Synopsis
"What do you want to know?" He asked then he continued walking. "Why do you have an army?" Brylee was the first one to ask. "One, to protect the mountain. Two, to find the descendants. Three, to protect them." He gave them a direct answer. "If the descendants have gifts, why the need to protect them?" This time it was Briony who asked. "Even though they have gifts, not everyone could protect themselves like you. Not all have physical strengths and speed. You'll find out what I mean when you started to meet them. For now, you cannot meet everyone since they are in the city." He replied with his thick accent. "You said you protect them, from who?" Brina asked in a way that one could tell that the gears in her head are working. "Humans," He casually said as he continued to walk on a never-ending land of snow. The sun is shining but it did nothing to warm them. "Humans?" Bianca looks astounded. "Supernatural may seemed to be powerful and greedy at the beginning but as years gone by and humans had taken over the world they become more powerful and greedy. They wouldn't be on top of the food chain if they were not." He speaks as if he has a deep hatred towards humans. "Aren't you human?" Brylee asked making Gavril laugh. "You do not understand it, do you?" He said with a mocking tone. **** Lorcan Villan trained his five nieces to become bounty hunters just like him without the knowledge of their overprotective, distrustful father, his brother. They were strong, smart, assertive, ruthless, bloodthirsty, and curious. Those were the traits of his nieces and he believed that they just wanted to become bounty hunters to quench their thirst for adventure. But little did he know that his nieces possess special gifts that they wanted to put into use by bounty hunting. And as they hunt for fugitives, they unexpectedly encountered people that could tell them where and to whom they got their gifts. They will soon realize that there is a better way to utilize their gifts and that is to protect themselves from those who are hunting them.

Chapter 1 - The Twins

"He was considered the most successful bounty hunter in history who captured over 3,500 criminals and fugitives. And not only that, but he also founded the first and only bounty hunting school at that time. Unfortunately, the school doesn't exist anymore because if it did, I'd probably be one of the country's bounty hunters and not a professor standing in front of a bunch of sleepyheads!"

"Aaaand the professor is gone and drifted to his dreamland." A hazel-eyed long-haired brunette girl commented in a low voice making the blonde girl beside her chuckle.

Just like everyone in the classroom, when the professor entered the classroom, her back straightened in anticipation of what the professor's lecture was about. But just like his other lecture, as time went by, he would always drift away from the main topic.

And today, while talking about how deep wounds in the throat, stomach, and abdominal areas are potentially fatal, a recent event was brought up. It was the arrest of one of the most wanted fugitives in the country. The man was wanted for murdering his wife a day after their wedding eight years ago. And apparently, the wife was cleverly stabbed in the throat and abdominal area multiple times warranting her speedy death.

Though it was not reported, the professor was certain that it was a bounty hunter who apprehended the fugitive. And he can't help but express his fascination and childhood dream of becoming a bounty hunter. And now the topic has gone off about his favorite bounty hunter.

"Are you saying something, Miss Briony Villan? You know I always encourage open discussion in my class." The professor crossed his arms in front of his chest and raised a brow while looking at his student who seemed to have a better topic to discuss on their own.

Hearing her name, Briony straightened her back on her seat and smiled mischievously. "Oh, we were just talking about how wonderful it would be if you were a bounty hunter. Because although I haven't seen a real one, you look like one of them."

The professor narrowed his eyes on Briony. Bootlicking is one of her many talents, and she is good at it because the creases on the professor's forehead immediately soften. Though he didn't show it in front of the class, he was flattered by Briony's indirect compliment.

When the professor directed his gaze toward the rest of the class and carried on with his lecture, Briony turned her head to her right and met her twin sister's eyes that were behind her oversized eyeglasses.

Briony knows that look from her twin sister. Those eyes were silently chastising her. Briony smiled and winked at her.

"You know, that mouth of yours will put you in some serious danger," Brina said as soon as she was joined by her twin sister, Briony. When the bell rang indicating the end of the class, she was one of the first to leave the classroom. She stood outside to wait for Briony.

"And this mouth of mine will save me from that serious danger," Briony replied with a mischievous smile.

Brina rolled her eyes while they started to walk into the hallway.

"I'll see you tomorrow Briony!" Briony's blonde best friend waved a hand and walked in the opposite direction.

"Bye, Sammy!" Briony turned and waved back at the blonde girl.

The twins walking in the school's hallway are eye-catching. The twins looked identical in many ways but they have a lot of differences as well.

Briony is spontaneous and energetic. She loves the spotlight and the attention that she gets from her peers. She enjoys the simplest things and having fun with her friends. She has a big circle of friends and everyone wants to be her friend.

Briony also has an eye for fashion. She is always dressed to kill and never lets a single strand of hair out of its place. And though it may not always seem like it, she knows that she cannot have the spotlight on her alone, she is very observant and sympathetic towards others' feelings.

Brina, on the other hand, is a shy and reticent person. While Briony is popular in school for being a social butterfly, Brina is popular as a genius. Other students in school call her a "bookworm" which she didn't mind because she is confident in her knowledge.

Her fashion rotation consists mainly of shirts and jeans, basically white and black. Of course, that includes her oversized black-rimmed glasses. Though soft-spoken, Brina is stubborn when it comes to her ideas and beliefs.

Brina hates rules and regulations that's why she often acts alone making her impulsive at times.

