Peyton and Aaron had slept through the night. It was the first time in a long time... It was just the four of them. Well now it was five, now that Daniel gave them Kenai... Kenai was similar to Atka. Both were german shepard breads. They were both of a bread desighned for show dogs. But they both had large paws, almost wolf like. These traits were from cross breading between a working german shepard and the breads classified as german shepard show dogs. Like the show dogs they were both pretty lean and slightly shorter than usual. But like the working german sheperds they had large paws, good endurance, and a muscular build... This came in handy for Atka. Her small structure was similar to a golden retriever, but more muscular. This way she could keep quiet when moving unlike big dogs. With her big paws she was able to keep balance and help Peyton with daily tasks. And with her muscular build she was able to keep up with peyton on jogs on their tredmill. And was able to pull her away from anything when she was walking. Her build made her a great service animal and a great pet. Kenai wasblike this as well but had more of a young puppy attitude, as Atka acted like a grown adult, quiet and poise... Atka got up an hour before Peyton and Aaron everyday. Today was a bit different, now they had Kenai... Atka rose up off the bed at around 8:15 am. She walked over to the blinds. They liked them open at night to look at the stars, and let a little light in for visibilty if Aaron had to get up, for Peyton it didn't matter, not until November... Atka went over and dug her nose around on the window frame till she found the string. She bit down on the small grip, and ever so gently she pulled the black blinds down... When they came down the room returned to pitch black... Kenai had been watching her curiously, and almost confused... He followed her to see what she was doing... Atka then strolled her best through the dark to the door. She then managed to feel her way to the door knob... They had placed on a rubber grip so that Atka could easily open up the door for Peyton. Aaron has still forgotten to remove it... Even though they don't make her do any of this Atka still does it as a routine, and now she will teach Kenai... She bit down on the rubber grip and opened the door letting them both out to the upstairs hallway... Then she turned to shut the door for them... That was when she took Kenai down stairs, they went to go use the bathroom outside in the fenced in area. It was small, only about 6 by 8 feet wide but they had their own grass patch. After they were done they slid back in through the dog door and Atka hit on the senser to relock it, this way nothing would get in... Kenai was still confused. Things weren't like this for him back at the base... They were sleeping until 4 am. Then eating. Training. Break. Training. Eating. Training. Break. Training. Then back to sleep. A 14 hour schedual that was followed strictly. Only the fact that he was used to training with Daniel, then he left and went back home and into the war... This time Kenai couldn't continue any training. He didn't listen to anyone other than Daniel. So now it was time to follow Atka's lead... Atka lead him over to two food bowls. Her red plastic one and his metal. Because Peyton could never use the automatic feeder she went through the steps with Aaron on how to program it at certain times. She was always a tech savy person. She just couldn't she what she was doing for the time being. So Aaron followed her steps, and it worked... Sure enough, 1 1/2 cups of food spilt into Atka's Bowl at 8:30... They still hadn't programed it for Kenai so Atka went into the cabinet and pulledout the big bad... She had no sense in mesurement so she poured it on the floor until she thought it was enough. The she reached up to the counter and hit the big button on the coffee machine to start brewing...The good thing was they ate it all before Peyton and Aaron came down for coffee at 9:20... Today they slept in. Usually they stayed in until 9... "Well good morning you two." Aaron smiled at them both... "Hey Peyton I forgot we have to program it for Kenai too. So just the same steps?" Peyton smiled and said, "Yeah, Do you need my advisory or can you figure it out?" Aaron laughed and nodded, "I'll be fine... I got this... How hard can it be?" Peyton smiled as if expecting him to fail... "Okay well while you do that I have a phone call to take care of with the doctor. Just a check on the predure." Aaron replied, " Okay." And they went on their separate ways...
One hour later: "Hey honey... I made toast, and I didn't burn it... Almond butter because your allergic to peanuts. And strawberry jam because you hate grape." Peyton kossed him and smiled, "Aww... So sweet... What did you do?" Aaron laughed awkwardly... "What. Can't a husband do something nice for his wife?" Peyton smiled and put her hand on her hip. "Not this one... You only make me this when you did something really bad... You know I have a special spot for almond butter. So what did you do?" Aaron took a deep breath, "I may have been programming the feeder, and I may jave kind of broken it?" Peyton was confused. "Okay, so you can program a military defense system, set off traps and bombs all around bases, and are the tech advisor for the military and the General... And yet you can't program a dog feeder?" Aaron replied, "Well I tried but it wasn't working, so I searched a Korean translator, your the only one who speaks Korean. I can only understand Vietnese, Japanese, English, and Chinese. I'm sorry but I couldn't get it." Peyton looked confused again, "Well how did it break?" Aaron started sweating. "Well the transelator read place the screw in the egg and turn. So I put the screw near the empty socket... And it didn't work... So I started to poke around... And my hand slipped, and I may have dropped it on the ground, where it may have fallen on the hammer." Peyton was so flustered at what he just said. "One, Why did you have a hammer? Two, did it completely break? Three. It takes a certain kind of man to need a hammer for programing a dog feeder. And four, What screw!?!" Aaron calmed her down before speaking again. "Well I had them because to get to the buttons you need to take off the panel. And yes it is definetly broken... It was smoking so I moved it to the nieghbor's dumpster..." Peyton had a death stare on her that made it seem as though she could see into your soul, a death stare only a child with strict parents would know... Except for the fact she still couldn't see at all. " Well fine. I lied about it being $150.00 It was only $25.00 I just wanted to make sure you didn't break it... And two. Please tell me it was the Micks Dumpster?" Aaron smiled and had a breath for his relief. " Yeah it was the Micks." Peyton smiled. "I feel bad for those poor students he teaches. As if math wasn't bad enough... I hope he retires before we send this little one into 7'th grade." Peyton rubbed her stomach, and Aaron held her from the back. "Don't worry. He looks like he will die soon." They both laughed before Aaron continued. "And if he still hasn't I will send our son or daughter out of Sanfransisco. The we can get away from that bastard." Peyton laughed. "Not infront of the baby Aaron." Aaron tickled her for a bit, "I dont think he/she can hear me." He knelt down to her stomach and held his head to it. "Hello in there. This is your father copy... Your mother is very fisty, and if I don't make it out alive then-" Aaron starts making fuzzing noises as if a line went dead... Peyton started laughing. And soon they were both laughing... Things were almost completely back to normal since Daniels death. Just a few minutes after Aaron got a call from Maya... "I'll get it... Hello?" After a few seconds Aaron dropped the phone as his eyes started to well... Peyton heard something drop... "Aaron? Is everything alright? Is Maya ha ing the baby... I thought it wasn't due for almost a month?" Aaron grabbed her hand, "No, we have to get to the hospital now!" Peyton was still worried with no idea of what was going on... "Aaron? What happened?"
If you don't know what an after shock is, it is the small earthquakes leading after the main one. Some can have 1 to 15, others have even 300. Living in Sanfransisco Peyton and Aaron know well what they are. Daniel's death was the main or starting earthquake. The strongest one to start with. The next chapeters of their lives were about to be hit with many more after shocks. Some may even be more shocking than the main quaking...
