Its been two months since Mandy started to attend Monster Academy. Many doubted her ability as she entered, but she continued to ignore all of it and keep moving on. Finally the time has come that she can prove herself that she deserved to be in their level of class.
"Good morning all students, you may know already that today is the exam day. This is the day that you will have the chance to move forward in your ranks. With the changes of the ranks also changes the privileges that you will received. So be ready and do your best." the end speech, as the opening ceremony come to its end.
As Mandy looked around, most of the student was delighted about the exam. Who would not be happy if their rank might goes up? All they're after was the great privileges they might get once their rank increases. It was the opposite for Mandy since she felt nervous what might happen. Though for the few days she was surprised she could finally use again her ability but it was new to her since it was a different ability. She was still not used to it. Add to that she still have no idea what kind of exam they will be taking.
Even though in the passed few days she do go to her usual classes, attended her nightly training session and reviewed some of her subjects that she missed in every weekends, she was not confident that it was enough to pass the exam. At the moment she entered the hall where all the students gathered with the upper classmen and lower classmen. She was still clueless what's going to happen. It was too crowded for her to moved around so she stay still.
"All students, please proceed to the card description that have been given to you earlier." Mandy started to walk towards the opening of the front huge passage way. Other students also gathered there and entered it one by one, so did Mandy. It was a long passage that it took them half an hour to reach its end. The light blinded them, as it slowly fades, the place became clearer.
"Where are we?" some of them said.
"What a very tall buildings." while checking the surroundings
"What are we supposed to do right now." one concerned student asked. A faculty teacher walked infront of them, checking each of them.
"Welcome to the Human Realm, we took you here for today's exam to measure your capabilities." she started, murmurs started to circulate.
"How is this possible?"
"Are we not supposed to be entering their world?"
"Should we be careful?"
"They might be hidding and trapped us?"
"No! I don't want to be their next victim?"
It's the first time Mandy heard them being scared from a human beings.
"As you all know we are not allowed to enter their world, but that case you don't have to worry since its just an imitation of their world." Some student exhaled feeling relieved.
"If that's the case Ma'am, what are we suppose to be doing here?" one student asked.
"It's a simulation how to deal with them. It is a preparation for you, we don't know the future that you might encounter them. Human Dummies has been placed all over the place, your task is to collect all the needed item for you to unlock your way out of this place." she raise her hand and showed the card that was given to them earlier.
"One important task also, do not lose this card. Once you lost it and when it shows it was to far from the specific distance from you, automatically you failed the first exam."she ended, she walked towards the passage which they took earlier. A sound and vibration took their attention in their wrist. A message from the watch pop out.
"Your exam starts now." she shouted, the student started to move as they received their first clue.
Mandy tried to understand the context of the clue. She immediately recognized it. The place slowly turns dark, as a sign of incoming rain. Mandy must find a shelter without any trouble. She run as fast as she could in a nearby building and find some room to hide first. Other students did as what she also did, some got trouble when they'd encountered some human dummies and was trapped.
For Mandy she carefully hide in every corner. She throw some rocks to make a noise, to check if there's no human nearby. If there is, she make sure they leave before she moved. Until she finally made her way inside a building. She saw some student also ahead of her. As she observed them, they form a team since they are signaling at each other. Until one saw her, the girl creature who saw her nudge the creature beside her and pointing at Mandy's direction. The look of its face was shocked to see Mandy.
"Why is she here?"
"Did she follow us?"
"Just ignore her" they nod at each other, taking their eyes away from her.
They continued and ignore her presense, as they went back to leave the room. Mandy immediately understood what they mean by that, they don't want her to their group. She just trust her instinct and take the other way from them. She motivated herself that she can finish the exam without their help. She breathout as she slowly creep out the open door.
As she move forward she noticed the noice of conversation in a room. There she saw humans gathering in a living room, she immediately hide.
'That was very close, I thought they're just another group who went in. I must leave this place right at this moment.' she tell to herself in her mind. She stepped back but before she could step away.
"Mom! Dad! A burglar!" the child shouted behind her. She tried to shush the child but it keeps pointing at her. She have no way to silence the child so she run to another place. Her footsteps could be heard. Other human beings in the hallway she passed, was alarmed by her footsteps.
"Who is that?"
"Hey you can't run inside here."
She saw an elevator ahead of her, she press a botton, luckily it opened. She breathout and composed herself. When she finally composed herself, she saw her reflection. She touched her face.
'I still looked the same' she thought. Its been a long time since she last saw her reflection. In her dorm room, she rarely have the chance to look closely in her whole face. As she keep on living with the monster's she thought she also looked like them. After she saw her reflection, she realized she was also a human so she must not be afraid to face them. Even though there are different kind of nature a human can be, she must still not be afraid to them since not all of them are bad.
As the elevators door opened, she plastered a smile and walked out with confidence in her. She can't wait when the time she could freely come back to the human realm.
