Peyton went in and out of sleep that night. She continued to nod on and off all throughout the next day as well. The baby was coming, and soon. She couldn't wait to hear, to touch, and maybe one day to see her beatiful child...
It had been 3 hours since they got to the hospital and as of now Peyton was sound asleep. She was stable. Aaron couldn't help but sigh a breath of relief. Maybe she would be okay. Everything wouod go as planned, and she would be able to see her baby in a month or two... The nurse saw what everyone was worrying about. Peyton, the baby, and her eyes. She had her team working to see if they could bump anything up, maybe get her in earlier. But they only brought up bad news... "Sir?" Aaron turned his head from Peyton, and stepped back out of the room away from everyone. "What is it?" The nurse lowered her lashes, as the hope in her eyes dimmed. "I'm afraid that when you brother was dicussing with the doctor before you were deployed, he made a mistake." Aaron didn't want to hear what she was implying... He couldn't handel another loss. "I'm afraid the treatment she was schedualed for was the wrong one... Its a surgery for her iris and pupil's. Sadly he placed her in for the eye vessle sealing, and vien work... I'm sorry sir... But the waiting list for the right treatment is longer than expected... We may not be able to get her in until Christmas... Of next year." Aaron's head jolted away. "What!?!? I can't wait over a year. Our child will have already said their first words, their first steps, how can my wife miss that! If anything this wasn't my brothers fault. We have called three times since the information was confirmed and they said nothing about this!" The nurse tried to calm him down. Just as he was about to break down in tears, Peyton's condition took another bad turn...
Jin came running into the room. "Nurse! Nurse! We need someone in here now!" After 2 seconds about 8 doctors and nurses rushed into the room. They had pushed everyone away to abseating area near the door. They needed space. Peyton had thrown up in her sleep. She was chocking and the acud was slowly burning her throat. She thrashed and coughed, this only made her pain worse... Nobody knew quite what to do...
Aaron sat quietly in the corner of the sitting area. He didn't say a word. He just listened. He kept thinking, "Keep breathing. Breathe. Breathe... Hold on... Please... Both of you..." Jin tried to talk to him but Maya knew to keep him away... Keep everyone away. Even Atticus... One of the nurses came out to check on everyone. She told them that Peyton would be fine, and that they would get thid mess of schedualing figured out... Everyone decided to file back into the room... Every one but Aaron... The nurse turned after they were all in to check with him. She wasn't the young nurse from before, she had the sound wise grandmother. She looked between 45 and 55. She sat quietly by Aaron and started to speak. "Are you the father?" Aaron nodded quietly. "I guess things aren't great between you two? Custody of the child issues? Never thought you would have a child so young?" Aaron shook his head no, trying to hold back the tears. "No? So then what is so important that you aren't sitting by that beautiful woman's side." Aaron studered as his words came out. "I-I... I just. I can't see her like this... I can't see her in pain... I just want it to go away, to take it for her... What did she ever do to deserve this?" Aaron started to bawl as the nurse patted his shoulder. "Are you sure thats all?" Aaron added to her. "I just lost my father a few years back. And then I had my shoulder ruptured by a bullet. Then my brother passed away, in front of me. My sister has tried to kill herself three times. And my wife has lost her sight, and she may not be able to see our child... If he or she is even alright!" Aaron cried even harder in his hands. "Well you know what. We don't always get to pick who suffers and who doesn't. But we can choose how to deal with it. Life isn't easy, I guarentee nobody's in this hospital is... Thats why we need to cherish every damn second of this life. Enjoy every thing we have, and esspecialy the pain we went through to get it... There's an old saying, from an old empress of the Ming Dynasty... She said. Life comes with pain, we may bring it upon ourselves or upon others, but those who never expierience pain never know how truely good it feels to sucseed. If we don't fall down, we never know the thrill of getting back up... You see honey life isn't gonna be perfect, there will be scars, broken glass, death, loss, disability, pain, and so much worse. But there will also be love, kindness, family, children, and so much more. The Yin and Yang, light and dark, day and night. Though they both stand for something, they both have a speck left of each other. After the Yang of her pain, your wife will have the enjoyment and Yin of a child. And with the Yin of a child, comes the Yang of teenage years, and worrying about them. Nothing is truely Yin nor Yang. But thats why you got to try your damn best to make life worth every single second. Enjoy the Yin, and learn from the Yang. Because nobody ever got anywhere before starting from nothing."
Just as Aaron was going to say something the nurses called from the other room. As everyone was starting to file out of the room. "I need everyone out except the father! Good news!"
"The baby. is on its way!"
Aaron thanked the nurse and ran to Peyton. She still looked stunning even if she was drenched in sweat, and had no makeup. And he blonde hair was scattered into a messy bun. Nothing could make her look short of perfect in Aaron's eyes...
