Agnes saw them silently conversing for a few minutes until they finally finished and went in her direction. Once they were seated, Agnes momentarily prepared herself, at least even a little.
Talisa didn't miss a beat and went straight for the kill by asking her daughter, "What did you see Agnes?" Carlisle cringed at his wife for being so straightforward and silently looked in Agnes' direction.
"I can't say it without sounding crazy mom. I saw those people gang up on my brother only to have him retaliate by releasing blue fire out of his hands!" As the words left her mouth, even Agnes was shocked at how crazy she sounded.
Carlisle looked straight at Agnes and said. "Calm down Agnes. I know it sounds crazy but listen to me, what you saw was not real." He stated sternly while maintaining a composed face.
"What are you saying dad? I know I saw-". Agnes didn't finish was she was trying to say as she was cut off by her father.
"You saw nothing." Carlisle firmly stated in a tone that left no room for arguments, not to mention fear crept in Agnes's heart as she saw her father's eyes glowed in such an intensity.
"Wha-! You too dad? What is going on with you?" The fear was overwhelmed by shocked as she saw the glowing eyes of her father.
Why is everyone acting this way? Surely everyone is a part of this fiasco, obviously ganging up on her and telling her she saw nothing when her eyes told her otherwise. Her dad was acting strange too. What is he trying to do?
"Wha-?" Carlisle was so shocked he nearly couldn't believe his own eyes. He couldn't even formulate coherent thoughts to understand the situation. No words were said as he began to scrutinize his perfectly intact daughter.
"Dad... It can't be. Are you also trying to release blue fire to roast me? What is wrong with you?!" Agnes glared fiercely as she stated her speculations. Why would men in her family resort to such a thing? Surely other methods were also viable.
"Pffft!" Sandro couldn't reign in his laughter and burst out loud laughing.
"Hahahahahah. I-Its too much. I can't take it anymore. Hahhahahahahah." Sandro began laughing so loud while clutching his stomach. Mother also tried her best not to laugh, ultimately turning to the side to hide her laughter.
Father snapped out of his stupor and turned beet red in embarrassment. He could only watch though, as his wife and his son laughed till they dropped.
Agnes was still clueless though, oblivious to what was so funny. So she waited until they had enough of themselves.
The laughter died down but hints of it still clung to Alessandro's cheeky face. "You should have seen your face dad. Totally priceless." Sandro said without restraint. Mother tried her best not agree but ultimately failing due to her comical face.
"Okay that's enough son. You too Talisa. We have important matters to address to." Carlisle finalized in a serious tone that shut down Alessandro's joking face. Soon everyone turned serious.
"Agnes. Looked at me in the eye." Carlisle told Agnes without beating around the bush.
Agnes stared straight into her father's glowing eyes. She was scared of what would happen but ultimately she was brave enough to conquer that fear.
I can do this.
I will not be burned like that guy in the alley.
I'm a strong independent woman capable of staring straight into my dad's eyes.
I'm fine.
Pefectly intact.
Still functional.
I'm okay, okay....
Okay I'm ready now dad.
Totally ready.
So ready.
Super ready.
Bring it on.
Bring it.
I'm ready now dad.
I said go.
Go dad I'm ready.
Super duper extremely ready.
What is the lag for?!
Are we gonna do this or what?
Agnes waited and waited but nothing happened. Impatience got the best of her and she couldn't take it anymore. "Dad, when are you going to start? I stared at you long enough and nothing is happening."
Carlisle was dumbfounded, he had a shocked expression etched into his face. Obviously he was trying to say something but all that was heard were gibberish.
Talisa placed her hand in Carlisle's shoulder and whispered something. It worked because Carlisle was able to pull himself together. He thanked Talisa briefly then he held her hands.
Carlisle then looked in Agnes' direction and he said. "I don't release blue fire out of my hands honey. That is Alessandro's ability. My ability is to manipulate the minds of people. I was trying to manipulate yours by erasing your memories, for your own good might I add... but obviously its not working. Specifically memories of you seeing Alessandro's ability."
As the words left Carlisle's mouth Agnes was left dumbfounded.
Agnes was still shocked but her parents looked like they were expecting something from her. So she said to them truthfully, "Don't look at me like that please. I don't understand what's currently happening right now. Its all too much for me to process."
Talisa went to Agnes' side and she hugged her daughter. "I know its a lot to take in sweety, believe me but we didn't expect you to witness such a scene."
Agnes was hurt and confused by those words so she replied, "If I didn't witness anything today then were you planning on keeping this a secret from me for my entire life?"
"No sweety, we didn't." Talisa replied honestly.
"I think its better to hold a family meeting right here, I'll call the others." Alessandro interrupted and left no room for arguments as he left swiftly.
Agnes was trying to control her emotions, struggling but barely managing to pull herself together. She would find answers to her questions once they had a family discussion.
Very soon, all of her siblings were there, then they found their respective seats.
"Sorry sis, before we start this discussion me and Brion overheard everything. We really didn't mean to eavesdrop." Beatrix said guility.
Brion was about to say something but father cut him off. "Stand down Brion. Next time don't do it again."
Talisa nodded at Carlisle, then she turned to the matter at hand. "Agnes, I know it will be hard for you but listen until we finished okay?"
Agnes nodded briefly.
Talisa looked straight at Carlisle and after a moment of hesitation, he finally spoke up. "The reason I tried to erase your memory was to keep you safe. There are people who hates our family and they will do everything they can to find our weakness. Unfortunately, you are our weakness Agnes."
Agnes questioned her father, "How can I be your weakness?"
Talisa said straight to the point, "It is because your ability is dormant. It showed no signs of awakening."
Carlisle continued after Talisa and said," That's why you were targeted many times. They also tried it with Alessandro, Beatrix and Brion. However your siblings fended them off because they're stronger, in terms of abilities of course. You my child were the opposite. You couldn't even defend yourself, good thing the first time happened with Alessandro around. As for the next attempts, we hired bodyguards for the job so we managed to save you just in time."
Agnes was trying to process everything but some things just don't add up, so she questioned her dad, "I don't recall such things happening to me. Why is my memory different from what you're saying dad?"
Carlisle was taken aback, he didn't expect Agnes to ask him this question so soon. At first he hesitated until finally, he wavered and contemplated on what to say. Then he finally admitted. "Today is not the first time I tried to erase your memory Agnes."
