Chapter 6 - RESCUE

Following his unexplainable new occupation had proved to be of no difficulty at all. Jason had decided against making any contact with her and engaging in conversation. He instead found it more intriguing, to simply lose himself in her cascading dark hair and simple movements as she walked.

When she arrived at a turn onto a very busy street, a cyclist passed by pushing her off balance. She seemed to have been pulled from a deep train of thought because when he threw a scolding at her she simply apologised and excused herself. The cyclist saw her innocent reaction towards him and instead took advantage and pretended to be even angrier before ' letting her off the hook'.

Jason noticed that the man's actions were no accident at all, it was so obvious from the smirk that played at the corners of his lips the whole time that he scolded her.

Jason felt infuriated at the man's actions towards the woman he'd been following. As the cyclist's approached him with a self satisfied smile plastered on his face, Jason intentionally bumped him with his shoulder causing the cyclist to lose balance, he fell off his bicycle and onto a vending stand filled with potted plants breaking a good number of them as he did. As he tried to stand he somehow managed to bring down a newspaper rack too.

The result was a pair of angry vendors throwing all sorts of insults at the cyclist and him continuously apologising and trying to avoid beatings.

As Jason walked off having slipped into the dense crowd he could hear the weak mumblings and pleadings of the man as a crowd began to gather around to see what was going on. Content with the result of his actions Jason turned back to continue on his calming walk.

The woman he had been following seemed to be lost because she hesitated before continuing down the same street.

---

All employees at JK branches throughout the country underwent mandatory background check. Anything found distasteful in an individual that posed a threat to the image of the company was not condoned.

Jason found it hard to believe that this conservatively dressed woman who had intrigued him could have any sort of business in such an area. And even more intriguing was how her activities, if this was one of them, had gone unnoticed by the staff at the company.

He decided that he would continue to follow her from a distance to discover exactly why she was here.

Walking down the Alley proved easy for him, his cold exterior frightened anyone who dared to approach him for anything, but for the woman he was following it wasn't the case. She was constantly swarmed by many people and for a moment Jason lost sight of the her when he spotted her, it was to find her standing still as a rock. Clutching her purse tight enough to make her knuckles turn white and her face showed she embarrassment.

Before Jason could react she walked away from the spot quickly leaving all the women around her laughing loudly. He felt anger well up inside him making his hands ball up into fists. A woman with far too much makeup and a choking perfume approached him. Just before she got closer she thought twice and walked right by.

Jason followed her for another few turns keeping a close but reasonable distance so that he wouldn't lose her in the crowd but She began to turn and look back more and more often, as if she could tell he was following her Before Jason could finish that thought she broke off into a run and it took him a moment to react before he followed suit. For a fragile looking woman she sure did move fast and he lost her through all the streets and people.

When Jason managed to find his way around and finally get to her, the state he found her in made his blood turn colder.

She sat slumped against the wall, on the ground, the contents of her purse spilled out and one of her high heels was broken. Standing above her were two gruff looking men yet even in their presence and her weak state she still managed to voice a rebuke.

" You heard the woman."

Jason spoke before he could think. He began walking towards the two his blood boiling underneath his calm exterior.

" She doesn't like you, or can't you handle being rejected?" The smile that he wore was just as cold.

" Hey! She's our catch so go find your own." The skinny one said, a golden tooth showed as he spat the words out.

The large one stepped forward and spoke next.

" Yeah get lost pretty boy or you'll reg-" Jason's fist made contact with the large ones face sending him stumbling a few feet backwards.

Jason turned to face the skinny one who had just recovered from the shock of his bigger more bulkier friend getting knocked down. The man drew a sharp pocket knife and hesitated slightly then smirked.

" You'll regret you did that pretty boy. Now im going to make you pay!"

The man rushed towards him slashing wildly with the knife. Jason, who was completely unfazed enough to offer a cold smile, avoided every one of the slashes. His lack of balance and grip on the blade made it easy for Jason to disarm him and in a swift motion cut across the man's face.

The skinny man cried out in pain clutching his face with both hands. Jason used the hilt of the blade to hit the man in the face and the sound of broken bone gave him the slightest bit of satisfaction.

The bulkier brute who had recovered by now charged from behind him and began throwing punches all of which missed their targets. When Jason threw only three however all found theirs in the brute's chest jaw and finally face in the left eye. Taking advantage of the man's confusion, Jason hit him one more time across his jaw making the brute fall to the ground unconscious.

Seeing that both were harmless now he walked over to the woman slumped against the wall. She raised her face to look at him.

"Are you here to take me too?" She asked weakly?

Jason felt stung at her words and didn't respond for a while

" In here to take you home."

She had already slumped over and Jason wasn't sure she had heard him. He bent down and patiently gathered her things into her bag. His phone rang in his pocket and he picked up.

" I know I can be patient but that doesn't mean you should take advantage, were are you?" A woman's patient voice rang down the line.

Jason gave her his location and put his phone back. He stared at the woman in front of him and gathered her into his arms and walked out of the alley she looked at peace with her eyes closed and her dark hair spilled over his arm like the deepest darkest night.
