Chapter 18 - Mission

Determined not to get caught, Angel snuck between the shadows of the alleyway, not long ago she and Finn had landed in a grassy field near the town, they had agreed it was best to wait until dark to explore, in case people were watching them. Angel had managed to convince him to let her do a solo scope of the town first, to see what could be of use to them.

Curiously, she walked quietly up to the back of a brightly colored shop, it looked old but still full of life. A small window was cracked open slightly, Angel saw her chance and opened it wider, then she slipped through it.

The shop was covered in scarves and mismatched fabric, it smelled fruity, like an overripe peach, Angel gazed around in wonder. Something felt off to her, this place, something about it, she had never seen it before, or had she?

It felt so familiar but she knew she must be imagining things, she can't have been here before, surely she would remember going into a shop like this? She shook the thoughts out of her head and continued, searching for anything they could take with them, she brushed aside some fabric and stopped in shock, there was a carving on the wall, a symbol, she knew that symbol? How? '𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦' the voice in her head said, Angel frowned "What?" She didn't realize she had spoken aloud until her voice echoed back at her in the quiet space.

Then it hit her, a flash of memories.

𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘐 𝘱𝘶𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵, 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨? 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺, 𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦 "𝘈𝘩, 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘭, 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦" 𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 "𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶"

Angel blinked several times, what was that? Caphriel? Who was Caphriel? She shook her head, why did that feel so real? Like...'𝘓𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵?' There was that voice in her head again, she couldn't make sense of this. It felt so strange, so right but so distant.

Angel sat down on the floor, tears flowed from her eyes, but she didn't know why. Drying her eyes, she got up and went back over to the symbol, it was two figures entwined with each other, a beautiful bird-like person, with what seemed to be wings, and another figure, this one had curled spikes coming out of its head and a long twisting tail. She ran her fingers over the smooth stone, this was all too similar.

She ripped a scarf off the wall. The one hiding the carving, for some reason she felt it had to be seen, people had to look at it. She was confused and scared at what lay in her mind, but assured herself of one thing as she stuffed the scarf in her bag, she would return here one day.
