Of all the students in the academy she have to face at the exam, it was the three of them? It's been a while since she last saw them. The first one she caught a glance was rolling her eyes from her, typical of Leah. Ever since she was defeated by her, it took all her pride to walk inside the campus. She still can't accept that a mere new student could defeat her. That makes her infuriated that she use it as a motivation to do her best for the exam as it arrived, she must regain her reputation. But then she meet her again.
'This newbie again, how did she manage to pass the exam?' Leah grumbled through her mind.
Mandy did not wait for Leah to speak that she was not happy to see her. She averts her gaze to the other two students, which was also hesitant and afraid to look at her. She remembered them; they were the first students who approached her when she first entered the academy. She was still a little awkward at that time that at first she convince herself that she must get close to any creature. But, they still insist to approach her and tried to be her friend. She knows they did their best to be good to her, but she must have hurt their feelings that they're the one who initiate to keep their distance from her.
"Congratulation for the four of you." a familiar voice, which caught their attention. As the creature get close to them, they confirmed who it was.
"Madam Siera!" they lowered their heads as a way to give respect to her. She just smiled pleasantly to them while walking to each of them and gave them each a golden pendant, which they gladly accept.
"Leah…, Mandy…, Kate… and Cory… You all passed the second exam and getting the highest score for it. The four of you was gathered here to make an announcement about the upcoming Academy's Student Council Selection." Mandy have no idea what was the selection for, since she thought no one was managing the academy except for the Rulers. It's clear in her expression that she was confused.
"Leah, you must know already about it since you were part of student council. But I still must say it for them." Leah just smirked on the introduction of Madam Siera for her. She was overconfident that she was still part of the council; it will be easy for her to be part again.
"Every year there is a selection for the student council, which is to maintain order with the Rulers. Few students know about this, since the selection was not base on voting, but rather to an evaluation for each candidate." Madam Siera continued. Mandy started to build up her conclusion what she was going to say to them.
"You must already know that Rulers have the highest standing in the academy, not only by their capabilities and talents but also by their family standing. As a part of a prestige family, their time was limited. So they assigned students to be their aides while they were out from the campus, which are the council members. They were responsible for making the laws and activities for the school which they will propose to the Rulers to be approved. That's what can I initially tell about what the selection was for. Well, few weeks from now the selection will be held. The four of you was chosen to take part for the selection." As she tells the end part, Mandy confirmed her conclusion. But, as she heard the part where they will become an aide for the Rulers, she was taken aback. She was still new to the environment and she will become their aide? How could she manage to be an aide to them? It was too early for Mandy to assume that she might become part of the council, but it was against her idea that she will become their aide.
"Pardon for intruding Madam Siera, I just started to be comfortable to the environment of the school so I may not be of any help if I'd join the selection. Can I not join the selection?" Mandy tried to ask.
"You don't have to worry, being a council member was intended for all qualified student. If that still worries you, you can decline the selection." Madam Siera firmly answered.
"What a very overdramatic, who dare she refused the selection? She is out of her mind how great privilege it is to be part of." Leah whispered to herself, which Mandy clearly heard since she was beside her.
"Well, Leah was already part of the selection. The two of you seems quiet… Do you agree to take part in it?" Madam Siera questioned Kate and Cory. The two of them nod as an answer to her.
"Well as for you Mandy, I know it's a rash decision you've made. I'll give you a day to decide. After tomorrow's written exam, give me your final decision about it. You are now dismissed." Madam Siera stated.
She ended it, they safely exited the building with Madam Siera leading them out. It was nearly evening when they went out. Madam Siera leaves the four of them.
"What a pain to be with these creatures." Leah stated as she set free her wings and flown away leaving a strong gust of wind behind. They covered themselves from it.
"What a really arrogant creature." Mandy could not help but to comment.
"Mandy, it's been a while how are you?" Kate can't take it any longer to speak to her. Mandy was a little surprise that they finally open out to speak to her.
"I-indeed, it's been a while. Well, I am fine now. What about you guys? I've noticed some changes in the two of you… I mean in your appearance… It looks like you've have been evolved… I think… What am I even saying?" Mandy scratching the back of her head, she was out of words on what she was going to say to them. The awkwardness was still on her. Cory can't help but smile.
"It looks like you are really fine Mandy. I've never seen you that flustered before." Cory commented. Mandy also smiled at her action, she never thought she was also flustered to speak to them.
"Well I am glad we have the chance to see each other again. I never really have the chance to apologize to you guys from the way I acted previously. I hope you would still consider it." Mandy started to calm down and stated what she really wants to say to them.
"It's really not your fault Mandy. I was also at fault, for being too sensitive even though you must have gone through a horrible experience while you were in human realm. I should have considered it before distancing ourselves from you." Kath spoke what truly she felt and thought about it.
"I hope you can forgive us Mandy." It was clear on Cory's sincerity in it.
"Let's just put it in the past. I was actually very glad that you were my first friends when I entered the academy. If it weren't for you guys I am still unaware how I can start my days in here. So thank you for it." A weight has been lifted from Mandy. She never thought she could open up to them how she really felt.
"Can we hug now?" Kath suddenly stated while tearing up. They did as what she said.
