Chapter 4 - AMBUSH

Amanda rushed, the whole way weaving in and out of the streets constantly asking for directions from the most reliable looking people she could find along the way. All along the way she witnessed many things that a girl who'd grown up in a small village had never seen unless in the movies.

A man was being roughly beaten up by a group of ruffians and throwing a bunch of insults at him while they did. A woman rushing out of a house naked with one shoe on and her clothes in hand until she was pulled in again and her screams sounded for a while until they where muffled again.

All she had seen so far made the Forgotten Alley live up to it's reputation. There was strange feeling in the back of her neck that made Amanda turn to look over her shoulder more than once. It felt as though someone was following her, or like the walls around her had eyes and they were all looking at her.

Her feet carried her to walk even faster and eventually she broke into a run. her heart beat hard in her chest and her high heels where giving her now aching feet a hard time. Just as she turned down a corner that her previous source had told her to take she saw an exit. She slowed a bit still walking fast and all the while thanking the heavens that she had made it out whole.

This street had no one in it. The buildings all had their windowless cold brick walls forming either side of the street. For a short while Amanda felt the uncomfortable feeling from before subside only to be replaced by something That feeling she had before had now left her but it had been replaced with something more dark and sinister.

She was only a few yards away from freedom when a bottle came out of nowhere and smashed right in front of her at her feet missing by a mere inch. Amanda let out a gasp and backed away from the crash but not before it sprayed shattered glass and a strong smelling alcohol all over her feet and face that weren't covered by the clothing she wore.

A menacing laugh followed the crash and out of the shadows somewhere stepped out a brute of a man. Tall and bulky all over with a scar running across his face. When he caught her expression he smiled even wider taking pleasure in the fear he caused her to feel. Then he pushed a hand through his hair and addressed her in a cold voice.

" Now, now, that's no way to treat a guy that went through the trouble to follow you all this way just to have a chat now is it?"

He took a step forward immediately making her take one back. Her mind was calculating the possibility of running past him and onto the sidewalk that she could see clearly from where she stood. Amanda's Plans changed however when another voice sounded from the opposite wall.

" Now 'ere's a pretty lady like you rushing off to this late in the nyt huh?"

A skinny man with a golden capped tooth stepped out and headed her way with his hands slung casually behind his head.

" Ahhh and you're a pretty one. Ain't she Pretty Perliouse?", the skinny one continued, this time addressing the brute.

The brute looked her over making her feel even more uncomfortable. His tongue went over his lips and he spoke as if restraining himself.

" She really is....", before Amanda could react as her muscles had been frozen during the whole exchange, the skinny one gripped her upper arm and held her still. His slim frame deceived his strength because she discovered she couldn't break his hold on her.

" Let go of me or else i'll-" before she could finish he pushed her backwards and she stumbled against the wall hitting her head on the brick and dropping her bag which spilled all its contents everywhere. Amanda felt her head sting with pain and she raised her hand to touch where it hurt, she felt no wound at all. Just the pain and now loud ringing in her ears, her sight turned blurry and she only distantly heard their conversation.

" Let's 'ear you screen now." The skinny one said.

" B*tch don't know that no one would come get 'er either way" The brute said laughing.

" Leave me alone.." Amanda spoke weakly she couldn't move and felt miserable, is this how her life would come to an end? Her attempt at a powerful rebuke failed but she didn't give up trying. Herblips parted to speak but the voice that was heard wasn't her's.

"Leave her alone,' The voice was as cold as the iceist night.

Amanda forced her now drifting eyes open more and saw the silhouette of a tall broad man standing not too far from the two ruffians. She however could not make out his exact appearance.

' What now is he here to claim someone else's catch?' She thought to herself. At least it wouldn't be these two that she fell into the arms of.

Amanda drifted in and out of consciousness but could hear the muffled screams of the ruffians in a short while the man she'd seen before stood infront of her and she raised her head slightly to ask,

" Are you hear to take me too?"

It took a while to receive an answer and at first she thought he hadn't heard her.

" I'm hear to take you home." His voice still sounded cold and yet comforting to her.

He flipped out his phone made a call and then bent to pick her up and walked out into the open. Behind them where the groans of the ruffians that had been given a good beating.

Amanda tried to stay awake in the arms of the stranger, but her head hurt too much and she finally closed her eyes wondering what could possibly be worse..
