Amanda woke to the sound of muffled crying by her bed side. Her eyes opened slowly adjusting to the light that flooded into the room, her body felt drained despite the fact that she had just been sleeping.
The woman by her bed side must have sensed the movement that she made because her head shot up and looked up at Amanda blankly with puffy eyes and slightly red nose before jumping out of her seat towards the patient.
"Little sister!" The woman exclaimed without warning. Her relief and joy clearly shown as more tears streamed down her face.
Amanda was caught off guard by the loud screem and the reaction that followed, it sounded even louder because her senses were still adjusting to her surroundings. "I was home when I received a call from the hospital saying you had been admitted." She said softly, "You should have lived with me for even just a while before you decided to stay alone now look what happened. This is all my fault." Amora dabbed at the tears that fell from her eyes then began wriggling her fingers in her lap anxiously.
Amanda could see the pain her sister was going through and it hurt her. Amora was the only person who, growing up, had always looked after Amanda and encouraged her to follow her dreams no matter the obstacles. Amanda leaned forward enough to reach her sister's hand and gave her a reassuring smile and prayed to all the gods that her voice sounded just as reassuring,
