Chapter 16 - Confusion

Angel was frustrated, they were sitting in a damp, musty cave and she was cold. But that wasn't the reason as to why she was frustrated. The almost kiss kept going through her mind, what if they had kissed?

She sat down with a huff, thinking about it had given her a headache, but she couldn't stop. She lay down on the dirty rock that made up the cave floor and spread her arms out "I should've kissed him", she said.

"Should've kissed who?" There was amusement in Finn's tone, Angel had no doubt that he knew exactly what she had been thinking.

"No one." She stood up quickly and walked away from him, but Finn wasn't having any of it, he came up behind her and grabbed her shoulders.

"No no, tell me," he said cheekily in her ear.

Angel flushed, she could feel his breath on her neck, a million thoughts were buzzing through her mind, but the most prominent two were that she should either kick him in the balls or kiss him. '𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘮?!' Angel thought to herself.

In a moment of frustration, she pushed him away "leave me alone" she sat down facing away from him. The cave echoed with Finn's footsteps as he walked over and crouched beside her.

"Sorry if I angered you," he said quietly. Angel didn't meet his gaze, she could still feel the mark of his arms around her waist and it was bothering her.

But just as she opened her mouth to try and make the situation less awkward, there was an echo of different footsteps in the cave.

Finn's eyes went wide, Angel did meet his gaze then, and she recognized the emotion within their swirling depths, 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳.

He took her hand with his and made a shushing motion with his finger.

"We have to go" his voice was barely louder than the echoing footsteps, Angel could understand the urgency of the situation, she nodded.

Then they were off, he fastened his arms around her body and spread out his wings, it was death or flight, she knew that, but the thought of sailing through the sky again made her stomach turn.

There was no time to be sick, the footsteps were closing in on them. Angel sucked in a breath of air, then they dived.
