Angel groaned, every bone in her body felt like it had shattered into a million pieces. She grumbled and sat up slowly, the ground beneath her feet felt cold and damp, where was she? A clearing, that's where, it seems she'd landed in the only dirt patch, just her luck.
She stood up and looked around, it was verging on sunset, so she could only assume they had been there for a while. Where was Finn? Angel squinted slightly as she searched for him.
Then she saw it, a bloody hand lay limply by a bush. She sighed worriedly, praying that hand didn't belong to Finn. But unfortunately, luck was not on her side, as she rounded the bush there was Finn. Blood running down from his temple and bruises on his body. Angel reached down and tried to shake him gently
"Finn? Finn, please wake up," she whispered. But he remained motionless. She backed away from his body and sat down on the grass heavily "what am I gonna do? What if he's dead?" Trying to keep her thoughts rational, she played with the grass at her feet, the soft feeling of it rubbing between her fingers calmed her slightly.
She sighed again and stared at Finn, then she realized, she had never checked his pulse. She crawled towards him and grabbed his arm, feeling for a vein. Then she froze, his pulse was non-existent, she was stuck here with a dead person.
Her thoughts went into a jumbled frenzy, but she felt nothing, her eyes began to water and it was all too overwhelming. Then it all stopped when she heard a heavy grunt.
Finn brought his arm up to scratch his head, Angel could only watch in horror as he sat up and stared at her.
"What?" he mumbled "you look like you've seen a ghost."
That was it, Angel screamed, a shrill sound that made birds fly away nearby. Finn stumbled towards her and clamped a hand over her mouth, she tried to struggle away but he was surprisingly strong.
"Are you out of your mind?! The Shadowlings might hear you."
Angel pushed him off after a minute "Shadowlings?" she shouted.
Finn glared at her "SHHH." He whisper yelled. Angel looked away sheepishly "right, sorry, shadowlings?" she whispered.
It was Finn's turn to look sheepish this time.
"Yeah um, I have a lot to explain..."
