Chereads / Imperium Sacris / Chapter 2 - II

Chapter 2 - II

Agnes decided to sit on the seat of the car located at the left rear near the window, there she found solace in looking at the beautiful scenery depicted through the window.

Her thoughts wondered, very soon her siblings were dropped off in the enormous gates of Imperium Sacris Institute. It stood tall like an immovable mountain. Undoubtingly inciting her annoyance. She didn't know what to do. There was just something that irked her about that school, it was just... weird and creepy in an unexplainable way.

Every time she sees that school, she would be able hear weird voices. Frightened, she thought she was just sick or something. Goosebumps would linger in her skin, eventually she starts to dream about weird things at night. Her blood boiled, she realized that perhaps she was cursed or something. Eventually, she reasoned with herself that perhaps it was just her wild imagination playing a trick on her. She wasn't delutional. She wasn't sick. She was perhaps just overthinking things. Maybe the school was just haunted.

Agnes shook off her nonsensical daydreaming, she let her thoughts run too wild. She shouldn't wander far too off. She sees her siblings enter the huge gate and she tried to fight off the loneliness evading her heart. She was a tad bit protective of them. Sometimes she would even be too paranoid to imagine the weird things clinging to them whenever they would enter the gates. Then she would blink several times to make sure it was just her imagination, sure enough, it would really vanish.

She was confused at first and didn't let it bother her though. She rationaly pondered through the situation. She eventually came to the conclusion of having sleep deprivation. She needed to properly rest her body and mind.

As time pass by, there would be frequent encounters that left her wetting her bed at night. She didn't tell anyone, she couldn't. She tried to keep herself preoccupied to keep her distracted whenever she would hear those things...

Truthfully she couldn't understand a word. It was all gibberish and fuzzy. What scared her however were the way it was said, the tone carried a hint of desperation and urgency. It was spoken in a foreign tongue but whenever she would hear it, it was like a vortex, pulling her in. Calling her to do something unknown. She tried to keep herself occupied everyday, finding odd things to do just to keep her body moving. Then at night she would be so tired she would fall asleep on the spot.

As for those weird things bothering her? She would conclude it was due to all the horror movies she had watched. Yes, Agnes had watched too much horror movies, evidently it scarred her mind as well. Yes... thats all it was.

She was a scaredy cat. She didn't have the stomach to enjoy watching horror movies. Nevertheless, she was still stupid enough to watch it all alone at night in bed.

It was retribution for her stupidity. Next time she would not be so audacious to watch those stuff.

"Agnes! Agnes! Agnes!" Father called out. Agnes snapped out of her thoughts and was so startled that she bumped her head.

"Ouch... Dad, why are you shouting?" Agnes grumbles while rubbing her sore head. "I've been calling you for the past ten minutes, why are you so distracted today?" Dad asks in return. "Perhaps she stayed up late last night." Mother said as she considered the possibility.

Father then shakes his head. "Maybe Sandro[1] was too harsh on you, next time I'll keep him at bay... Since you're paying attention now, get going already or you'll be late for the first subject." Dad said understanding me. "Thank you papa." I thank God for my understanding father and kisses his cheek. I kiss my mom as well and give her a cheeky knowing smile. I bade my parents farewell and started on a running spree just in case.
