Gold made it to the reception area.
A guy wearing a fine suit came to meet her. "Hi, you must be Gold."
"Hi, and you are?" Gold asked.
"I'm Kip, I'm a keeper." The guy laughed.
She stares at him.
"I'm just kidding, I'm Vara's Cousin. Where's Cale?"
Gold finally gave him a smile. "Oh, Nice to meet you.. Why..."
Cale comes rushing to her and cuts her mid-sentence.
"Hey. Kip." He put his arms around Gold and smiled back at Kip.
"There you are...I was surprised to see Gold alone. How could you let her drive here without you? You better take care of your girl if you don't ever want to lose her." Kip said.
"We're...." Gold's about to protest.
"We're going to get some food and drinks. Wanna join us?" Cale asked changing the subject.
"Oh, don't worry about me help yourself. I'm going to have a quick chat with Lark for a while. I guess I'll see you guys later and.. nice meeting you Gold." Kip left and headed to Lark.
Gold glances at Cale. (He literally shuts me off when I'm about to say something. What's with this guy?!)
Cale held her hand and took her to the buffet area. He grabbed a plate and utensils for both of them and assisted Gold with everything then led her to the nearest table. (Why is he acting like this? Seriously! He's acting like we're still together?!) Gold acts as if she doesn't notice it at all but honestly, she's ranging inside.
"I got us a bottle of red wine." He poured her a drink and sat next to her.
(Should I say how much I hate him? What is he trying to do? Really?!)
"Let's eat." Cale stares at her and notices her hair. He gently stroked Gold's hair. She stares at him expressionlessly.
"I'm so hungry. Let's eat." Gold said. Trying her best to act cool.
"Heeyy... I think you guys are getting married next." one of their college schoolmates said.
Gold let out a smile but she thought. (What the H!) she glanced at Cale and saw him smiling back as well.
(How about you tell them we're not together anymore!!!) She's definitely screaming inside her head.
After everything else...
Cale grabs Gold's hand. "Let's go to the lakeside," he said.
"There is a lake out there?" Gold got excited and forgot her frustrations. "Yes. Just behind the venue. There are tables and chairs there. Let's take the wine."
Gold stares at the lake. It's already dark but the stars are shining so bright.
Everyone's having fun singing and dancing behind them.
She stood near the rail bar admiring the view. Cale followed her and stood there watching her. "I missed you." he suddenly said.
Gold's expression changed. She slowly faced Cale.
In a flash, fireworks were released. The scene turns into deafening silence. Cale lost control of his emotions. He leaned closer and kissed her. Everything's suddenly in slow motion. Gold eyes widened in surprise and she was unable to move.
Cale held her cheek and gently stroked it. (What's going on?) Gold thought. It all happened so fast. The world seems to be spinning around with a flashback of their first kiss.
Gold came to her senses and gently pushed Cale away. She stood there watching him in silence and then turned to run away from him but Cale grabbed her arm in an instant. "Don't go Gold. Stay with..."
"Have you considered that before leaving me?" she whispered but Cale heard it clearly. He let go of her.
"I'm.." Gold faced him before he could finish. She grabbed her wine and raised it for a toast. "What are you waiting for?" She handed him his glass.
"It's nice having you like this again Cale." He was surprised to hear her say that but that's enough to make him smile.
"Can I take you somewhere else later?" Cale asked.
"Sure. I guess. Why not?" her heart warmed.
She suddenly remembers to check her phone.
Glaire's text message.
(That sounds odd. They're busy the whole day? And they're not flooding me with messages. Hmm. Oh well.)
Kilk notices her facial expression.
"Is there a problem?"
"Oh no. Nothing at all." Gold said while putting her mobile phone back inside her purse.
"Let's say goodbye to the newlyweds?" Cale wanted to take her to fireflies watching near the area.
"Hey, we're leaving. Congratulations guys." Cale said to Lark and Vara. Kip waves at them.
"Did you tell Gold already?" Vara asked.
"Tell me what?"
"That... We're seeing the fireflies tonight." Cale quickly turned her to leave and whispered. "Not now."
Gold knew something was up but she didn't ask. She wants him to tell her whatever it is willingly.
"We're taking my car. Let's leave your car to my Airbnb."
