, I hereby bound the opposer in front with the silver chains of despair!"

Finally, I was able to use a binding spell into my enemy. The more he resisted, the worse the chains would bind him. With his speed being taken away, I created a huge ice sword, no, I summoned an ice sword.

Its sharpness pierced through his heart and the demonic aura surrounding him disappeared until I heard him speak which was not supposed to since he's turned into a puppet.

"Thank you for giving me my freedom," he said.

After that, his eyes returned to a normal one, closed and no sign of life could be sensed towards him.

"My Ice Sword has been finally used again," I uttered.

That sword of mine that I didn't use unless I felt the need to do so. Not long after, I saw a black diamond coming out of that man's heart.

"It can't be," I uttered.

I gripped the black diamond harder until it turned into a speck of dust.

I suddenly wanted to kill again. This time, it's not a puppet.

"Irvene!" Someone shouted.

Then I saw Meryll took my hands that gripped the black diamond hardly.

"Stop releasing too much magic!" Meryll shouted.

"Irvene... Master..," Winter uttered.

I didn't know what they're talking about until I saw my hands freezing cold. I stopped it afterward and took a deep breath.

"Let's go back," I said.

I released the barrier to them afterward.

"Weren't we going to interrogate those persons?" Meryll asked.

"No need, I already know the reason," I said.

Meryll only followed me and said that she saw black diamonds falling out of those puppets.

I didn't say anything for now. We came back to our temporary room and that was when I felt the tiredness in my body but I didn't feel the tiredness I experienced in the past. It was like I didn't have the illness within my body at all that time I fought.

Could it be that I can still be healed from this illness?

I wasn't able to think deeply since my eyes closed on its own and I fell asleep.
