The two girls reappeared in the spot where the light point indicated by Annthrà on Ofelya's map was. It was practical to be able to teleport like that, even though Sasaki was starting to feel a bit sick with the rapid changes in the environment.
"Ofelya, why did you have to ruin everything when we were on the verge of escaping the punishment ?!" The girl scolded, looking at the young archer who was lying on the floor. She, too, seemed ill at ease with teleportation.
"I want to vomit..."
"It's not my problem ! It's your fault if we're here ! If I came across someone normal, I wouldn't have problems with the tutorial, and-"
"You're terrifying, Sasaki... I understand better why you don't have a boyfriend !" Ofelya replied with a broad, innocent smile. Her friend's head went red with embarrassment and anger, and she grabbed Ofelya's neck.
"Are you going to stop talking nonsense all the time ? And how do you know that ?" She screamed so that her voice echoed all over the street.
"Ha ha ha ! I have a sixth sense for that ! And it looks like I was right ! You have the smell of a virgin..." Ofelya boasted, trying to free herself from Sasaki's violent embrace, which was clearly trying to smother her.
"It's because of your sixth sense that we're here !"
Suddenly, the victim stiffened and did not move, as if petrified by fear. Ofelya finally understood her own stupidity ?
"Sa-sa-Sasaki !" A frozen hand landed in the neck of the girl who felt all her strength leave her at the moment of contact. She fell to her knees on the pavement, raising her head to look back.
A man with long black hair dressed as a butler stood in front of them, and his righteousness made him look stern and imposing. He wore small round glasses, but they were not big enough to hide the anger that could be read in his eyes.
"You will stop shouting immediately. You will disturb our bar guests and tarnish the reputation of my establishment, and if you don't leave right away, I will take care of you." He said in a chilling voice that was enough to make the two poor girls tremble with fear. Had he talked about a bar ?
Raising her eyes a bit more, Sasaki noticed that the building they had been teleported to showed a big sign that read "The Neko Bar". Annthrà sent them to work in a bar ?
As the man turned on his heels to walk back inside his restaurant, Sasaki stood up and called out to him.
"Wait, sir ! In fact, we're here because we're looking for a job that will allow us to repay a debt we owe to the great steward of this city. She recommended us your establishment ! I know we haven't gave you a good first impression... But give us a chance !" Sasaki had bowed forward to apologize to the man who was obviously the boss of this bar. If they wanted to pay the 10,000 gems, they had to be hired first...
"And why would I take two girls as noisy as you in my bar ? I need charming people, and you don't seem to have those qualities."
The man's words offend Sasaki a little, although she was used to knowing that she had little to no charm. She thought that in this game, her avatar would allow her to fill up this statistic a little, which was missing in reality...
"We... we have other assets !" She answered without thinking, just wanting to have the last word.
"Which ?" The man lifted his glasses before crossing his arms to observe a possible demonstration. However Sasaki did not really know what kind of assets she could show... She did not have the body of Annthrà, and was only a poor girl who did not even know her class yet.
"Assets ? It's simple." Ofelya approached proudly, without hesitation. Mentally, Sasaki was already preparing to have to run to escape after she said her bullshit.
"I am a loli !" The girl said, holding out her finger to the bar's boss, smiling confidently. He just raised an eyebrow, not at all impressed.
"I'm cute, caring, attractive, and even a little lewd..." She stated her qualities by taking different poses to illustrate her words and show her body to the man. In view of the crowd she had gathered a little earlier, she had full confidence in her qualities of seduction.
"Why not, assuming you'll calm down a little bit. And what are her qualities ?" He pointed at Sasaki, who froze with fear. For once, Ofelya had succeeded ?! And it was her who found herself in trouble.
"I... I..." She was searching, but she had not the same qualities that her friend had. She did not know how to put her body in value, she was shy and rather reserved, and preferred to stay in her corner without being noticed... And these were not really the qualities sought for working in a bar.
"I don't have any qualities... I think I couldn't work here after all..." Sasaki sadly said that she would have to find another alternative to pay the amount she owed to the great steward.
"I agree to hire you both. We miss girls with a shy character, you'll be perfect." The man's voice rang before her and she looked up a little surprised. So shyness could be a quality ?
"Thank you very much sir, I will do my best not to disappoint you !" She said, bowing again to show her respect.
"You're way too polite, Sasaki. Well, I didn't have any doubt that I would be hired without any problems, so..."
"We have two other girls like you, so you better be good if you want to be part of them." The man cut off Ofelya's word to order, and the latter did not reply. She knew she was not in a strong position...
"Call me by name. I'm Loptr, a level 34 necromancer. I run this establishment to make money, and I'm counting on you to work properly." He said, bowing respectfully too. He was infinitely more powerful than they were... They had an interest in doing nothing wrong !
"Ofelya, level 4 archer." The girl answered, introducing herself as well, making Sasaki understand that she should do the same.
"Sasaki, uh... I don't know my class, and I guess I'm level 1, since I started the game today." She explained, her voice a little shaky. Loptr looked at her for a few seconds, but did not look surprised.
"I'll take you to the class pavilion once the night's work is over. For the moment, I'm going to tell you what your job is going to be, follow me."