The twins may look identical on the outside, with hazel eyes, fair skin, long brunette hair, same height, and body curves, but their personalities define them.

While Briony is a social butterfly, Brina is a bookworm, both are also popular for their beauty.

"Oh! Hey, Briony!" A guy suddenly appeared alongside them and walked with the twins. "I was just wondering... are you free tomorrow lunch? Uhm... there is a newly opened cafe across the campus, you might want to try it with me." The guy looked cute acting coy but Briony knows the guy's pretenses.

"Oh...I'm so sorry, but my sister and I have plans for tomorrow. Maybe some other time?" Briony politely declines.

The guy doesn't seem to expect the rejection and was taken aback. "Is that so? Okay, some other time it is."

When the guy left and walked the other hallway, Brina looked at her with questioning eyes. "When are you going to stop using me as your excuse for rejecting invitations?"

"What are you talking about?" Briony replied innocently.

"I'm talking about our plans for tomorrow?" Brina struggles to quote in the air with her hands filled with books.

Briony chuckled and helped her sister carry some of her books. "Don't we have plans for tomorrow?"

Brina looked at her with a raised brow. "Do we?"

Briony gave her a goofy smile. "No we don't." then she said.

"I just knew the guy. I heard him with his friends making a bet over a girl in the other department yesterday. And now he is inviting me to lunch? Don't you think that is suspicious?" Briony shrugged her shoulders.

"Hmm...you are right. Now I have to make plans for tomorrow. And because you used me as an excuse...I'm driving." Brina said in time that they arrived at the parking lot where their car is parked.

Their father, who is a retired military General, refused to give them each car. They always complained about how unfair it was because their younger sister drives her own car while they share one. Their father said that it was just practical because they were at the same school, same class, and the same schedule, therefore, they go and leave school at the same time.

"What?! No!" Briony exclaimed in disbelief. "You were the one to drive us here, so it is my turn to drive us home!" Briony stomps her feet on the ground but Brina just ignores her and gets in the car.

"Urgh!"

"Hi, Mom, Dad!" Brina kissed both her parent's cheeks when they arrived home. She spotted them on their usual spot during the afternoon, which is in the main courtyard of the house. They were seated on an outdoor sofa reading and casually chatting.

"Hey, sweetheart. How's school?" Her mother asked, then looked behind her.

"Boring," Brina replied. Nothing excites her other than her learning on her own.

Her father was looking at her and then at the door where she came from. "Where is Briony?" She heard him ask.

"Sulking," Then Brina told them what happened to the guy who invited Briony to lunch until she drove home instead of Briony. They don't hide anything from them. Well except for one thing.

"Well, someone is here to ease you from boredom and your sister from sulking." Her father said.

Brina's eyes twinkled with excitement and before her father could say anything, she jumped off her feet and ran around the house calling her sister's name. "Briony! Uncle is here!"

Inside the grand and spacious room that General Villan commissioned for his daughters that his daughters now call their "private space" , Brina and Briony sit on the brown leather sofa.

The room is surrounded with wall to ceiling wooden bookcases and drawers. There is a traditional desk fitted against a wall with a computer on top of it and a black armchair behind the desk.

In the center of the room is a workspace for the Villan sisters surrounded by four armchairs.

They called it their "private space" because, for some reason, their parents are off-limits.

"Uncle Lorcan, you have something for us?" Briony asked with excitement. She had long forgotten about Brina taking the wheels from her.

Lorcan Villan is the youngest brother of their father. He is only 32 years old. Their father, Rowan Villan along with his two other brothers were in the military. Lorcan is the only one who is not in the military, though he serves in an agency under law enforcement.

"No." Lorcan coldly said. He is a cold and intimidating man.

Brina and Briony's shoulders lowered in disappointment. They thought that they were in for another adventure for the second time in a week.

"I came to check out on you. I heard that you hurt yourself in your last hunt." He said.

Brina and Briony were frozen in place and looked at each other. "Uhm...Uncle, who told you I was hurt?" Briony said this because it was clear that the question was intended for her based on Lorcan's eyes that were examining her body.

"The man said he was able to injure you..." Lorcan paused and took another look at her shoulder before looking back at her face. "...badly before you guys caught him."

"Ha! Uncle Lorcan! That's impossible. We caught him just two days ago, did I heal myself in just two days?" Briony laughed awkwardly, earning her a glare from Brina.

Lorcan narrowed his eyes at Briony with suspicion and once in a while, he would check on her shoulders that is covered with her oversized mustard shirt tucked in a denim skirt.

"Uncle Lorcan, I am sure he is just bluffing. Briony wouldn't be here if she was injured." Brina said calmly to convince their uncle. And she was right, if Briony was really injured from a hunt, they cannot go back home until she is perfectly healed. And they would have to think of a good reason why she cannot come home.

Briony had to do some stretching before they could finally convince their uncle that she was not injured.

Though cold and intimidating, Lorcan genuinely cares about his nieces. He is the closest to them probably because he is young and has spent a lot of time with them. While the Villan sisters adore and respect him.

"Phew! That was close!" Briony slouched her body on the sofa feeling exhausted when their uncle left.

"We should be more careful next time," Brina said.

"Yeah...extra, extra careful," Briony replied slowly with a solemn look in her eyes.
